  1. FWIW, Real Plus Minus hated Augustin. Apparently, his defense was awful.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) Augustin gets 2 years 6 mill with the Pistons. God damn it. Hinrich over Augustin? Really?
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) Just can't get rid of him. One of my least favorite bulls of the past decade is back. Good... god.. just awful. Only good thing about him is that he's a combo guard and he won't kill you defensively. His shooting sucks and he's not a good PG. At least he's not making $4 million like he did last year.
  4. Hinrich's getting 2 years and $5.5 million. $2.73 million per year with option for the second year. Meh.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) For those who care: Snell continues to DOMINATE summer league. Draining threes and creative off dribble. Doug looks much more comfortable and showing some creativity. Bairstow is great at defending. No doubt will be on roster...Will never play likely. Posthummus is the best. Well worth the 5 to watch him attempt to play basketball. Excited for Billy baron. Unfortunately it's NBA Summer League. Looking good means nothing, but looking bad is a bad sign of things to come. I really hope Snell will pan out though. Good to see McDermott shooting well after kind of struggling in his first game as well.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) It's interesting that we've basically refused to trade Taj and/or Mirotic and brought in Gasol. PF overload.
  7. Poll: would you rather have signed Pierce for 2 and $11 million or Nikola Mirotic for 3 and $17 million?
  8. Houston is not matching on Parsons. What a terrible off-season for the Rockets. Ariza at $8 million a year is nice, but I truly doubt he'll be the player he was last year. He's had 2 good years in his career and both came in contract years.
  9. Salary wise, the Bulls are more or less capped out. They're currently at $47.48 million if they amnesty Boozer and trade away Greg Smith (to Dallas). Mirotic will be paid $5.66 million this year, assuming his salary is the same all 3 years. If Hinrich took slightly more than the veteran's minimum, that's probably around $2 million a year. That brings us to $55.14 million. Gasol's salary is rumored to be around $6.5 million, which would bring us to $61.64 million. I imagine if they don't have anyone else to sign, they'll just give Gasol a bit more money than the $6.5 million figure (perhaps $7 million). You really can't do much with $1.5 million. Add in McDermott and Bairstow (around $2.5 million combined) and the Bulls are over the cap. So unless the FO can pull off some trades, this will be the roster next year.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) You want the offense to improve without the defense takin' a hit. We got six white dudes. None of which are known for their defensive prowess. Gasol is better offensively than Boozer and he definitely can't be worse defensively. Dunleavy is more or less average defensively (good length). Just because they're white doesn't mean they can't fit into the system.
  11. I'm glad they didn't trade him for a lottery pick.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:42 PM) Thibs defensive system will definitely be put to the test. I see a lot of defensive liabilities up and down the roster. Carlos Boozer?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) The other way to think about it is that if he has a legit, couple million dollar offer from someone else, he ought to take that and run with it. Perhaps. He has talent, obviously.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) Haha not saying that, just not sure they put the priority on strength training the way US bball does. If you put it that way, maybe. Strength doesn't seem like a huge priority in European basketball. It's much more about skill, especially shooting.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Nikola-Mirotic-5134/ This was a nice silver lining to the day. Love that he hustles so hard and tries on D. I feel like his strength will improve with US weight room...? Does that sound reasonable? Maybe. It's not like Spain is a third world country or anything though. He played on one of the best teams in Europe. I'm sure they have strength programs.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) No, you can't. Not sure what video you saw. Mirotic doesn't have close to the quickness athleticism to match-up with nba wings. If you can play McDermott at the 3, you can play Mirotic at the 3. It's not a good idea though.
  17. I think the Bulls are trying to become last year's Timberwolves. 5 of the 12 guys on the roster are white.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) The suns. I don't know either. I'm just grasping for something to dream about. 3 way trade for rondo to suns, Dragic to bulls, and Ainge just does us a solid and sacrifices Kirk to the Celtic gods. At this point, I wouldn't mind someone like Kevin Martin through a trade. Although I doubt that would happen.
  19. Hypothetically, you can play Mirotic at the 3. Not sure if he has the lateral quickness to guard smaller wings though. But his length would be great at the position. Gallinari is the same height and he's always played SF.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 05:59 PM) Dunleavy...or Jimmy if we are allowed to simulate summer league snell for real games, like a handicap. I don't know how you could fault DJ, this could be his best shot s&t big payday. Maybe would like Brooks as Pg at min. Or trade Jimmy for Dragic, two pg backcourt But they would never. They as in the Bulls or they as in the Suns? Not sure why the Suns would do that.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) 3 years, $17 million I'll take it. I watched Mirotic's scouting video a few days back. Obviously a great shooter, has the ability to go inside as well. Only real knock against him was his strength.
  22. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) Guess Messi got it for lifetime achievement. Well you can't say he wasn't completely undeserving. He's been involved in most of Argentina's goals in the knockout rounds (not many, but it was enough for the most part).
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) I have a feeling that Augustin is going to get a whole bunch more than he's worth. You can't crack jokes about the Bulls overvaluing players and then say we should sign DJ Augustin for much of anything above the vet's minimum I hope DJ realizes that the Bulls basically saved his career and that he'd fit in way better in our system than anywhere else. It really depends on the type of person he is.
  24. You know who would have been a good get for the Bulls? Arron Afflalo.
  25. So I almost got my head taken off yesterday. I was playing catcher and the throw was a bit up the line. The runner coming home literally plowed his arms into my temple. I thought he wasn't even near me when I tried to go catch the ball, so I wasn't bracing for anything. I blacked out for a good 5 seconds. What really pissed me off was that the other team didn't seem to even care. Nobody apologized. In fact, when I got up, extremely pissed off, and asked who hit me, they barely acknowledged my question and acted like nothing happened. It's freaking slow pitch softball, not football. Injuring someone is not worth it, especially when it's a head/neck injury. Apparently, I was occupying the base line (hard to tell since the infield was barely lined) and it was a bang-bang play. Still, there's absolutely no need to plow shoulder first into someone's head. They don't even allow that in professional football. We ended up winning and getting 3rd in the tournament, but I was nowhere near the same after the hit. I was 2-3 before it, 2-7 afterwards. Now I'm going to have to deal with neck and jaw pain for the next week. I think I'm done with USSSA tournaments for a while. People take that s*** way too seriously for what it actually is.
