SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) He'll be available if they need him I'm sure. Chances are they won't both days. I doubt we'll win tomorrow. It might not be all that close.

2 down.

Reed in. I sort of don't like this. Reed hasn't had the best of times in non-save situations.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
Viciedo just missed it.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
There we go! 4 run lead, no need for Reed.

Nice job by Myers. He doesn't make me want to tear my hair out when he pitches. Unlike Crain and Thornton. Those guys are horrible to watch.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) Not like this means anything, but David Murphy absolutely kills me in The Show. I hit him in the head every chance I get. Total pro you are.

Joe West would never give us a call.

I can only imagine all the bad things people will say about Myers if he blows this game (or any game in the future).

QUOTE (johnnymick @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) Danks has .296 BA, but a .286 OBS. How does that happen? Sacrifice fly.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
WTF did we go get Brett Myers for? To finish blowouts?

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
Go get Thornton Robin. He's gonna get killed by Beltre.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) That was a joke, Jones threw 4 or 5 strikes there. This ump is f***ing terrible. 3 of the balls he called on Jones were strikes at the bottom of the zone according to Pitch f/x. His zone is horribly inconsistent. The walk Sale gave up to Torrealba was also a joke. Ball 4 was definitely a strike. As was ball 3.

Come on Nate...you had Andrus down 1-2.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
ADA is always getting into incidents where it looks like he breaks his leg.

SOX GAMETHREAD: TAKING YU DOWN FOR THE 4 COUNT
Is anyone a little concerned at Sale's lack of velocity?

Chris Sale is good.

King Felix to the Sox??
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Vargas + League is a nice package regardless of what happens with the pursuit of an ace. 3? years team control of Humber has to be at least somewhat appealing for Z in Seattle, provided a couple nice prospects finished out the package. Humber is a change of scenery guy who could maybe get his confidence back by returning to a low expectation, non-contending situation and doing so in a pitcher's park. Humber + Mitchell/Thompson is a potentially great deal for Seattle given that the players they would be acquiring have higher ceilings than the players they'd be trading and also would be controllable for longer. And if it's me I'd throw in a lil extra to just to keep Mitchell and ditch Joe Borchard Jr. Humber would be appealing if he pitched against the Mariners all the time. Unfortunately, if Jack Z gets Humber, he will never get to pitch against the Mariners.

Sox want Grienke "badly"
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) I don't think we will be seeing Danks until feb.. That might be a good thing. The last thing we need is for him to really f*** up the shoulder and not pitch for another year.

Sox want Grienke "badly"
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) Supposedly he's had a falling out with their pitching coach. Also, he's going to make 20 million or so the next two years, which is a lot for a team with Tampa's payroll. And the final reason is that Tampa wants to be able to use him as trade bait to bring in more talent. Considering Tampa's view on relievers, I can't see them viewing Reed as the prize return in a trade. He's most likely going to get traded. Tampa considers him expensive. He hasn't been good this year despite decent peripherals. I honestly don't think we should trade Reed for Tampa and Tampa would think the same. We don't have any real catching prospects to give them, the only guy I can think of is Phegley and he's not very highly regarded.

Sox want Grienke "badly"
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) The very fact that the Angels offered a bench player (Peter Bourjos) straight up for Shields not only hints at the perceived market value, it also indicates he could probably be had for one of our young pen arms (hope for Jones, settle for Reed), a decent spect like Mitchell, and then a low-level spect. That's just my opinion. There's no f***ing way we should trade Reed for Shields. Jones and Mitchell, maybe.
