John Danks diagnosed with a grade 1 scapula tear
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) His WHIP says otherwise. He had a league-average WHIP along with a league-average ERA. All of our pitchers had mediocre to bad seasons last year when it came to the surface stats, a lot of that had to do with how bad our defense was. The Sox had a 3.66 FIP as a team last year, good for best in the AL. However, our team ERA was 4.10, 8th in the AL. Say what you want about DIPS theory, but over a sample size of 1500 innings, it should be fairly accurate.

Sox are interested in Volquez and Street
Volquez would be interesting. He seems like one of those guys Coop can fix. Street's been great this year, but I don't think we really need bullpen help. Once Crain is healthy again, we'll be fine.

John Danks diagnosed with a grade 1 scapula tear
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) Why are people acting as if this matters? Injury or not, Danks was possibly the worst pitcher in our rotation...losing him did not hurt us...it quite possibly helped us. If he did come back, would he have returned to form? And if he did, what form ar we talking about? His career numbers do not suggest #1 or #2, IMO. In either case, who knows...since he's not coming back. All we can use is the statistical data we have, and last season and this season his WHIP and ERA were on the rise. He was practically an automatic loss unless we got him out of the game early enough. The few starts he had that were quality were few and far between the really bad ones. Let's not pretend the loss of Danks is the reason we need another pitcher...even if he wasn't injured, we'd need another pitcher BECAUSE of him. Are you saying even a healthy John Danks sucks? I think it's fairly evident he wasn't healthy this year. The loss of velocity on all his pitches seemed too great, especially for a 27 year old, to be considered as a talent regression. John Danks is one of the top left handed starters in the AL, when healthy. His peripherals last year weren't bad, at least not as bad as his ERA indicated.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) It's because this is the Greg school of arguing: 1) Feign ignorance and ask a question that he knows the answer to. 2) Wait for a large argument to be placed. 3) Cherry pick one point, repeat same argument. 4) Deny stuff. That being said Greg, these forums would be less interesting without you.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Good signing if he can stay healthy. But we have the most injury prone lineup in the NBA and this won't help. *gulp* Redd is never healthy.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) I'm hoping its a trade exemption and a pick. Bulls might then be able to use that exemption to ink OJ Mayo. Couple years too late on OJ. He won't end up starting here (at least not this year) and we've seen how ineffective he is when he doesn't get starter's minutes.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) Yeah but we still need a back up PG, we're going into the season with one proven PG on the roster. Teague can learn on the job.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Why? He's an nba veteran and at least is a proven commodity. Another back up PG in case one of ours gets hurt wouldn't be so bad. 12 points/5 assists in 30 minutes on average efficiency We already have our PG in Kirk, unfortunately.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) Why don't you admit you went out and bought it? Because I didn't? I was honestly thinking about flipping it for like $300 and buying something else. If this thing wasn't white, I would have.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Motorola isn't going to upgrade two phones that are only about a year old, the Droid 3 and the Droid X2. f*** you, Motorola. The new Atrix HD looks like a pretty good phone though. None of these OEM manufacturers are loyal to their customers, they want you to buy their new device. Only Google has shown commitment to legacy devices when it comes to Android.

Technology catch-all thread
I got an iPad 2 as a gift. I would have preferred an Asus Transformer Prime with the keyboard dock, but after some research, I've found the iPad has some viable keyboard options as well. I want to use the iPad mainly for note taking (handwriting and typing is great IMO, beats pen and paper) and web browsing, so I would like to get a reliable keyboard case. Anybody know of a good one that matches nicely with the white iPad? Edit: I've found these: http://www.amazon.com/Luvvitt-KBWHT-Alumin...d+keyboard+case http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-Bluetooth-...trent+ipad+case The New Trent case offers more protection, but doesn't look as sharp as the Luvvitt case. The only drawback with the first case is that it leaves the back exposed, so I'll probably have to get a back protector for it. Anybody know of a good full body protector (besides Zagg)?

Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko are All Stars!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Why would you worry about something like that? What risk? He tries to hit a bomb every at bat. What risk were you referring to? You have no idea how something like a HR derby can affect a hitter, even if he does tend to swing for home runs in most of his PAs.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) I don't believe this. You can find guys like Asik in the NBDL. He reminds me of Tree Rollins. Let Houston, etc, be stupid. Worry about Taj. Don't worry about Asik. Houston's been going after a legit big man for a while now. Asik, however, isn't legit.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) Taj plays a different position than Asik, lol Why do people keep saying don't match? You realize we lose him for nothing then right? Are you guys happy to lose a guy we drafted and developed, who has tremendous value in todays NBA, for nothing? I hope our GM isn't this shortsighted At best you work a sign and trade and get something of value back in return, but I don't really know how likely that is. This team is not in a position to pay a backup center that much money.
