2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) 16,000, but who is counting? He should have a 16,000 sq foot park where his 16000 foot monument stands in the middle.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 24, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Stults is 31 years old. Anyways, wonder who we'll bring up. Still a decent 6th starter to have though.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) Stults is a much better pitcher than him Stults is more of a starter though. I wish we would have kept him. He's better than Axelrod and Stewart.

White Sox vs Twins
It amazes me how piece of s*** hitters like Casilla have success against us. I mean, come on, it's called a scouting report. The majority of the league is following it to a tee.

The Miami Marlins thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Yes, Ozzie is responsible for acquiring all the s***ty players. Ozzie is the devil. Ozzie is responsible for everything that's bad with our pathetic organization. Sorry I can't blame the demise of the Roman empire on Ozzie. He played Dunn. He could have benched him. He played Rios. He could have benched him. WHO ACQUIRED THOSE TWO PLAYERS??? Did he also aquire stiffs like Lilly and Escobar and some of the revolving relief hacks we employ? No but he pitched Jenks. He WANTED to lose. Sure he did. The man was and IS a very very good manager. He threw games? Please. Who didn't want Jim Thome? Oh yeah, Ozzie Guillen. What was the effect of this? Oh yeah, signing Adam Dunn. It's a domino effect.

Addison Reed IS the Sox closer
QUOTE (ptatc @ May 24, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) You don't have to have one but most of the really effective one do. From recent examples. Cutter: Rivera, Slider: Roberto Hernandez, Marmol, Changeup: Hoffman and Foulke, Curveball: Jenks. Again, I'm not sure it was right decision. I thought Reed looked better, but I can see why they might want to try it. Reed has an incredibly good slider comparable to the pitches a lot of those guys have. It's not like Reed is Jason Motte or Matt Thornton pumping nothing but fastballs.

Addison Reed IS the Sox closer
QUOTE (ptatc @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) I would disagree with that. I'm not saying he can't be. I think many people on this board wanted and still want Santiago to be a starter. However, the last time I checked this is not a message board for scouts and/or management in the majors. I agree that Reed looks to be a good closer candidate however, his doesn't have that "special" pitch which separate him from others. Santiago has a different pitch that could make him special. However, he decided to not throw strikes and that will obviously hurt him. I think it was a good gamble that hasn't worked out. You don't need a special pitch to be a closer. Would it be nice to have one? Sure, but guys like Rivera are one in a million. Reed has more than enough stuff to be a successful closer.

Slow pitch softball thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 24, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) Anyone here every play in a rec-level, or at least not super-competitive level softball league, and run into "that guy" who takes everything so seriously that he's a cartoon? My knee has been hurting so I was catching last night. This guy comes up, puts his hand to the ump for time, while he digs around in the box for about 20 minutes. Then he finally puts his hand down, and starts swinging the bat back and forth. So the ump says its on, the pitcher delivers a pitch, and just as the pitch is being delivered, he backs out of the box. Pitch is good, ump calls a strike. This dude looks at the umpire and says "come on man, I can't have a chance to get ready here? Do I need to f***ing say 'time out" or something?" And he's completely serious, looking all offended. The ump and I look at him, the ump says, "maybe you should. Will you get back in there now please?" Dude gets back in the box, all pissy, and proceeds to ground out to short, cussing all the way to first. Looks like you got a Derek Jeter situation.
