  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Adrian Gonzalez will start in RF today to try to solve the Red Sox's outfield woes, while getting Youkilis in the lineup (1B) and keeping Middlebrooks in the lineup (3B). Lol, that'll work out great.
  2. I would love a new play by play man who can bring excitement without horrible catch phrases and mad homerism. I used to really like Hawk when I was younger, but he's nothing more than a grumpy old guy to me at this point. I guess the question is, who would you replace him with?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 22, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Why is that vintage? People have mocked my style of posting before. I really don't care about numbers much. I do wish we had a third baseman with more pop than Hudson/Morel. It is true that Hudson isn't the answer. He's just another KW favorite we finally picked up. Are there any still out there? Teahen worked really well. I think we should have just given Lilly a chance to play every day. Hudson is blah. Look at his post and then look at yours.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) Marquis DFA today. So unfortunately the sox dont get to face an ex cub with a 8.47 ERA The Sox would have sucked against him.
  5. Walters loves giving up home runs. He's given up 4 though only 12 innings.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2012 -> 07:09 AM) That Giancarlo kid can really hit a baseball hard....wow That ball was a 462 foot line drive. God damn.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) So Brett Lawrie is all the way down to a .690 OPS? Man, I figured he would flat-out rake all season. He doesn't walk.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) this is a disgrace. Ozzie won a world series as manager. what did orlando hudson ever do? I hope Orlando Hudson blows up in kennys face. He is not an allstar player and he cant where that jersey number. kenny is disrespecting Ozzie here. that number should be retired. I just don t see why hudson has to wear Ozzies number. Vintage.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) Greg would s*** himself if O-Dawg wore 13. Yeah, Greg would go bats*** crazy and talk about how Hudson can never fill Ozzie's shoes.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:29 AM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi BREAKING: #Angels outfielder Vernon Wells will miss 8-10 weeks due to surgery on ulnar collateral ligament in right thumb tomorrow. Looks like that crowded OF got a lot less crowded. Borujos and Trout in the OF? Holy s*** defense.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) SO THE BIG QUESTION IS DOES F*CK YOU DO ME GIVE O-DAWG THE #1? Probably not. I'm betting Hudson will be wearing 13. He's worn 1, 13, and 30 before. 1 and 30 are already taken.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Probably not the right thread for this, but did anyone catch Sveum's postgame conference yesterday? He said something to the effect of "We were getting it together for a week, and then this last week...we haven't won a game...and then we get swept by the White Sox at home...I mean how much lower can it get than that?" I found that to be mildly offensive, honestly. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just referring to it being a rivalry and the team was disappointed to get swept by their cross-town mates...but it sure sounded as though he was saying we sucked to me... He's the manager of the Cubs. How much lower can that get?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2012 -> 07:33 AM) So... The Avengers was really just OK. Had some funny moments, some decent action, the 2nd easter egg was funny. But the writing was just incredibly clunky. I was expecting much better wit and dialogue from a Joss Wheadon production. It wasn't bad or anything, just... OK. You have high standards my friend.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah, this is my wife. This means she's a woman. This means the last thing she wants is to have her device hacked. Trust me, my Nook Tablet has been hacked since day 3. It's awesome - completely open, yet still works and looks like a NT. Haha, oh yeah, I didn't think about that.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) My wife has a Kindle Fire. It's a pain in the ass, so buggy. She's on her 2nd one already (only had the thing 5 months). I have the Nook Tablet, and it is 10x more reliable (and has the bonus microSD card slot). Screw the Fire OS crap, flash that s*** to 4.0. AOKP FTW. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614004
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 21, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) Dan Johnson is good for ghost riding Volvo's and hitting random clutch HRs against the Red Sox. Wasn't there a video of two kids ghost riding for Dan Johnson or some s***? lol
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 21, 2012 -> 07:14 AM) I wish this was followed by "Cleve;and Indians fans call out Chris Perez on being a douchebag, team sucking." It'll come soon enough. The Indians started out 30-15 last year or something and look where they ended up.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) @JoeStrauss: Early diagnosis is that Berkman did suffer torn ACL in R knee Saturday. Monday MRI to confirm. Both he and Craig will be on the DL now. Sucks for the Cardinals. Good thing they have a whole ton of depth though.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 20, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) Maybe he and Paulie will flip flop. Nah, Paulie is too established at first, but he definitely can give Paulie a rest two games a week maybe. It's not like Dunn is hitting poorly as a DH. A .896 OPS is still very good.
  20. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 20, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) It's based on runs scored vs. runs against, right? Someone has posted in other threads that we're the only team in the central with a positive run differential so you must be right, we must have the best Pythagorean in the division Yup and yup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_expectation
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) The average number of blown saves in the AL (for the entire bullpen) is 5. We have 7 now, tied with Toronto for first. We've lost 5 of those games. That's the kind of statistic that evens out, especially with Reed down there now...just like the Indians hadn't lost a single one-run game until this past weekend. So we can make legit arguments that we should be 22-20, 23-19 or maybe even 24-18. Tyler Flowers and Dayan Viciedo hit balls at the ends of those games that easily could have gone out, too...but, as the saying goes, you deserve the record you have. Considering we've gone through 3-4 different closers, no #2 hitter, and atrocious OPS numbers at 3B and SS, we're sitting in a pretty good position and only 2 1/2 games behind the Indians and ahead of the Tigers. That said, we've routinely beaten up on the Cubs in recent years, but that hasn't translated to beating the best teams in the AL East, the Rangers, Tigers, etc. Pythagorean W-L has us at 22-20 after today's game. If I'm not mistaken, that is the best in the division as well.
  22. Time for the Sox to get on a roll. We need to sweep Minnesota too. No excuses with how awful that team is.
  23. Indiana's bigs never got going. Hansbrough kept traveling on wide open looks at the basket. Hibbert was in foul trouble. West missed open shots. Haslem also got going. Kind of reminds me of game 2 of last year's ECF. Haslem came out of nowhere and provided a huge boost for the Heat.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Get ahead of somebody you moron Matt's getting old. He's losing control and velocity.
  25. Darwin Barney's got no power.
