2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
Greinke hates us. He's never coming here. Not that we should want him either.

White Sox Interested in Naperville Legend Nicky Lopez
All the projection systems have him at around 80 wRC+. If he gives you 1.5 wins of value on defense (which is what he's done the past 2 seasons and then some) then that's useful.

And he had a .283 xwOBA that year. His wOBA was almost 50 points higher. He probably won't produce as well as he did that year on offense again, but I also doubt be will be as bad as he was last year offensively. I'm not opposed to him since his defense gives him an ok floor. If he can slap singles with a .330 OBP he'll be useful.

Yay it's left handed Nick Madrigal...

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
Cleveland may be good at developing pitchers, but it seems like most of the starters they produce are assholes.

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
The girlfriend has been informing the MLB of this since summer. How the hell did the FO miss this?

Oh great, we signed a wife beater. This has been the off-season from hell.

I would have liked to give Mondesi a shot. He's decent when he's healthy. He's just never healthy.

Giolito revamped mechanics
That arm action was also a TJS ago. I'm not sure he's got the same arm strength he did back then.

Giolito revamped mechanics
I'm not sure getting rid of his short arm action is the right thing to do. It was the thing that made him effective because the release point made it hard to pick up the ball out of his hand. He also threw harder with the short arm action vs. his long arm action prior. I'm sure there's people way more knowledgeable than me advising him, but Lucas decided to bulk up last off-season and it didn't really help him.

Didn't they hear from Pedro? He's a right fielder now.

Yeah he's basically Adam Engel's replacement. Looks like his defense didn't drop off like Engel's, so there's that.

Gary Sanchez Twitter rumor
They must know Yaz is done if they're going after Sanchez.

Sox Sign Hanser Alberto
Who are you going to trade for Gleyber? Not Hendriks, obviously.

Sox Sign Hanser Alberto
Not a bad depth guy to have. But if he's our regular 2B, we're gonna be in trouble.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
They already signed one douchebag to a 6 year deal, might as well sign another.

2nd base is easier to play than SS and by all accounts he was at least a decent defensive shortstop. He also played on the 2B side of the diamond on shifts quite a bit, so it's not like he hasn't fielded a ball on that side of the field before. If he were to play 2B full-time he can learn all the intricacies of the position in ST. The question with Andrus isn't whether or not he can play 2B defensively, it's whether he'll hit better than the 75 wRC+ he put up in the years prior to last season.

Liam Hendriks is cancer free
Booo, this really isn't the thread for posts like this.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
Why couldn't Manny Machado have a bum ankle?
-
Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
I can only laugh at Correa losing out on a ton of money, but the fact that he's on the Twins for the next 6 years doesn't make it so funny.

Sure looks like the physical won't be an issue this time around.

Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
Is there a chance he gets surgery and can't play much next year?
-
Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M
I guess the Twins know more about Correa's injury than the other teams, so they may be less likely to back out than the other teams.

Correa once again falls to the Twins...ugh.
