could be something (most likely not)
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) ur completely right. so the red sox are going to get gonzalez by giving them buchholz (and prospects) yet we would have to give up danks or floyd (and prospects) b.s. Typical Red Sox bulls***. Buchholz is vastly overrated.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) Bernstein is talking about Juan Pierre right now on the Score... Damn it... Well, Juan Pierre is better than nothing, depending on what we gave up.

Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) MLB2K10 to blame for Take-Two's slump and losses. This should mean that Visual Concepts will try harder. Visual Concepts were the ones that revived the 2K baseball series again with MLB 2K5. They screwed up the game last year, but we'll see how they'll adjust this year.

Computer Help
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Tried re-installing Windows but it gets to a point where I am suppose to select a driver yet no drive shows up to choose. This is all my fault cuz I accidently downloaded a virus. Scanning again.... Make sure you boot up with the Windows DVD and choose custom install. If you did that and it gives you that result, it probably means that Windows can't see your HDD and you're pretty much screwed. You can either get another HDD and do a clean install on that or you can try and format your old HDD by putting it in another system as a slave drive or an external and reformatting it through Windows. That's if Windows recognizes it.

Would Troy Glaus be a fit for DH?
It would seem like somebody Kenny would go after. Cheap, injury prone, possibly over the hill, but still has a high reward potential.

Beckett, Lester, Lackey. If Matsuzaka ever gets it back together, that'd be one hell of a rotation.

How much do you care about Ks?
For the most part, a strikeout is the worst out you can have since it does not put a ball in play. But then again, balls in play can lead to more outs if there are men on base because of the possibility of a double play. Although more often than not, you'd take a ball in play over a strikeout. So you'd rather have a hitter that strikes out less. However, with Cust, his OBP and power should make up whatever he lacks in. I'd be okay with getting Cust, but I think we can do better.

Kelly Johnson a fit?
Johnson's certainly another option. I see that in his short stint (80 some games) in LF with the Braves in 2005, he put up some great numbers.

Sox Could Non-Tender Carrasco
They could just have Hudson come out of the bullpen and mop up... As great as D.J. is in his role, his role isn't very important considering we have 4 very effective starters.
-
Sox sign Putz
Good signing, it definitely upgrades the bullpen a lot if he's healthy. When healthy, Putz is a hell of a pitcher.
-
Sox interested in Yanks' Brett Gardner
Realistically, what would it take to get him?

Sox in on JJ Putz?
QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 06:57 PM) I find it really interesting how KW's FA moves are becoming so public. It seems everyone knows that he pursuing Putz and Matsui and expect it to happen, which is contrary to his historical trend. Yet we have no clue what will happen in the OF. It's Cowley's fault bra.

If Penny got $7.5 million, this Harden deal is a good one.

Randy Wolf Signs with the Brew Crew
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) BABIP alone proves a little less than nothing. For a veteran whose had a long history and a BABIP of around .300, a BABIP of .225 just doesn't fit. In this case, it alone can tell a lot. Of course, you can look at what trajectory the balls were, but in Wolf's case, I don't even think that's necessary. He also had the second lowest BAA in his career. These things correlate. Large ballpark + low BABIP = success.

Randy Wolf Signs with the Brew Crew
QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Had a pretty damn good under the radar last year. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4727757 Pitching in a pitcher's park. He had a career low in BABIP (50 points below his career average), most of it was luck.

Hideki Matsui
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Jon Heyman- told #whitesox not going for hideki #matsui, despite internet whispers. theyre looking for leadoff: podsednik, pierre, crisp? Isn't Cowley like traveling with Kenny and Ozzie? He might know more.

Hideki Matsui
I feel that the Sox should act now. It seems like right now is our best chance to get him. Throw 2 years and $15 million at him, he'll probably take that. Playing the waiting game with two organizations with more money is dangerous.
