  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Linebrink's up, but they'll give Mark every chance to finish this. I honestly don't see why Ozzie doesn't start warming up Jenks to back Mark up. Unless Bobby's got a health issue, that shouldn't happen. It's still a save opportunity right now, Linebrink makes me puke in save situations, and Bobby hasn't worked in a while.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) We've been hotter than any team in baseball. How bout dem Rays? Last time we said this, we lost a series to the A's and Indians at home. I prefer to keep quiet about that.
  3. Both the Twins and Tigers have the night off. So the Sox can get 2.5 back if they get three more outs and hang on. Mark's probably going out there in the 9th I believe. He's only thrown about 90 pitches.
  4. At least he won't miss a lot of time. Good news.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) If the Marlins offered Hanley for Slayer straight up, would you do it? Please say yes. This time last year, the idea of Quentin for Lincecum came up, and everyone said you had to keep TCQ. What kind of question is that? Of course...
  6. I was 14 rows away from the first base dugout twice.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) I'd be willing to bet he's actually between 39 - 41 years old. I wouldn't doubt that. He looks 50.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) But he's terrible. When you're left handed, you'll always have a job somewhere. You have to wonder why Jimmy Gobble is still on our roster. The bad thing here is, his change-up is his best pitch. Yikes. Looks like that's the formula to beat the Sox this year: throw a bad left-handed pitcher with a change-up that everybody else hits.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) Pablo Sandoval... the best nickname in baseball right now. He could pass for Kung Fu Panda.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Bruce Chen is still in baseball? He's not even that old. He's only 32.
  11. I don't know about an extension. We want to go younger, not older. Jose's great, but at his age, any kind of an extension worth more than $5 million per for two or more years is out of the question. He's a great guy to have here for Alexei and Dayan in the future, but he's not 27, he's 37. Plus, if he really finishes off the season well, he may get picked up by some other team for a good amount of money on a short term deal. I don't think the Sox are going to pursue him if that happens.
  12. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) Some video from SSS His delivery looks so...awkward. It doesn't look fluid.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) but how do you feel about cotton candy? What about the AFLAC duck?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) Did that before, and broke the tip of my finger. I missed a week of games. Let's just hope that's the worst it can be. We're going to need Alexei against the Twins.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) Throws over 100? Nice. What kind of security does Cuba have on the ballplayers when they're out of Cuba? How's his control? Not good, I'm assuming. When you throw that hard, control might not be necessary. Although Joel Zumaya can't say the same. Looking at his stats... He had a 3.57 ERA throwing 102. That's not that good. He also walked 141 in 209 innings. That's not good control.
  16. QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) puke, why do i watch ATH? Why? 2 jackasses agreed with Paige that Wrigley was better than US cellular, and stated that US Cell is the worst park in baseball. Is Hineybird's idiocy rubbing off on Paige?
  17. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) He sure looks happy. Bet he wish he was next to his ex-wife that moment. Is he still even involved with Madonna?
  18. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Didn't see the game, what's injured/what happened? Something wrong with his middle finger. Stone said it might have been because the ball hit him there while he was trying to field a grounder.
  19. I hope the wallpaper curse does not apply to Gordon Beckham. Nice work.
  20. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) no beckham at ss? I don't think the Sox want to mess with that right now. It would be the smart decision in the short run, but it seems like the Sox want him to get reps at 3rd right now. If this was a video game, I would put Beckham at SS and play either Fields or Nix at 3B. Unfortunately, it's not.
  21. I really think that Beckham needs to get moved to at least the 7th hole. Having BA or Getz bat in front of him seems kind of silly. And he really needs to bat 6th when A.J. gets a day off.
  22. Not good. Hopefully it's nothing serious and the worst is day to day. In the meantime, we might get to see Jayson Nix at SS a bit more. I'm not going to complain.
  23. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) Looks like we're finally up to '0' in the run differential. ha. Bout damn time. When your staff ERA is as low as ours, you better be good in RD.
  24. Jose was very good tonight. ERA below 5 now. Beckham continues to impress and we get the big blow from an unlikely guy. Great series, good win tonight. I think we need to really take care of business in KC.
  25. Only 3 back. Took this team a while to figure out Sowers, but they got the job done.
