Would you trade DeMar in a deal for AD?

GT 6-4: Dodgers @ Sox (7:10pm)
Gotta thank Dave Roberts for bringing in a lefty to face our righties. It's almost the only time we have a shot at scoring.

GT 6-4: Dodgers @ Sox (7:10pm)
The Pirates scored 3 runs off White in 5 innings. We don't even have a hit through 4.

Mendick always has a nice stretch every year and then ends up sucking for the rest of the year or gets sent down. His statcast numbers aren't exactly encouraging or saying that anything is different this year.

Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
Pretty much any position player we sign or trade for ends up regressing. The lone exception recently is Grandal and we're seeing the regression right now, 2 years after signing him. James McCann is probably the other exception, but even he regressed back to the mean after we smartly didn't re-sign him. Just look at the track record for the past 5 years. 2017: Didn't really sign any one 2018: Wellington Castillo - Came off a strong year with Baltimore only to put up 0.2 WAR and eventually got busted for PEDs. 2019: Yonder Alonso - Became the 2nd coming of Adam Dunn after a declining season with Cleveland in 2018. Retired after 2019. James McCann - did end up improving with the Sox and had about 140 games of production on offense. Is now a pumpkin with the Mets. Jon Jay - brought in cause he was Machado's friend. Was pretty much worthless. 2020: Edwin Encarnacion - Regressed heavily with the Yankees at the end of 2019. Basically forgot how to hit a baseball in 2020 and is out of the game. 2021: Adam Eaton - Terrible with the Nats in 2020. Was good for like a month until his body gave out. Is now retired and a coach. 2022: Josh Harrison - had a good few months with the Nationals in 2021 and then bombed after a trade to the A's. Heavy regression (seeing a theme here?) AJ Pollock - had a near career year in 2021 only to forget how to hit any sort of breaking pitch with the Sox.

Joe Maddon has been fired
In an interview with The Athletic: Looks like the FO was way more interested in new-age analytics than Maddon and that's part of the reason he got fired. I guess it kind of makes sense as Maddon was known as one of the big analytics managers in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Pre-Statcast era. It's a different ball game now.

Joe Maddon has been fired
Maddon did intentionally walk a guy with the bases loaded this year though. Maddon does his share of weird moves, but he's at least a manager from this decade.

2021-22 NBA Thread
Gobert raises the floor of this team a ton in the regular season. But his effectiveness in the postseason is an issue and if the Bulls were to acquire him, they'd have very few assets to acquire any shooters outside of the MLE and the 18th pick. You can also argue that Gobert would clog the paint up for DeRozan quite a bit. I'm not sure those 2 are a great combination. If Zack were to sign elsewhere, you can possibly acquire shooting help with a S&T. I've seen some Herro+Lowry trade situations for LaVine pop up, although I'm not sure why Miami would be into a trade like that.

Joe Maddon has been fired
Sox and Angels have the same record, yet TLR's job security is not even in question to the White Sox. Just crazy.

Joe Maddon has been fired
I'll take Maddon over TLR any day of the week.

His numbers aren't awesome or anything this year, but man, his OPS is like 200 points higher than Leury or Harrison's. Those 2 combined make more than Escobar this year.

Keuchel signs with Diamondbacks- minor league deal
There's a chance we'll face him when we play Arizona in August.

Select Rays players opt to not wear rainbow logo during pride night
It's weird that they're all relievers. Turns out that the Rays' success with relievers is good ol' Christianity. Also, that 2 run shot by Burger off Beeks yesterday feels even better.

It's a Journey - We remember 2005
Dude who cares? Every team that wins the World Series gets some sort of luck. Are you going to dock the Braves points cause they didn't face McCullers last year? The fact that the 05 Sox tied for the best postseason record in MLB history should be enough to tell you that the team was special. Just because they got lucky or that the success didn't last past that year shouldn't take away anything from that 05 team.

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Crazy how when Tony put all the guys who are hitting at the top together that we end up scoring more than 3 runs.
-
Trade deadline
Oh he'd love working with the Sox then. He'll get to hit all the ground balls he desires.
-
Trade deadline
Nah man, Yankees fans would never give up Andujar for Sheets when they could get <insert big trade deadline chip> for him.
-
GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Tony probably has the final say. I've seen way too many instances of him leaving guys in for way too long to think that Katz would be ok with all of those decisions.

Eloy rehab starts again 6/21
Lynn averaged 91 on the fastball and 90 on the sinker. He's clearly not quite there yet. The homer he gave up was to DeJong, so at least it wasn't some random no-name minor leaguer. Tyler O'Neil was also on rehab, so he was facing some real MLB hitters.

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Angels just got walked off by Stott. Sox are half a game back of the last WC spot.

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Bat dropping a 350 foot fly ball to CF...he might actually be cooked.

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Why not just let Bummer face Choi?
-
GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Even in a game where they score a lot of runs, the Sox leave so many runs on base that could have put this game away.
-
GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Lucas' slider has been batting practice his past 2 starts.

GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)
Why is he still in? TLR leaves guys in for way too long to die on the mound. He did the same shit with Cueto last week.
