Arb cases happening today
I think Lucas probably would have taken that deal had the option not been in there. No matter how much you thought he would get in arb, he was gonna make anywhere from 20-27 million in that last year of the deal. He'd still hit free agency at age 30 while setting up his family for life basically. But if he gets to free agency at age 31, the likelihood of him getting a 5 or 6 year deal basically goes out the window.

3/24 ST Game: Giants vs White Sox, 3:05 PM CST
.250/.300/.450. I'm not asking for much here lol. Hell if we got a consistent .750 OPS out of right field last year, we wouldn't be so worried about the position.

Arb cases happening today
Arb 1 - $4 million Arb 2 - $7.5 million Arb 3 - $11 million Let's assume those are the arbitration salaries for Gio. Unless he goes and wins the Cy Young next year, I think $11-12 million is what he's gonna get next year. That means that the Sox were basically willing to pay him $27.5 million in his walk-year. I'm not sure what the team option would have been, but I wouldn't call that deal a slap in the face.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Translation: the Sox didn't want to spend more than $18 million on Rodon. If they wanted him back, it would have been far less than that. Rodon obviously went elsewhere because teams were willing to give him a lot more money.

Hell, he could probably reach that if he threw 110 innings.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
It's probably in Heyman's interest to put as many team names out there as he can to show that there is interest in Conforto. He and Boras are buddies after all.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Toronto would be one of his biggest suitors, but him not being vaccinated basically takes them out of the running.

What is it with Bay Area catchers actively trying to kill our OFers?

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Graveman. It's a possibility that he got the vaccine after the signing though. After all, the Sox did give him the 2nd highest reliever contract this off-season. I'm sure $ can always convince someone to take a vaccine.

Conforto also isn't vaccinated. The Sox mandated all their minor leaguers get the booster shot. I wonder if vaccination status could have been a possible snag in negotiations between the Sox and Conforto.

2021-22 NBA Thread
No DeRozan tonight, who is out with a groin injury. A game they should probably win just got a lot tougher.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
Whenever he had the chance to start and throw his curve ball, he was way better. He actually was kinda meh as a reliever after he got hurt. Probably because he strictly became a 2 pitch pitcher out of the bullpen.

I noticed Jose is actually wearing a shin guard. That's new. When will he start wearing an elbow guard?

Will the whining never end?
Also, since when is having too much talent a bad thing? Our farm system is TERRIBLE. It wouldn't be the worst thing for a prospect to develop enough to the point where we could trade him in case we have too much talent on the ML roster.

I love how water carrying is now a frequent phrase used around here.

TLR tried this last year and it didn't work. Now he's at it again. Yoan hit .190/.271/.270 from the 4 spot last year in 63 AB. He was actually most productive from the 3 spot. Maybe hit Abreu cleanup and move Moncada to 3rd.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I don't think the Sox were ever gonna match that Semien deal. But looking at the pitching market after the CBA, that Ray deal doesn't look bad at all. In fact, I thought it was fairly reasonable when he signed it. I think the Sox missed out on the Bassitt deal the most. The Mets absolutely got a steal there.

lol this is a good point

Tapia makes peanuts compared to Grichuk. This might open up some money for them to sign Conforto. Tapia is a 4th OFer.

Is Jason Peters still gonna play next year? PFF actually graded him pretty well last year for a guy nearing 40.

I just noticed who reported that. Is that Boob's son?

Pham absolutely fell off the face of the earth in the 2nd half last year.

Well if you put it that way... I don't know if that's more of a critique of the Pirates & Orioles or Rick Hahn.
