  1. Not really, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers. He's still pretty fast and he's close to average in LF according to all the metrics. His arm is actually one of his worst attributes defensively, which is why he's playing LF.
  2. It was probably the best trade available out there. The question is would you rather have Pollock for 1 year or somebody like Rosario at 2/$18 million in free agency? Cause that's probably who we end up with if we don't pick up the Kimbrel option.
  3. Pre-injury, I think Conforto was a better bet to actually play 150 games. The shoulder injury really puts a wrench into how many games he'll actually be able to play this year. Pollock is definitely better in terms of value per plate appearance. He just has trouble giving you more than 400 PAs.
  4. Without Manaea, Kopech was probably only gonna throw 3-4 innings with Velasquez bridging the other 3 innings anyhow. Kinda like what they did last night against Cincy.
  5. Reylo was probably one of the best long relievers in baseball last year. His relief numbers were insane last year.
  6. We're definitely dangling Sheets in that trade now.
  7. We're gonna live or die by Reylo and Velasquez aren't we?
  8. At his CBT salary, he's probably paid correctly. But we're really taking on either $15 million or $18 million for a 1 year deal here, so we're paying him like he's a 2 WAR player. That's probably what will happen, but we'll see.
  9. Not sure how the math will work out, the signing bonus is given out every year, so we might have to pay it?
  10. No Kelly for most of April might suck, but we've still got 3 dependable relievers in Liam, Bummer, Graveman. With Crochet and Kelly, hurt, Crick probably makes the team. We just gotta hope he turns out to be good to cover the 5th/6th inning.
  11. If there's any team that was gonna fix Kimbrel, it's either the Dodgers or Rays.
  12. He makes $10 million, but there's a $3 million signing bonus. So this is really a 1 year $18 million deal.
  13. Seems like Dodgers fans don't like this trade.
  14. Pollock used to play CF and still does on occasions. I'm sure he'll be fine in RF. His defense is nothing to write home about, but it's at least average.
  15. I guess it's better than the Blue Jays' situation where their entire lineup is right handed lol
  16. Kimbrel on the Sox had bust potential all over it, cause we've already seen it.
  17. Probably, but it's scary to go into the season without a single halfway decent left handed bat.
  18. Funny, you can use that exact same description about Kimbrel. I think the trade is a win-win for both teams. Both filled holes they had with guys who are older with a potential to bust.
  19. Pollock, while injury-prone has played at least half the games per season in the last 3 seasons. Including 117 games last year and the full year in the shortened 2020 season. He's projected for .268/.321/.484 by ZiPS in 405 PA (108 G). I think combined with Engel, they can cover RF. The games they can't cover, there's always Vaughn. This is the OF depth we really needed. Pollock is a solid 3 WAR per 600 PA type guy. We just probably won't get the 600 PAs.
  20. Between Pollock and Engel, they should be able to get at least 130 games, right?
  21. lol Boob is wrong again?
  22. Oh sweet we get money back too.
  23. So that's why Kimbrel didn't pitch last night
  24. Ugh, felt like TJS was inevitable for him, I just didn't expect it to be this soon. Seems like he's gonna stay a reliever.
  25. I thought Kimbrel was supposed to pitch after Velasquez. Safe to say I was shocked to see the game was still 7-1 in the 6th. I thought Kimbrel would have come in and given up a few runs for sure.
