  1. Cueto's probably been sitting on his ass doing nothing all off-season. It'll probably take him at least 2-3 weeks before he can pitch.
  2. Is this an educated guess or do you actually know?
  3. Skubal was nasty last year too. He's just very prone to giving up bombs.
  4. Meadows always kicks our ass, so from that standpoint, this really sucks. He has a 1.225 OPS against us in 49 PAs.
  5. This division went from having 2 80+ win teams to possibly having 4 80+ win teams. Shit is getting real.
  6. Madrigal would need to hit the ball in the air a lot more. Altuve does hit a lot of grounders, but he also has a much higher launch angle than Madrigal. I don't think it's farfetched to think that Nick can develop 10 home run power, but I really don't see him hitting 30 a year like Altuve is capable of. Plus he doesn't play in a park with a 310 foot fence down the left field line.
  7. I guess you can say it's been a Disastre Personal.
  8. If the Sox are actually interested, I'd imagine it can't take much to get someone like Brubaker unless Pittsburgh really likes him. Might be a good opportunity to give Adolfo a new home along with another low minors guy the Pirates might like.
  9. Hey it's not that often you get to acquire an opening day starter like Brubaker lol
  10. I'm pretty sure we singlehandedly broke J.A. Happ last year. We scored 15 runs off him in 6.1 innings in back to back starts. His ERA goes from 5.79 to 5.11 if you take away those starts from his stat line. Still bad, but not as bad. I think guys like Happ can live if you put a great defense like the Cardinals' defense behind him. On this team, he probably doesn't have the same fortunes.
  11. So much for Sousa taking Crochet's spot in the bullpen.
  12. San Francisco is no longer a pitcher's park. It's much more neutral after they moved the fences in 2020. It was the most pitcher friendly park in 2019, but since 2020, it's been almost neutral.
  13. Velasquez already cost $3 million. Cueto's going to want at least $5 million. That's already $8 million of the $18 million QO we should have offered to him.
  14. That trade makes a lot of sense for both sides, but didn't Meadows get hurt yesterday?
  15. Paddack is actually very similar to Giolito. Except his change up isn't as good and he doesn't have a slider like Lucas' to keep hitters more honest. But before last year, Giolito was basically a 2 pitch pitcher as well. One redeeming quality of Paddack is that he still had good peripherals and his velocity actually went up a bit last year. Add on the fact that the Sox developed a very similar pitcher and I think he has room to grow in the org.
  16. Then he's gonna b**** and moan and be a clubhouse cancer like he is in San Diego right now. No thanks.
  17. Unless our coaching staff can teach Hosmer how to lift the ball, I'm gonna hate watching him play no matter how much he's getting paid. He's basically Leury Garcia at first base. Also, how does the $30 million work in terms of CBT?
  18. He's definitely a better option than Velasquez
  19. The Twins were looking at Cueto and signed Archer instead. That either means you should want Cueto cause Minnesota's track record of picking up FA SPs has been terrible recently or Cueto looked so bad that Minnesota didn't even want him.
  20. It almost seems like he just has poor hand-eye coordination. You can only teach people to be good at something if they've got the physical ability to do it.
  21. Collins just doesn't even bother to present the pitch. I've never seen someone stab at the ball like him. He'll also catch the ball with his glove sideways at times. No umpire is gonna give a pitcher a call on those. McGuire is obviously really good at it. Better than Grandal.
  22. Ugh, so he'll be out at least 8 weeks I'm guessing?
  23. I thought Yoan hit that one out.
  24. Defense really screwed him this inning.
