I had doubts about how we would hit and those doubts were realized for the most part. I did not think all of our starters would totally crap their pants collectively though. At worst I thought we were gonna get swept and at best I thought we could win in 4 if we stole a game in Houston. For 4.5 innings, that looked like it was gonna be possible in game 2.

Yeah, but Cease still has a ways to go to become a top end starter. Robert doing what he did despite losing a lot of his speed was definitely encouraging. This team needs pieces to take it to the next level. I think our lack of playoff experience really showed. Our starters looked amazing for one inning and then once the adrenaline wore off they crapped their pants. At the very least it's an experience for guys like Cease and even Lucas.

We still would have needed to beat them to get out of the AL.

Yeah it was real disappointing. 2nd half outside of a few moments was a slog and boring af. It felt like winning 2 or 3 games a week would be a good week for this team during August and September. The lack of development from Kopech and Crochet to be starters next year was disappointing. Eloy was awful after August and took a step back from his season in 2020. Moncada, while having a good year, lost most of his power and a lot of his value was based on walks and defense. We just weren't good enough.
