Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
As bad as Bellinger was last year, he still has more value than Pollock just because of the upside alone. Bellinger was actually decent in the playoffs last year and I wouldn't really take the ST strikeout issues too seriously.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
I wonder if this injury affects the trade market for Manaea. Mets need SPs again.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Wow that really sucks for deGrom. Throwing 100+ all the time definitely catches up with you eventually.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Lynn was basically a 4-5 WAR pitcher when we traded for him on a very affordable contract. Manaea had a career season last year and barely eclipsed 3 WAR. I don't think they're even in the same league.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
He hits the ball very hard. And he hits balls in the air 60% of the time, which is sorely needed on a team that hits a ton of ground balls. If he's healthy enough for 500 PAs, I can easily see him giving us 25 homers. Big if though.

MLB Umpires to Begin Announcing Replay Decisions
I can't imagine MLB umpires trying to explain calls to the stadium like they do in the NFL and NBA. It's probably going to be really awkward.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Saw this when reading the LF power rankings at FanGraphs. So, over the course of about a full season's PAs, Pollock has produced like a 35 homer guy the past 2 years. That's seriously impressive.

Yeah it could be a lot worse. Let's just hope we can make it out of the group.

Manaea can easily get the deal Eduardo Rodriguez got this off-season if he just pitches well this season. I don't seem him doing an extension with us, especially when Boras is his client.

Supply and demand. Oakland pretty much holds the last 2 starting pitchers you can get. We really should have moved on Bassitt.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
I don't think so. He was healthy all of 2020.

Pollock's injuries the last 2 years have all been hamstring related. We've already got one guy in RF with hamstring problems, now we have 2. Hamstring issues were very prevalent in baseball last year though, so hopefully that was because of the 60 game season.

Score the Offseason!
Right now, it's a C for me. If they get Manaea without giving up a ton, easily a B.

Those 2 are also way higher profile prospects though.

Burger's value isn't very high. Especially to a team like Oakland, since Burger is pretty much ML ready when they're years away from competing.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Sheets has Oakland player written all over him TBH. I'm split on him. On one hand, what he did was in a small sample and probably not representative of who he is over a full season. On the other hand, it's been a long time since we've had a power bat like him from the left side that's actually been exciting. If what happened last year was real, he's easily a 30 homer guy over a full season. Even if he plays no defense, that has a lot of value.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Yeah...I'm not sure I want to trade for another Oakland pitcher who's from the Chicago Suburbs. The last one didn't work out real well for us.

Seems like he's a Cardinals fan?

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
The guy that throws nearly all fastballs and only throws 93? No thanks. Atlanta didn't want him back and I can see why. He was lost after the sticky ban.

Ugh, that's a pretty solid group we're in. All teams ranked in the top 25 of FIFA, assuming Wales gets through their playoff.

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
Hard to believe he was fully healthy last year when he was throwing 95 at times.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Pollock probably gets $5+ million next year in a deal if he's any decent this year and plays at least half the season. From a money standpoint, he's probably going to opt-out. But if he really likes it here, maybe he stays.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Not really, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers. He's still pretty fast and he's close to average in LF according to all the metrics. His arm is actually one of his worst attributes defensively, which is why he's playing LF.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
It was probably the best trade available out there. The question is would you rather have Pollock for 1 year or somebody like Rosario at 2/$18 million in free agency? Cause that's probably who we end up with if we don't pick up the Kimbrel option.

Pre-injury, I think Conforto was a better bet to actually play 150 games. The shoulder injury really puts a wrench into how many games he'll actually be able to play this year. Pollock is definitely better in terms of value per plate appearance. He just has trouble giving you more than 400 PAs.
