  1. lmfao Vaughn at 2B? They're really throwing this game away.
  2. They seem to understand it on Reddit but are surprised they traded him to us. A lot of them don't think they can really compete this year due to the injuries to Bieber and Civale. Both are at least 3 weeks from a return and they're 8.5 games back..
  3. They all have 112 wRC+...that's actually funny.
  4. Wait it wasn't for Frazier and Andujar? Impossible!
  5. Yeah he's a huge reason they're still a .500 team. He just hit a go ahead homer for them yesterday and always seems to sneak homers in when you least expect it.
  6. At least this probably means Goodwin stops getting starts in CF.
  7. I think it's because Escobar actually has a track record of being a good home run hitter. Hernandez never hit for much power before this year. He's on pace to hit nearly 30 and his previous career high was like 15. But like I pointed out, he's trying something new this year and it's gotten him 18 homers.
  8. This is what happens when you eyeball for a Tepera trade. If it happens nobody gives you credit because it's a trade for a middle reliever. If it doesn't happen you look like an idiot. Come on foodies, you gotta look at the risk/reward here!
  9. It kind of is considering he hit better after his supposed injury. Unless they were talking about vaccination status, like Ron mentioned.
  10. His home run numbers are because of the change in approach and barrel%. Good thing GRate is a better hitter's park than Cleveland. Statcast has him at 19 expected homers if he played all his games at GRate.
  11. I'm not mad at the return. I just think Cleveland is good at developing pitchers.
  12. For those that think Hernandez's HR output isn't sustainable: he's upped his barrel rate by 6% this year over his career norms. That's also 3x higher than his career norms. Is he just running into the ball more? Possibly. But it also just looks like a change in his approach.
  13. TLR is totally gonna hit him in the 2 spot isn't he?
  14. This has been Leury's thing his entire career. His OPS vs. bad teams is 150 points higher than his OPS vs. good ones. Leury as a 2B in the playoffs was never going to work.
  15. You really think Leury and his .474 OPS vs. teams above .500 is the same as having a league average hitter with pop at 2B? BTW, Hernandez's splits vs. good teams looks about the same as his splits vs. bad teams.
  16. Story has been worse than Hernandez this year, even if you don't adjust for Coors. I'm glad they didn't get him just because he's a big name player.
  17. He seems like the type of pitcher Cleveland is good at developing. Low 90s fastball, but decent secondary stuff.
  18. The disagreement between OAA and UZR is odd as well. Yoan grades out poorly at OAA but UZR likes him. Hernandez is the same. It's honestly hard to just trust UZR anymore since I don't think it takes positioning into account at all unlike DRS and OAA.
  19. Watch Cleveland turn him into a useful starter.
  20. We have enough guys who get on base. We're 2nd in baseball in OBP. What we need is guys who can give us pop and surprisingly, Hernandez has done that this year. He has as many homers as Abreu.
  21. They dump salary and open up a spot for Gimenez. I'm sure on the surface this looks like them surrendering, but I don't think it is.
  22. He's been a victim of some bad BABIP luck, but his power has kind of made up for it this year.
  23. I'm just glad they did something. Hernandez isn't a big name, but he's still a productive player that at least hits good pitching way better than Garcia. We really couldn't afford to have Leury's bat going into the playoffs at 2B full-time.
  24. Hudson was god awful last year too.
  25. Escobar had a 105 wRC+. Hernandez is at exactly 100. Both switch hitters, both good fielders at 2B. They're very close.
