Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
He's either Luis Robert without the defense or Eloy Jimenez without a hit tool.

Bulls are way closer to a top 4 pick than a play in tournament spot. LaVine is back, I just hope they don't pass up Toronto or Sacramento. There's about a 32% chance they land top 4 and keep next year's pick.

Gallo makes sense. White Sox and Rangers have a good trade relationship already with 2 deals made in the last 2 seasons.

If all they do is sign Goodwin, I'd be mad. But what did you expect them to do in less than 24 hours after the Robert news?

It's a minor league deal too. Got nothing to lose here basically.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
Can we get a Tony La Russa banner?

Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
I guess this is better than hoping Nick Williams finds his 2017-2018 form. At least he was half decent as recently as last season.

Kenny always gets his guy!

2.8 fWAR over 357 games is a lot more fair. So over 162, he's a 1-1.5 WAR player. When you're in desperate need of OF depth and he doesn't cost anything but a minimum ML contract, you take it.

If this means we won't see Leury hit against righties as much, I'm all for it. Goodwin was an average MLer in 2019.

Grandal has a .324 OBP despite hitting .130 and most of the fanbase hates him. Gallo has a chance to be Adam Dunn that can play defense, I'll say that much. I wish he'd actually go back to hitting for more power, as he's basically a single/walk guy right now.

We also had Abreu and TA destroying the ball last year. Grandal also wasn't hitting .130. We can still win with this roster, but the veterans and leaders need to step up.

Blackmon hasn't played CF since 2018 and when he did he wasn't real good at it. You can stick him in a corner and he'll be fine though. He's also 34 and no longer as fast as he used to be. You'd have to move Eaton back to CF (not the best option IMO) and put Blackmon in RF.

Yeah but how sincere is he?

Are we gonna hang Robert's jersey in the dugout now?

Especially if he takes playing time away from Yermin.

Gallo would be a nice get. He can even play CF. He's also arb 3 next year so you can get him for 2 years. Anything worth a lick of value is probably going to require Crochet to get though, unfortunately. Our system is just super shallow right now.

I'm afraid Marte might be worth way more than what we can offer in the farm.

And you wonder why most of this board was crying for some depth pieces in the off-season. Nobody could have predicted that Robert and Eloy would be out for extended periods of time, but you need to have depth there just in case. Now we'll probably have to overpay for a replacement. Being cheap in the short run ends up hurting in the long run.

This is Jake Peavy's lat injury all over again isn't it.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
Of course it would be the worst possible version of the injury. FUCK.

I don't think so. All the ranges I've seen for recovery time are in the 4 to 6 week range.

They weren't trading him to a team across town. I bet we'd have to pay a premium.
