  1. Remember when Dan Clark said they were the frontrunners a few days ago? The curse of Dan Clark strikes again.
  2. Stammen re-signed with the Padres
  3. The problem I see with Cishek is that he got absolutely lit up in the 2nd half of last year. His ERA didn't show it, but his peripherals were terrible. There is a lot to like about him though. His statcast numbers on EV and Hard Hit % are excellent and he's been pretty consistent throughout the years.
  4. I hope this doesn't take the Nats out of the Donaldson sweepstakes.
  5. If money is around the same I have a hard time seeing him leave Atlanta.
  6. 2 extra years of Robert. Excellent.
  7. Gotta be somewhat similar to Eloy's deal right?
  8. I feel like the Cardinals and Twins get the most out of their guys. Shit just goes right for those orgs no matter what and it's annoying af.
  9. One more thing on Bailey: he had a ERA near 6 and an FIP over 5 on the road when he wasn't pitching in KC and Oakland. Those are 2 of the friendliest parks for HR and run suppression. Target field is more neutral albeit still a pitchers park. It's just interesting how drastic his splits were.
  10. Had the Sox whiffed on Keuchel and Ryu, Bailey probably would have been the consolation prize. Knowing the Twins, he'll be pretty good next year somehow. However history tells us that he's pretty damn bad as a pitcher despite last year's decent season.
  11. I really don't see the Twins committing $100 million for a 34 year old 3B. They're cheaper than we are.
  12. Twins fans should be weary. They overachieved last year and their true talent is not 101 wins. FanGraphs' projections indicate that. That's where the author of that article has it so wrong. That and he assumed our bad players were replacement level somehow (they weren't). Right now the Twins are an 88 win team according to the FanGraphs Depth Charts. Like you said the Sox are 3 wins behind at 85. The Sox aren't done yet and we can easily close that gap further with some bullpen signings. Plus we have 3 big young pieces in Kopech, Robert, and Madrigal who can easily outproduce their projections. The Twins don't exactly have that. Our ceiling is sky high and the signings we made this off-season really solidify our floor.
  13. I also don't know where he got his numbers from. Who has Grandal as a 2.5 WAR player?
  14. There really is no reason to ever prefer McCann over Grandal defensively unless McCann is some god at calling games. Grandal's framing benefits everyone on the team.
  15. Ramirez struggled like hell for half of last year cause he stopped pulling the ball and tried to beat the shift. After he did away with that he hit like his usual self.
  16. Basically if he rakes and Vaughn isn't ready by 2021 we keep him for $12 million. Otherwise we dump him for nothing. That's such a team friendly deal.
  17. Launch angle baby. He had a god awful BABIP, but that'll happen when half of your hits in play are fly balls.
  18. If Robert signs an extension he'll be the OD center fielder and Leury can play 2B. Same goes if we sign a guy like Pillar.
  19. Gotta make this team as Ricky-proof as possible.
  20. This. If EE can preach launch angle to Mazara, he's going to be an absolute stud.
  21. I was one of the more vocal posters when it came to really wanting EE and it has everything to do with the shit we pulled with Thome back in 2010. We haven't had a stable/good situation at DH since (aside from that one year Dunn was adequate). Think about that. In the past decade we've had one year where our DH was league average. Every other year has been more or less embarrassing. If we were going to give out $140 million this off-season you better make damn sure we shore up the spot we've been so bad in for a whole decade. Good on the FO for realizing their past mistakes.
  22. It appears Hector and I have similar sources...
  23. Their projections also have him at at least 2 WAR per season for the next 3 years. If we can get 7 WAR out of him for $55 million, that's actually money well spent for Hahn.
  24. Tony did the ? a few minutes before it happened.
