I'd say they really needed an OFer, especially when Eloy got hurt in 2021. Because Vaughn was mostly terrible out there. What didn't make a whole lot of sense was that he got worse as time went on. He was actually better in his first season than his 2nd in the outfield.

He was helped out by the aluminum bats in college. He's got a bad case of warning track power once he turned pro. That's one of those things you can definitely work on as a pro by bulking up, which if the work ethics posts are any indication, he hasn't been working on.

He somehow less and less athletic every year as a guy in his early/mid 20s.

I doubt we'd get to load the bases off Richards if he didn't.
