QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Allen is not a premier talent at this point in his career. He'll be a nice role player no different than Horry. Allen was injured during the playoffs, he's an upgrade from what the Heat had, he's still one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. He's more than a role player IMO. He's gonna get a ton of open looks and he scares me way more than Chalmers, Battier or Miller.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) If they can add a really good SG in the next couple years then it can be done. IMO Well he better be a top notch SG because superteams are throwing 4 premier players at you...LBJ, Wade, Bosh and Allen. Durant, Westbrook, Harden and if he continues to improve Ibaka. Kobe, Howard, Gasol and Nash.
-
This superteams trend sucks for the NBA and their fans, pretty soon they'll be 4 or 5 really stacked teams and a bunch of overmatched teams. So much for parity.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:44 AM) saw that dwight is ready to commit to an extension with the lakers, so assuming he goes to la(would be awesome): lebron/wade/bosh or kobe/dwight/gasol/nash? gimme the Lakers

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) .... So the number of wins went like this. 54, then 44, then 32, and then 29. Yes, very strong core. Clearly on the upswing when Bird was brought in. Bird being drafted by Red Auerbach/Celtics not equal to LBJ being drafted by the Cavs' who knows what's his name GM and later Danny Ferry.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) I don't think it was that clear last year, especially in the finals. It's just worked out that way. And LBJ is supposed to be the best player on the planet. People expected his career to play out like Bird, Magic, and Jordan's. None of those guys went to different teams. Dwight's career is somewhat playing out like Shaq's, except he looks worse right now. Shaq, despite having 4 rings and being the most dominant force in the NBA is usually lower on All time lists because of playing on so many teams IMO. Unfortunatly for LBJ, he was drafted by a crap organization with no history of winning, Bird and Magic were fortunate enough to join franchises that teamed them up with HOFers. Jordan was also drafted by a team with no previous championship history but they drafted well and teamed MJ with great talent like Pippen and Grant, LBJ had Mo Williams as his second best player. Shaq not considered top 10 All Time based on him switching teams multiple times is silly, his peak was as dominant as any GOAT players' peak, including MJ.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) i would think that he wants to go somewhere where he's the biggest star and that wouldnt happen in la or chicago. clearly it isnt all about winning for him even though he says so and that's the biggest difference between LBJ and Howard. LBJ was willing to team up with top flight talent (even joining somone else' team), took less money and got hammered for supposedly wanting to defer to Wade even though it's clear the Heat are LBJ's team.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) He likes Jay-Z? Howard takes douche bag superstar to the next level. Yeah, Howard has proven to be 10 times the douche LBJ is. Could it be that he's intimidated in following Mikan, Wilt, KAJ, Shaq footsteps? There will be pressure in LA to win, not so much in Brooklynn I guess.
-
I keep seeing on ESPN thatt the Lakers and Magic are trying to make a deal and the only thing stopping it is Howard not wanting to sign an extension. That proves Howard is flaky and not serious about winning, isn't the Lakers the top organization for elite players to join if they want to be in a top contender? You know they will spend to get top talent and there really isn't a negative joining LA? Can someone explain why he wouldn't want to be a Laker??? Brooklyn Nets, really?? SMH...

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 08:31 AM) The Bears will finished in 3rd place in their division. I don't think they will make the playoffs as well Here are the teams that will Green Bay San Fran NYG Carolina Detroit Dallas sig bet I also think Alex Smith regresses, he's just not that good to improve from last year.

Don't know how credible this is but OKC is supposedly offering Harden/Ibaka for Howard. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Sources-H...44/-/index.html

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Like it or not, he's still a 26 year old 7 footer who can play solid defense, and there aren't a whole lot of those in the league. He's been in there 2 years, so he still might wlel have room for his offensive game to grow. I've basically given up on Asik improving his offensive game, he has shown no signs he has any kind of.touch in the mid range game, he ALWAYS bring the ball down low when he gets O rebs and gets stripped and has hands made of concrete, always fumbling crisp passes. He's not worth that contract, he'll always be a nice defender and rebounder and that's it.

I caught Albert Nobbs and The Ides of March on DVD last night, enjoyed both of them. Also a thumbs up to Balls of Fury, silly but really funny.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) That was also 20 years ago when 6'1" was normal for a PG. Oh stop it. The NBA hasn't changed that much sizewise. Rondo is 6'1 and Paul is 6'0 and they are pretty good PGs. The PG position is still a position where you can have small guys be effective. Most of them fall in the 6'0-6'4 range, being 6'1 shouldn't be a liability as long as you got handles and can see the floor, which shouldn't be a problem because PGs usually defend PGs.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Do you think that might have been the worst movie of all time? It was so bad it can't be described. Why do producers think a movie will work just because they try to get a good impersonation going? I still remember hearing the Betty giggle in that movie. I could puke. Big deal. One of the Baldwin brothers looked like Barney. Just put Dana Carvey on the screen and let him do impressions for two hours. You lost me, Greg, wasn't it Rick Moranis who played Barney?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) Caught up on a few rentals this weekend: Jeff, Who Lives at Home - Meh. Tried to be deep and interesting, ultimately fell flat. Characters were not interesting enough and the story was weak, especially Susan Sarandan's storyline. C- War Horse - Solid but not spectacular. I was weirded out too much with that kids' love of that horse. Still, well done all around and it kept me engaged to the end. B The Grey - Liam Neeson is the s***. Liked this one a lot. Not too keen on the ending, seemed a little abrupt, but overall the movie was great. I'd give it an A- Yeah, The Grey was f***ing awesome.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Yeah it cant be explained. They turned Mary Jane into plain Jane Dunst. Its the same with X-Men casting Rogue, who was supposed to be super hot (arguably hotter than Phoenix), yet she is played by Anna Pacquin, who is not nearly as attractive as Femke Janssen. The worst case was when they cast Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble in the Fred Flinstone movie back in the 90's. Totally ruined Betty for me (I had a crush on her as a little kid) and the producers should've gotten shot for that one.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) No interest. Lizard is lame and the new Peter Parker looks like a cocky douche rather than an awkward nerd. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Casa de mi Padre with Will Ferrell was just annoying after 20 minutes. I kept watching because I couldn't take my eyes off Genesis Rodriguez.

We might get lucky and Beverly becomes our John Starks Anyways, interesting read the last few pages, I agree with Rzzza that we shouldn't blow it up, make a few adjustments and get that second star for DRose. If the Bulls were relatively healthy, they could've competed against Miami, especially when Bosh went down.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) did that certain PG float around europe for the first three seasons of his career? There are exceptions, and there are rules. We weren't debating actual talent, you posted that being 6'1 was a detriment for a PG and I posted that 6'1 doesn't have to be. Stockton was 6'1 and was the great PG this side of Magic. Do I think Beverly can be Stockton? Of course not but being 6'1 shouldn't be the end all, hopefully this kid can contribute off the bench because obviously he's got handles judging by that video and we need more ball handlers.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) This is usually a byproduct of being 6'1" That never stopped a certain PG who played for the Jazz...
