QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) Operation 65% will merely do the same. It will be inclusive and give equal opportunity to everyone. We will make it in the 65% economic interest to vote GOP. Then you should run because Romney doesn't give a fakk about 47% of the country. Mr Genius 2016

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) It's very easy, just like how Democrats have percentages they want certain ethnic groups to vote for them. Are the Democrats anti-White racists? if they oppose our fair and just efforts to help poor working class white people, then we will just call the Democrats racist. 65% is within reach! The reason minorities vote Democrat is because they are seen as more inclusive and more helpful to the working class. Latinos are more culturally conservative (family oriented, church goers) but they vote for theireconomic interests, simple as that. The GOP could nominate Rubio next time but Latinos won't vote for him if his policies don't help working class citizens.

How the heck do you try to win 60-65% of the white vote without being divisive and or racist? I hope Mr Genius wasn't being serious with that post.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) are they voting for Romney? I have no idea, I don't work in a machine shop anymore.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:34 PM) oh boy do you have this wrong. Romney is out pandering to everyone but white people and is going to lose because of it. The GOP needs to go for 65% of the white vote. 60% will win it. That is where their focus needs to be. How would you go about it without being a racist? Tell white people to vote for you because Obama helps minorities too much? SMH

I've had some arguments with white working class dudes (I worked in a machine shop when I was younger) who complain about blacks and welfare, they always argued that the only people on welfare were blacks and other minorities...

One thing I'll add about the Southern Strategy, it worked for the GOP ever since LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act and boy did they hammer Democrats with it but now it isn't as effective as it was and with the changing demographics, the GOP are painting themselves into a corner. If the GOP doesn't modernize and they keep listening to the Teabaggers and the other wingnuts, they aren't going to win many Presidential elections in the future. The Democratic base is getting bigger, especially in the electoral rich states while the GOP's base is dying out. Hopefully with another defeat at the hands of a black man (the horror!), they'll realize they need to include more minorities and ditch the pandering to the intolerant racists homophobes. Probably take another asswhupping at the hands of Hillary in 2016 until they get the message...

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) Speaking of the Republicans not being able to pass s***, yesterday they killed a veterans' jobs bill (veterans have a higher unemployment rate than the average) that 4 Republicans actually wrote. Dems said "hey this is good s***! we'll all vote for it too!" Republicans filibustered their own f***ing bill (5 of them sensibly voted for it, to their credit, but couldn't break the filibuster). Including the 4 people who wrote it. Why did they do that, you ask? Well, the election is in 6 weeks, Obama would look pretty good. They made up some bulls*** reason as to why they couldn't pay for it and didn't want to add debt but this has never stopped them from any defense project, ever, and certainly didn't stop them from voting for the war they sent these veterans to. f*** them! lol@Republicans, they wouldn't vote for a Bill they wrote...pathetic.

I'm sorry but the people who are a drag and are holding back this country are the backward hillbilly racist homophobic inbred white trash piece of sh*t like that guy who hung that chair. Shame on the GOP for pandering to those idiots instead of ignoring them. No wonder blacks, latinos, women, gays and young people vote Democratic, there's no room for us in the party that caters to those kinds of people. If the GOP doesn't shift to the center and becomes more inclusive, they'll be the decided minority party, America is changing, deal with it.

Game Thread, No More "Silly Walks" Edition

Simply put, if you get manhandled by the worst team in your division, you don't deserve to win the division. -
George Hamilton, err I mean Mitt Romney looked darker in front of a Latino audience. Did this doofus get a fake tan to "appeal" to Latino voters? SMH http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/20/1...eak-to-Mexicans Latino is a culture, not a race. Mexican soap actress Silvia Navarro Mexican soccer player Giovanni Dos Santos Romney won't attract more Latino votes by getting darker...Mexicans and all Latinos come in all colors.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 09:47 AM) Electoral vote count, giving Romney all states where he leads, or trails Obama by less than 4 pts in RCP avg: Obama 278, Romney 260. Wow, even with that generous handicap, Romney still comes up short.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Wow, this entire time I've read that as METSoxFan. :/ Sorry about that. no problemo, I will admit that Obama has let me down a bit because I'm a liberal and he hasn't been very liberal at all (Gitmo, drone attacks etc.), but Romney really scares me because I fear the NeoCons will come back in full force under Romney and an Iran war would be imminent.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) Incorrect. There was a substantial additional tax credit included in the stimulus package known as "Making work Pay". That was then followed up a year later by a 1 year payroll tax cut. Those were done on top of the only extension done of the Bush Tax cuts so far, which happened in 2010 during the Lame Duck session, at which point they were extended for 2 years (hence, they expire at the end of 2012). I like Balta I'm far from a policy wonk so I'll cede the floor to someone more knowledgeable^^

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) Nope, he's not either. But that doesn't discount the fact that Obama is doing exactly what Metsoxfan is doing for him right now...blaming everything on Bush, nothing on Clinton, and nothing on himself, DESPITE the *FACT* that Obama has taken everything Bush did, and continued or extended it. I'm not a Mets fan, how dare you sir I gotta change my user name to MSF
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) That's a pretty simplistic view...and it's not based on reality, either. Every last thing you mentioned there, Obama took the ball and ran with it...but you conveniently ignore that, because otherwise you'd have no argument at all. And deregulation started under Clinton, not Bush, so that's dismissed. Let's see: All the wars you speak of were continued. The tax cuts you speak of...were extended...TWICE. Your entire argument is baseless. Try harder next time. The tax cuts Obama passed helped middle income families and he did end the Iraq war.

So Y2HH, what does Romney and the GOP offer that you think is a better alternative? I'd love to see what Romney's secret plan to improve the economy is if you know what it is. Romney certainly isn't running on his record as Governor, hardly ever mentions it all, wonder why...

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) with this voter they are! amen
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) Because they sure aren't running on their record... So let's go back to the party that actually got us in this mess to begin with...it took Bush and the GOP 8 years to skullf**k our economy with two wars, deregulation, massive deficit spending and tax cuts for the wealthy. You ain't gonna fix that in one term, I have no doubt we'll start seeing the economy grow stronger in the coming years if we stick with Obama and if the GOP act like adults and work with the President instead of c**kblocking his every move.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) I still don't think it matters come November. Peoples attention spans are far too short these days. Obama, Clinton and the rest of the Democratic party need to keep reminding voters right up until Election Day that Romney believes elderly people, college students, disabled vets and the working poor are a bunch of leeches...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) Mother Jones may be milking this for a while. More segments of video today, this time discussing Israel/Palestine, Iran, and Obama's personality: Romney is a foreign policy mental midget, he still thinks Russia is our biggest international threat, wtf is this? 1984? God help us if that moron wins...

QUOTE (Jbabs34 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) Ok, i'll bite at this... hawk is awful, plain and simple. i don't care that this is his sixth decade in professional baseball and that insert player's name is the best he's ever seen. last night he said salvador perez was the best young catcher to come into this league in a long time....pretty sure he said the same thing about carlos santana 2 years ago. he's making sox games unbearable to watch with his dumb catch phrases and repetitive stories about ted williams and yaz ...can't wait till this asshat retires. In your opinion...
