  1. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) ill take it Melissa, your avi is freaking me out Cristiano looks like he has man boobs there
  2. I hate the f***ing Twins.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) If they could have just got one in Detroit, it would be 3 1/2. I hope that sweep doesn't come back to haunt them, but back in the lead is sweet. It still gotta be a bit disheartening to Tiger fans to see their club behind the White Sox after the sweep in less than a week, lol. Up a 1 1/2 on Monday, down 1 1/2 on Friday.
  4. 1 1/2 games up on Detoilet
  5. Wow, reading some of these posts would make you think the Bulls had absolutely no shot at a title the last couple of years, yeesh.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 07:30 AM) I love this thread. This GO TRIBE!!!
  7. Gotta be impressed with the way these guys bounced back from that horrible series vs Detroit, yeah it's the Twins but a few SoxTalkers were saying we wouldn't sniff 1st again...a series later we're back in 1st b*tches!
  8. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Look for a guy wearing a gas mask and kevlar, dressed in all black. And aim for the head Again, it's a dark movie theater, (and with tear gas set off) how do you know he's not a SWAT member for example?
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) How could this have gotten any worse? Pretty easy, in a dark theater with all the confusion and chaos, if there are 5 or 6 people returning fire, more people would've gotten shot, cops don't know exactly how many gunmen are there, armed citizens could easily be mistaken as the criminals, they can get shot. It's not like Holmes had a sign on him saying "bad guy". And If you're in the theater and you have a gun and try to fight back and you see someone else with a gun, are you gonna ask him if he's a good guy or a bad guy, how would you know for sure he's not with the criminal? There were two gunmen at Columbine, it's not always one guy.
  10. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) What a terrible, terrible tragedy. Not trying to turn politically...but I'm sure the Gun Control crowd will run with this one. What's strange is I just watched Bowling for Columbine the other night for the first time...America's fascination with guns and their ready availability. As a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment and NRA...and a conceal carry person myself, I'm just curious to see the spike in CCW permits in Colorado now in the wake of this event. We as a country, have been programmed to live in fear and violence is second nature anymore. I'm just surprised there were no CCW carriers in the crowd. If it was AZ I'd venture to say he probably would have had at least 5-6 people returning fire... The sheer senselessness of things like this amaze me... and making an already terrible situation much much worse.
  11. The Tigers are hot right now, they'll cool off, just need to play good defense and pitch well but it should be an interesting race the rest of the way.
  12. The f*** is wrong with world...this just totally sucks
  13. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) Lee's much better than Kirk... with Lee gone now i want some "PEACHES!" I'm going to the country, going to eat a lot of peaches!
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) MJ was arrogant. Moreso, however, he was competitive and that's what drew people to him. They asked LeBron before the Finals, "what if you lose again?" LeBron's response was along the lines of, "as long as we gave it our all I'll be okay." This is a reasonable response since LeBron is a millionaire and basketball is just a game...but can you imagine Michael Jordan saying that? Michael Jordan refused to lose a f***ing practice! While he was a resilient character as you must be to stick around that long in the league, before the fact there was no acceptance of losing. This is the kind of killer instinct that some people see in Kobe...makes me think of the "passing the torch" stuff from Kobe to Derrick early this season. Kobe's response? "I'm not passing s***" As to this specific situation...when LeBron gets to his 3rd, 4th, 5th championship...he can start making some more outlandish claims about how many he'll win. People are imagining how a super team in LA could overthrow them this year or how a couple years down the line Wade will be too old or this or that scenario could stop them from winning....this is why 6 championships is amazing. People get old, get hurt, players rearrange, new talent arrives, all that and STILL you win? That's pretty f***in' cool. If the Heat can do all that, that will be pretty impressive. Until they've done something more than what a team like the 2011 Dallas Mavericks did, they should probably just focus on next season (a season in which they seem to be the favorite) Obviously I don't know LeBron personally but he doesn't strike me as obscenely driven like MJ or Kobe. I could see James winning 2 or 3 titles and that is spectacular but he ain't sniffing not 6, not 7, not 8... Too many factors like you said, LeBron would have to be driven like a madman to keep that edge you need to keep winning, you have to work on your game as you age and lose athleticism (why James doesn't have an insane post up game is beyond me). If he does have that killer mentality, he could very well go on a crazy championship run but even MJ took time off of the first threepeat because he felt drained. Luckily for us, Rose will be hitting his prime as LBJ will be in his decline.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Allen is not a premier talent at this point in his career. He'll be a nice role player no different than Horry. Allen was injured during the playoffs, he's an upgrade from what the Heat had, he's still one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. He's more than a role player IMO. He's gonna get a ton of open looks and he scares me way more than Chalmers, Battier or Miller.
  16. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) If they can add a really good SG in the next couple years then it can be done. IMO Well he better be a top notch SG because superteams are throwing 4 premier players at you...LBJ, Wade, Bosh and Allen. Durant, Westbrook, Harden and if he continues to improve Ibaka. Kobe, Howard, Gasol and Nash.
  17. This superteams trend sucks for the NBA and their fans, pretty soon they'll be 4 or 5 really stacked teams and a bunch of overmatched teams. So much for parity.
  18. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:44 AM) saw that dwight is ready to commit to an extension with the lakers, so assuming he goes to la(would be awesome): lebron/wade/bosh or kobe/dwight/gasol/nash? gimme the Lakers
  19. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) .... So the number of wins went like this. 54, then 44, then 32, and then 29. Yes, very strong core. Clearly on the upswing when Bird was brought in. Bird being drafted by Red Auerbach/Celtics not equal to LBJ being drafted by the Cavs' who knows what's his name GM and later Danny Ferry.
  20. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) I don't think it was that clear last year, especially in the finals. It's just worked out that way. And LBJ is supposed to be the best player on the planet. People expected his career to play out like Bird, Magic, and Jordan's. None of those guys went to different teams. Dwight's career is somewhat playing out like Shaq's, except he looks worse right now. Shaq, despite having 4 rings and being the most dominant force in the NBA is usually lower on All time lists because of playing on so many teams IMO. Unfortunatly for LBJ, he was drafted by a crap organization with no history of winning, Bird and Magic were fortunate enough to join franchises that teamed them up with HOFers. Jordan was also drafted by a team with no previous championship history but they drafted well and teamed MJ with great talent like Pippen and Grant, LBJ had Mo Williams as his second best player. Shaq not considered top 10 All Time based on him switching teams multiple times is silly, his peak was as dominant as any GOAT players' peak, including MJ.
  21. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) i would think that he wants to go somewhere where he's the biggest star and that wouldnt happen in la or chicago. clearly it isnt all about winning for him even though he says so and that's the biggest difference between LBJ and Howard. LBJ was willing to team up with top flight talent (even joining somone else' team), took less money and got hammered for supposedly wanting to defer to Wade even though it's clear the Heat are LBJ's team.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) He likes Jay-Z? Howard takes douche bag superstar to the next level. Yeah, Howard has proven to be 10 times the douche LBJ is. Could it be that he's intimidated in following Mikan, Wilt, KAJ, Shaq footsteps? There will be pressure in LA to win, not so much in Brooklynn I guess.
  23. I keep seeing on ESPN thatt the Lakers and Magic are trying to make a deal and the only thing stopping it is Howard not wanting to sign an extension. That proves Howard is flaky and not serious about winning, isn't the Lakers the top organization for elite players to join if they want to be in a top contender? You know they will spend to get top talent and there really isn't a negative joining LA? Can someone explain why he wouldn't want to be a Laker??? Brooklyn Nets, really?? SMH...
