  1. I would rather Rose comes back 100% healthy, the Bulls know how to play with him or without him, Rip needs to come back slowly and get a groove with his team mates. You guys might think I'm nuts but I think the Bulls can play with OKC sans Rose.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Now it's a far-reaching conspiracy on the part of the police, EMT's, witnesses, etc. I don't know about a cop cover up but it's looking like Zimmerman wasn't being totally truthful about what happened that night.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) I seriously wouldn't blame you. On second thought, I'll stay outta their way
  4. Am I the only one who thinks it's lame to be suspicious of young black males because they have a hoodie on? If that's the case, I'm going to be suspicious of middle aged white guys in track suits who look Italian...
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Let's keep in mind that almost nobody alive today has done that, certainly not anyone in our generation. We don't get free run to say or do whatever we want to the British because they ruled us over two centuries ago. Bad analogy, the British never repressed and held Americans as slaves because of their race. Are we going to pretend minorities aren't being attacked anymore? Hate crimes still exsist today, obviously not to the degree as back in the day but the statistics don't lie, a black kid caught with drugs serves a longer jail time than a white kid. The police still go around intimidating minorities, it happens, you think every minority that distrusts the police are criminals? I've never been arrested in my life and I'm wary of them, I don't hate them, there are good cops but there are also redneck racists cops that get heavy handed with minorities. Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock are guys who don't come off as thugs yet they talk about how they get scared when a cop pulls them over and how their white friends have totally different reaction.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) Good points, and I hope so as well. I just get tired of the double standards for racism in this country. About a week ago, a guy I know on Facebook mentioned a story about Rihanna posting a racist picture on her Twitter account. It was mocking Chris Brown's new girlfriend, who is Filipino or something, using rice cakes. There was almost no backlash. He said that if someone like Taylor Swift had done something similar, she'd be forced to make a public apology, dropped from her label, etc. And I couldn't help but agree. While I agree with this post, we have to keep in mind the history of racism in America, and it has been mostly done by whites against minorities, particularly blacks. Of course there has been racist crimes by minorities against white people but the great majority of lynchings, beatings, assualts and intimidation were white against minorities, that's why it strikes a nerve every time it looks like a hate crime was comitted by a whites vs minority. On a personal note, I have never suffered a physical attack because of my race but I have been verbally abused by whites (been called wetback, beaner, taco bell, Speedy Gonzalez etc). Even got harrassed by the police, living in the LA area, I once decided to shave my head because of the heat and I was being pulled over for no reason other than my appearance, even the cops asked to see my gang tats, never mind I've never had any (never been in a gang, shocking to some white folks) and I certainly didn't dress like a homie (actually I used to dress more like a metal fan). The mistrust of the police in minority areas is real and for good reason. I know a lot of white people like to complain about reverse racism but let's keep in mind minorities never instituted Jim Crow laws, didn't go around burning churches and didn't surpress white's civil liberties. One last thing, does anyone here remember the bruhaha Mexican televsion created a couple of years ago during the South African WC? Some idiot comedians during Televisa's soccer coverage would come out in black face complete with a spear and bone through the nostrils costume, it was really dumb of them and US blogs were crying racism and even though it was bad, Mexico has never had a history of persecuting black people for the sole reason that they are black (there are black Mexicans, particularly in the Vera Cruz area). It is different when a country like Mexico does it as opposed to the USA, it's still not right but it isn't the same. Back to the thread topic
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 05:17 PM) According to his manager, he's nowhere near broke. He's trying to get by on 30k a month. Well, if he really isn't broke, I'm glad for him...I like DRod
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 06:45 AM) There is a reason why leaving some level of situation to trained responders is the right thing to do in most circumstances though Tex, and it's well illustrated here. A properly trained responder is vastly more prepared to go into a situation, evaluate the situation, and be able to respond without making things worse. In a disturbingly large number of situations, an untrained person going into a situation with no equipment and no backup is very likely to make the situation worse. In this case, for example, we have a guy who didn't have any options other than lethal force if things turned bad. Wasn't in the physical shape to overpower a 17 year old, wasn't carrying anything that could be used non-lethally (baton or taser), had no communication to know if help was available, had no training for how to diffuse that situation, and had no ability to compel the kid to respond to instructions. He made the situation vastly worse for everyone by entering in to it, and once he entered in to it, unless the kid submitted completely, the only plausible endgame was deadly force. Balta owning this thread
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) The cops aren't magic and aren't always within a close proximity. So let's all go back to the Wild West days where everyone is packing heat and we can take care of our own problems. I'm not an anti-gun nut, I own one but I keep it in my home for protection, I just don't like the fact there are jerkoffs like Zim running around determining who is suspicious or not and taking a police officer's job into his hands, when there isn't an obvious crime happening (unless it's against the law to be young, black and wear a hoodie).
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) You've obviously read none of this thread. Not all of it but enough to see some really goofy posts, including some of yours. Let's blame the victim! Doesn't Martin have the right to SYG? Some creepy guy kept following him around while he was trying to get away...seems like he has a right to defend himself, too.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) So if I see someone lurking around a local playground, I shouldn't be allowed to follow him around to see what he's up to? I should run away to avoid any possible confrontation? Call the police because, you know, it's their job...why the f*** have cops if we are gonna do their jobs?
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) I'm glad you finally responded, because now I can make my point. Sorry, but that racial charge was me jumping to conclusions...and before I wrote what I wrote, I guessed you were Hispanic due to your avatar, which I assume is your daughters face. Point is, jumping to conclusions with little to no evidence, other than circumstantial (which is all you're going on), which is what most of you are doing, is bad...for the reason you helped me highlight. It's my son ...it's not a very complicated case, if Zimmerman stays in his car and waits for the police to handle the sitiuation, Msrtin would be alive today. Zimmerman acted like an overzealous idiot and is the reason a kid is dead. Simple.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) From my point of view...if he doesn't have the gun, he never starts this. The psychology on what having the ability to kill does to a person is pretty clear, they're consistently more aggressive toward conflict. Take the gun away, and he doesn't get out of his car pissed off at the fact that "These assholes always get away".
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) You should invent a jump to conclusions mat. It's obvious you want Zimmerman to be guilty, unfortunately, that's not how the law works. You also reek of racial bias, by the way. I'm hispanic just like Zimmerman so I don't see how I'm racially biased...I see this as a simple case of some nut who's biggest fantasy was to be a cop so he goes around pretending to be one, sees a "suspicious looking person" (young black kid in a hoodie) and started a confrontation against NW protocal. The kid ends up dead and this asshole can get off because of a stupid law. Not complicated at all.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Sure we do. Zimmerman followed him around the neighborhood and chased him on foot. He doesn't do that, no one is dead. Common sense...the dispatcher told him to not pursue and he ignored that order, Zimmerman obviously started the confrontation.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) So we can fight over more ambiguous language like "when it's safe to do so?" Let's apply that here. Zimmerman was just tailing the guy because he thought he looked suspicious. Nothing wrong with that. Next thing he knows, Martin's on top of him beating him up. He shot. Was it reasonably safe for him to leave (and when exactly would that duty start here?) Would the duty to retreat even apply? BLOW IT UP! GET RID OF IT! TERRIBLE LAW! Let's just ignore the fact Zimmerman got out of his car on his own, he wasn't pulled out or has he tried to claim that? Zimmerman initiated a confrontation and he got one, if you are being stalked by some nut who isn't a cop, you aren't going to defend yourself when cornered? The kid DID NOTHING WRONG but be a black kid with a hoodie. This case is a simple case of cold blooded murder complicated by a stupid vauge law.
  17. The way I look at it, if some wanna be cop jackass can stalk an unarmed kid, get in a fight and shoot him dead and turn around and cover himself with a law, then that is one flawed ass law. I don't know how he can claim self defense if he initiated the confrontation when the kid wasn't threatening no one or anyone's property...makes zero sense.
  18. The Worm is broke...and I'm not shocked. http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=9553
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) T-Wolves quickly becoming my 2nd favorite team. Perennial losers are hard to dislike...
  20. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) This thread got boring =( The Bulls keep winning, it gets boring really fast Yeah, ever since J4L left, nobody else writes debate inducing posts like he did...
  21. What a retarded law, this scumbag just might get away with murder. SMH
  22. Stick a fork in Jeff Foster, he's done... http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/pacers-jeff...nces-retirement The Pacers just got a little less thuggy.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) Well, he's better than Eddy Curry. And he's no Chris Kaman, looks we won't need to worry about that.
