  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) No, I defer to people who actually know what they're doing, like Ozzie. Seriously considering DeWayne Wise a leadoff hitter insinuates that Ozzie doesn't have a great idea of what he is doing.
  2. Because the 2 hole hitter gets a ton of fastballs, and that's all Alexei Ramirez can hit. Why do you think he's done so well there?
  3. Fields must have some trade value left, Kotsay was probably picked up so we can deal Josh and still have a backup 1B.
  4. White Sox, Red Sox Swap Anderson, Kotsay http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...ox_trade_f.html
  5. Best I could do with it, the finger is really discolored and obviously isn't getting much blood flow.
  6. He's a lefty who averages 91mph on the fastball, he's got good stuff.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) Wouldn't Mitchell at #1 be the best possible scenario? I think Mitchell would be a great #9 hitter, Danks seems to have more OBP potential to me.
  8. Yeesh, Haren would be amazing. Gotta figure he'd cost something along the lines of Poreda, Flowers, Hudson, Getz, Richard and probably more though.
  9. Verlander is a f*cking machine, too bad Leyland is going to blow out his arm by constantly pitching him into the 115-125 range.
  10. QUOTE (ObamaKnowsBest @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) He also has the most experience as a leadoff hitter. He's the grinder type that Ozzie likes to see at the top. He's got speed and if he makes contact he can make things happen. I'm glad Pods is getting a day off and think Wise deserves some playing time today as a thank you. He doesn't hit consistently, but I doubt the one extra at-bat he gets this game is going to be the reason the Sox win or lose this game Getz led off longer than D-Weezy.
  11. Hah. Wow, on mlb.tv, (I'm forced to watch the Tigers side of the broadcast) their scouting report of Verlander says "Spanked the Sox", I guess they forgot to mention his career stats against us.
  12. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) BTW steve, maybe because it is the first game of a double header? That would have a little to do with it. If I made the lineups I would definitely start Wise the next day after that catch. Same here, but I'd bat him 9th.
  13. That's actually a really solid idea, Zimmerman plays excellent D at 3rd and provides a solid bat that would do well in the Cell. I don't want to deal Flowers though, I'd offer a package built around Poreda, Getz and Clayton Richard. Three guys I just don't want to see traded are Tyler Flowers, Jordan Danks and Dan Hudson.
