Baltimore and Atlanta scouting the ChiSox last night?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Still looking for answer to question, what other team possesses what we have, not to mention Poreda as well? Second, Richard had numerous starts when he was 93-95 MPH this season, on various guns. Why WOULDN'T we be able to extrapolate that he could easily/comfortably throw 93-94-95-96 coming out of the bullpen? Did anyone predict Richard would be throwing 2-3 MPH harder than Poreda this season? I don't think so. Or that he could possibly be one of the two center pieces in a trade for Jake Peavy? Aaron Poreda's average fastball has been 92.5 mph, Clayton Richard's has been 91.6.

FS Interview With Dan Hudson
Seems like a nice guy, and knowing about his pitches is really nice too; thanks for setting this up, it's really cool to be able to know more about these guys as they start emerging.

Rosenthal says we could be interested in Rios.
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Jeremy Hermida is a guy I think we're going to have much more interest in than Rios. If we could get him for a guy like Dotel, I'd be all for it, but I wouldn't give up much for him. Hermida is simply dreadful in the outfield, and it'd require us sticking Prancer in CF. I don't like that idea.

Rosenthal says we could be interested in Rios.
I certainly don't think he's the guy from 06 and 07 when he OPS'd .865 and .852, but I don't think it's a stretch to say he could bounce back to the 08 version who OPS'd .798 and stole 32 bases. If the Jays ate contract, I'd go for him. Give Q the time to heal and lock down CF with an at least average player.

Rosenthal says we could be interested in Rios.
It's an interesting read, he goes on to say that Rios would play CF for us and that the Sox may not be scared of his salary with Dye, Thome and Contreras coming off the books. If the Jays ate about half of his contract and it didn't cost us too much, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Rios has been a solid hitter in the past, playing at a place like the Cell might help him out, he's still young and he'd solve that CF problem for us. The contract is ugly, but I think it'd be a solid idea to at least inquire about him.

Re-Shuffled Rotation
Glad to see Danks getting slotted as our #1.

Post your questions for Dan Hudson!
If you could compare yourself to any major league pitcher, who would it be? Do you think that you have the pitches to stay in a big league rotation, or is it more realistic to think of you as a bullpen asset down the line? In the heat of the game, do you look to get a big strikeout, or a lazy ball hit to a fielder?

Sox @ Brewers 1:05 CSN
That has got to be one of the most pathetic line-ups I've ever seen.

Aaron Poreda called up
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) Though Ryan Braun v. Aaron Poreda will have the Jewish world going crazy. Too bad, Youkilis could not show up for the event. I thought Youk was Greek?

What number will Slayer wear?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) 7 probably will be available. That's Jerry Owens Ghost's number.

Latest Starter Linked to Sox in a Roundabout Way: Roy Oswalt
We offered Richard and Poreda for 3 years of Peavy, no way they get traded for 3 months of Bedard.

Latest Starter Linked to Sox in a Roundabout Way: Roy Oswalt
Oswalt's stuff is still there, he's averaging 93.4 mph on his fastball this year, which is up from 92.6 last year (just for comparison, Peavy has averaged 91.9 this year). It's been speculated that he may want a change of scenery, I think Roy is a good possibility to come to the South Side.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) So, realistically what kind of window are we looking at here for Paevy to make a decision? I read somewhere that Kenny gave him until tomorrow afternoon.

5/4 CHW @ KC, 7:10 CT, CSN
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) If Colon plunks somebody in the first inning, here is what will happen. a.) the Royals will score about 6 runs after he gives them the gift runner. b.) Zack will retaliate and there will be an incredible brawl. A couple guys will get suspended. My guesses are the Royals' Billy Butler will be suspended a game as well as Olivo. On the Sox side, Fields will be suspended as well as AJP. I predict some punches will connect this time. Then it must be done in the second.

I couldn't make this up if I tried
I like how they list BA as a pitcher.

Without pitching, no playoffs
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Bartolo's 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA. I think the Sox have a decent chance whenever he's pitching. And if Thornton doesn't have a booboo, he's 3-1 with a nicer ERA. Fatty has been pretty damn solid so far.
-
5/4 CHW @ KC, 7:10 CT, CSN
7-4, Sox. Grienke throws 5 shutout innings, but his pitch count takes him out. Farnsworth gives us the game. Fatty is solid: 6 innings, 2 runs.

Scott Podsednik time?
QUOTE (Linnwood @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) What exactly happened to BA today? I see Cowley is saying it is a right oblique. Took a huge cut at a pitch, watched it foul, then grimaced and grabbed his hip.

Scott Podsednik time?
Thank Quentin.

4/28/09 Mariners @ White Sox - Game 1, WGN
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) Am I a retard or is it unpossible to have a .333 avg and a .316 OBP? Sacrifices don't affect average but they lower OBP.

4/23/09 SOX @ O's - 6:05pm CDT - CSN/CSN+
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) I can honestly say this is one of the worst games I've ever attended. I left during the 7th inning stretch. I attended opening day in 07. I feel your pain.

4/23/09 SOX @ O's - 6:05pm CDT - CSN/CSN+
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) s***, where is that ship going to go when Buehrle, Danks and Floyd have bad starts? Wait, Floyd already did and people on here were saying last year was a fluke. that's when we hear talk of our top 5 pick.

4/23/09 SOX @ O's - 6:05pm CDT - CSN/CSN+
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Is that because he doesnt have a 2-seamer? Because every pitcher has a bad game. Everyone was singing Colon's praise through his first 2 starts, one bad outing and off the ship you all go. Bad Contreras + Bad Colon = Sunk Ship.
