  1. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) So it looks like a Peavy to the Cubs deal will actually come to fruition. Damn. He's a Tommy John case waiting to happen.
  2. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....ams-shoots.html "Williams added that recently acquired catcher Tyler Flowers has the ability to hit on the major league level now. Flowers is likely to start the season at Double-A Birmingham." This intrigued me.
  3. Not to mention acquiring him would drain our suddenly respectable farm system.
  4. The Dodgers are way too uptight with both their prospects and salary to be dealt with. They seriously wouldn't trade for C.C. Sabathia because they wanted Cleveland to pick up his contract.
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) Did Penny have surgery or does he just need it. Isn't his shoulder shot? He had surgery after 07, not sure if he's having it again, his shoulder just had a messed up year.
  6. I really believe that Dye for Bailey trade will go down. Other than that, we might see another reliever or a cheap starter like Brad Penny.
  7. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) Rock, how is Getz on defense? How would you compare his D with that of Iguchi or TCM at 2B? Thanks. Getz is solid defensively.
  8. I like it, Bailey used to be the #1 pitching prospect in baseball, if the Reds are dumb enough to trade him for a rental, I'd jump all over it.
  9. Eh, Lillibridge has bounce back potential, he was pretty highly thought of before '08.
  10. "According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, Orlando Cabrera will decline Chicago's offer of arbitration. Ken Williams can rest easy. Cabrera's a Type A, so the Sox will score two draft picks if he signs elsewhere. There's an extra tax of one draft pick for the team that signs him." http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stov...bitration-offer
  11. Jerry Crasnik says Dye & his agent haven't heard anything. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=37...;type=blogEntry
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) doesnt have to do with this trade....but what the hell is so special about Parnell that the sox would want him, and that the mets wouldn't want to give him up?? 92-100 mph fastball and a wicked slider.
  13. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Worse than Fields? Makes Fields look above average.
  14. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) Anyone know how Encarnacion is defensively? Pretty bad I think, there was talk of him moving to LF.

  16. QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Isn't that guy done? I think his eye injury ended his playing days forever... You're thinking the guy from the Cardinals, this is a totally different player.
  17. So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard?
  18. A GM said that Bobby Abreu would be lucky to get a 9 million $ annual salary, If he'd sign for 2/18, I'd be fine sticking him in LF.
  19. I wonder if this means Brian Anderson is going to get to start? Having that glove in CF would be nice after Swisher&Griffey.
  20. If this is true, I dont think it's fair to judge this trade after we see what Kenny does with Jermaine's money.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) You must have not watched his performances for the Reds this past season. My brother also saw him in AAA a few times this season, and was shocked at how much velocity he's lost. I'll say it again, a scout that watched his AAA playoff start said he was throwing 93-96 into the 6th inning. If you can find the box score, you'll be able to watch the video.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Bailey's stuff has significantly deteriorated over the past few seasons. A scout that attended his AAA playoff start said he was throwing 93-96 into the 6th inning and had the best curve & slider he'd seen all year. His stuff deteriorated because he had a groin injury and a knee sprain.
  23. I love this, Dye would be gone in a year anyway, and you're giving Coop a guy with some of the best pure stuff in baseball. It's 1 year of Jermaine Dye for 6+ years of Homer Bailey, + 11million to be used on free agents/locking up Danks, Q, Alexei and Floyd.
  24. Unless those annual Konerko-for-Figgins rumors pan out and we move Fields to 1B.
