Bryce Harper will never sign with the White Sox. Also think it’s funny that a team who expressly said they would not negotiate win Boras in the past is being used as leverage in the Phillies negotiations... they’re not even in the dialogue.

Jerry Reinsdorf is a businessman who is only interested in making money, why is this not sledgehammer obvious to all of you at this point. Guy is from Brooklyn and only became familiar with the Sox after graduating from Northwestern and acting as Bill Veeck’s tax lawyer. Like the good fortune of drafting MJ, he was able to buy the Sox for $19mm and has a passing interest on whether they win or not, only the bottom line. Good for him, but not sure why Sox fans continually fool themselves into thinking he’s anything else than driven for profit. Again, 2005 was luck, nothing more.

You guys need to stop believing that JR is actually a Sox fan, he is a businessman and an owner for profit, nothing more. Runs it like a business, full stop, and does a good job of it. When he and KW lucked into a championship by catching lightning in a bottle with have beens / cast-offs like The Count, Sweaty Freddy, El Duque, JD, AJ, etc. on the cheap, it was good business and they were excited to take the trophy from Bud, but got lucky, nothing more, and will always be willing to suffer less, for more $$$

Also, just as a side, the ‘tax’ issue means nothing to athletes with an accountant. They are taxed on wages based on where they play games (from ST to road games), they don’t spend 51pc of their time in their ‘home’ state. Why Phil Mickelson lives in SD, but has his tax residence in TX, etc. As a side, don’t let politicians double your property taxes and convince you that you live in a low income tax state.
