2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
Mitch Jones, a 31-year-old Dodgers OF who was finally called up to the big leagues yesterday walks up to Mr. Jones by the Counting Crows. That’s just plain awesome.

Wise - "Keep Booing Me"
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) He is a miserable baseball player. Except for the massive track record that suggests that he isn't. Whatever you want to make impulsive, statistically illogical statements based on one year, go ahead.

Draft Signings
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Good write up on Holmberg. Looks like he will be a control lefty. Innings eater and good command. He may need to develop a good off speed pitch or breaking ball. Author really is impressed with his maturity and command of fastball (high 80's with potential to hit low 90's in 2-3 years). Good curve as well. http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/Articles/Dis...spx?article=704 Maybe a 4/5 starter for 2012? It’s very possible; he has the makeup of a kid who can move quickly through the system. Ultimately, I think Holmberg’s ceiling is that of a solid #3 starter.

Quentin "one bad step" from being lost for season
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) In Dye's earlier years, he battled a lot of injuries and teams eventually gave up on him, we came in, signed him cheap, and got one of the best FA signings in the past 10 years, I'd say. Dye has a decent track record of health before nearly destroying his leg as as A. When we picked him up for cheap, it was an investment, almost a Herm can fix-em type of deal.

LSU (Jared Mitchell) playing now on ESPN.
Jared was interviewed during the Ark-Vir game and he's actually pretty well-spoken. He's got a good sense of humour about himself too so it should be fun to follow his exploits as he moves through the system.

2009 College Baseball
Arkansas and Virginia are playing a great game. A lot of missed chances for both sides, but entertaining nonetheless. My main complaint is that these games take an insane amount of time to be played.

6/17 Games
Wow, Tyler Flowers was ridiculous tonight. It took Cole Armstrong 117 AB’s, but he finally hit his first home run of the year.

This was one of the best games Ozzie Guillen has ever managed. John Danks was outstanding, and mad props to BA for his play in the field .
