  1. Anyone listen to the Soxcast podcast? The guy who runs it George Heidkamp is stepping down, and taking submissions for replacements. So, if anyone’s interested in applying you can go to the inbox at Soxcast.com. I’ve only been listening to it for a couple months, and while it did offer some entertainment I thought it’d be better with a co-host so he could get a decent rapport going. Still I’ll miss it as it's the only decent Sox podcast going at the moment.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) 3 seasons Ah! My point stays the same. I do like Arrested Development though.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) HOORAY ANOTHER PERSON DISCOVERS THE BEST SHOW EVER!! I wish everyone would have tuned in when I told them to when I was trying to save it from getting canceled! Think you were dissapointed that the show was cancelled after two seasons? Try being a Firefly fan.
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) So I guess there was a little problem with the site there? Stop working right after my Lillbridge post. Guess i killed it
  5. There’s some good video of Lillibridge on MLB.com. He appears to be a good high ball hitter, ball seems to jump off his bat, and he hits the ball hard, definitely got the wheels too. Slight uppercut in his swing, but doesn’t appear to be a significant problem. I need to see more, but I’m encouraged
  6. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) My guess is when the eclipse is over they get their power back. Is there a show on television with any less suspense then Heroes? Are they physically incapable of killing any major characters off for good? At this point, I really wouldn’t mind if NBC purged the entire writing staff, and just replaced them with some of Whedon and JJ Abrams’ guys.
  7. Didn’t get many new albums this year, but I’ll give it a shot Best Albums 2008 6) Viva La Vida- Coldplay 5) Narrow Stairs- Death Cab For Cute 4) Way to Normal- Ben Folds 3) Way to Normal Fake Album- Ben Folds 2) Perfect Symmetry- Keane 1) Always a Bridesmaid- The Decemberists Haven’t listened to enough to rate: new Old 97’s, Plover
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) I must not have seen that one yet. You scared me there for a sec. It's understandable. I love the show too.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) Lighten up. I, too, agree that Flight of the Conchords is hilarious. I love their songs. "I'm the hiphiphoppatums, my rhymes are bottomless..." You do realize that my response was intended as humor, right? It was an exact quote from the song you just quoted.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) Read Will Leitch's book "God Save the Fan" he does a chapter on "experts" his relates to a fantasy football expert, but it gets the point across Read this book! It's great and actually makes you not feel alone if you don't buy into the mainstreet sports media and you will never be able to look at a woman in a leather jacket and not think of Chris Berman again You're with me Leather.
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) heh...the cards absolutely love rasmus...i seriously doubt we even have enough minor league pitching to get him, the cards want him playing everyday by the end of this year I'd do Jenks/Dye for Rasmus/Perez. The Cardinals, however, wouldn't. I wouldn't put much stock in the theory, though i love Stoney.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) I finally started watching Flight of the Conchords. What a brilliant show. Why? Why? Why exactly? Be more constructive with your feedback please.
  13. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) these guys (keith laws of the world) are phony snake oil salesman....like the expert analysts you see on CNBC. no way can one man be an expert on 1200 or so players and prospects. Law is a very bitter man who takes out his resentment of his old boss (J.P. Riccardi) on every GM, and every farm system in baseball.
  14. I’ve been impressed by what I’ve been hearing from this guy so far, and he seems to have a decent idea of what he’s doing. They’ve already assembled a good coaching staff down there, and are establishing a sabermetrics branch for their front office. It’ll be an interesting dichotomy for the next couple years between the stats teams in the AL West (A’s, Mariners), the in-betweens (Rangers), and the big market Angels who seem far less statically inclined.
  15. Projectable frame? Violent delivery? Hard fastball? Developing breaking pitch? Rodriquez sounds vagueley Marmolesque, which would be outstanding. Then again we do hear these buzzwords tossed around often.
  16. Mariotti is on Waddle and Silvy right now, if you guys want your fix.
  17. I’m noticing that some of the people who are vigorously against the Bailey Trade seem fond of getting Daniel “I’m older, have no control , and everyone whose tried to fix me has failed” Cabrera. I’m finding that slightly disconcerting.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) Tough to get 670 from central Iowa. Do you have I-tunes? Otherwise, just type in Sports talk radio into google, and you should get a decent stream.
  19. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) I'd prefer to deal Dye and Jenks separately. What I'd like is Dye + Lillibridge to the Reds for Bailey and Dickerson (I think someone mentioned this on here earlier today)and Jenks to the Mets straight up for F-Mart ( I think this would be the best case scenario for us, though I’m not sure we’d have to give up Lillibridge with Dye. Maybe a young arm like Wasserman.
  20. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) TRUE! Both poo and pee thank you very much. The person below me is old enough to know which Sox player pulled his pants down in the middle of a game. True, Steve Lyons. The person below me believes that MVP Baseball 2005 is the greatest baseball game ever made.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) 4 - Marquez 5 - Poreda It's quite obvious Richard is more suited for the pen as a long man because he falls apart in the 4th or 5th inning every start. If either guy falters, Jose will take their spot mid-season. Agreed, about Richard. I imagine Ozzie will want to keep with the right/lefty strategy so, Buehrle Floyd Danks Marquez Poreda
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Bobby Howry signs with the Giants, 1 year, $2.75 million. It was always fun last year watching Howry come into games and destroy any chance the Cubs had of winning. I’m going to miss him.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) From Robo-thal; If O-Cab were to pull a stunt like this he would never play a game In a Sox uniform. He might even stand the chance of being blacklisted by a couple teams who wouldn’t stand for something like this.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) It might be promising, but it won't come close to matching the production of the 05 Sox or even last years Sox rotation, imo. I would not be really comfortable with a raw and unproven Bailey as the 4th starter, especially since I'm expecting some set backs from Danks/Floyd. I think getting a veteran starter is a must at this point if you plan on competing because you can't expect to contend (key word being expect) when you have only one pitcher who has proven to be able to pitch consistently well at the big league level. Would you feel any more secure with: Indians: Lee, Carmona, Westbrook, Sowers, Reyes/Jackson, ETC Tigers Verlander, Miner, Bonderman, Galaragga, Willis/someone? Royals: Meche, Greinke, Bannister, Hochever, Davies/Duckworth, Everybody has as many question marks as we do. Every team has to rely on unproven talent at some point. Our biggest competition is the Twins, and they seem to be doing just fine with their collection of young arms. We can compete in this division with a young rotation. Hell, if Bailey and Poreda pan out We have the potential to dominate it. And if they don’t… we can always sign someone, we can trade for someone, we can bring up someone, or we can ride it out until Contreras gets that leg back under him. We have options. While I think we'll pursue a veteran starter to slot in this year, I don't find the prospect of having four of the (current) and former top pitching prospects in the game in our rotation particularly alarming.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) AJ's catch blocking might be weak but I've heard his cock-blocking stats are through the roof. You hear this from BA?
