I think they'll have a deal sometime between Memorial Day and June 1st. There's too much money at stake not to.

There's a strong rumor that Bailey has a deal with the Pirates at #7 already.

I went college lefty

I'm doing a mock draft for FutureSox and I'm gonna do all 5 rounds for Sox included in there. I won't give player names right now but I went like this: 1st Round: HS pitcher $4 million 2nd Round: College Pitcher $2 million 3rd Round: HS OF $1.2 million 4th Round College Infielder: $600K 5th Round College Pitcher: $350K

Any of them as long as 40% of slot value is offered.

Yeah they will have that right. They can sit out and not get paid if they want. They are entitled to that I'd think.

I haven't heard this specifically but I think the White Sox will try to prioritize Cespedes during this upcoming period. Then you worry about Colas later. Nobody else has money either and his Japanese club believes that they own his rights. If his situation isn't solved this summer, they could theoretically just sign Oscar Colas using 2021 signing money and push his signing to that period. There likely won't be any minor league baseball anyway so it's not a huge deal at this point.

I've had a tough time confirming anything during this pandemic. The White Sox have heavy rumored interest in Cespedes though. Today, Oscar Colas signed with Alex Cotto, the same agent that represents Norge Vera and Yoan Moncada. I'm not sure if it means anything but it's something to watch.

Maybe not that low but juniors will definitely get squeezed to take like $100K for sure. It's going to be ugly.

Most seniors will just take the $20K. Going back for a 5th year doesn't make a ton of sense. These college coaches have juniors that will stay and they have HS kids joining the team.

I think canceling the season is the worst case scenario. It'll have huge ramifications on the 2021 season and into the future.

I think they'd probably take Detmers or Meyer if they fell to them. I'd be pretty surprised if they took a college hitter though.

I think lots of juniors will sign for $20K. They could go back and still technically be juniors but they lose lots of leverage being 1 year older. It's a 20 round draft next year but they could fill the 20 rounds without those juniors so they're competing to get selected again next year. Some guys may decide to just take the $20K and get into an organization if presented with that opportunity.

There really isn't though. All three publications are guessing based on history of taking college guys.

Baseball salaries are guaranteed but only if they play games. If they don't play a game in 2020, they don't see another dime.

Swing Kings is a great book. I had no idea that Joe Borchard basically led Craig Wallenbrock to Paul Konerko.

I've been told that teams can pay for college, etc. The bonus is a flat $20K though.
