The White Sox aren't listed for any of these "top guys". Most of them are landing bonuses of upwards of $4 million. It'll be curious to see how Sox play this. They only have like $5 million to spend so they may just have multiple $1 million expenditures.
-
Hahn told us that they have commitments. I don't think this is an issue.

FS: A Top 30 Prospects Sub-plot: The outfield 5-pack
Y2Jimmy0 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good post. We discuss these topic at length when finalizing FutureSox lists. I put Adolfo first because he has the highest ceiling by far and I don't think it's close. I put Basabe next because of proximity to majors and he can play CF. I have Gonzalez 3rd. He's older than Rutherford but he can play CF and has shown more power. Rutherford holds steady at 4 for me but if you believe Walker can play CF then I would understand Rutherford being 5th. Those are the same things I look at. -
So basically someone guaranteed him $2 million if he waits until the next period. 29 teams don't have that amount of $$ left in current signing period. Baltimore has like $5 million. They can also get him to the majors quickly. I think he probably goes to the Orioles. People don't turn down money. That's what separates us from the animals.
-
It doesn't say that. It says Baltimore is the only team that can do that. That's not really true though either. Teams can still trade for available funds in this period.
-
He hasn't released those yet. He'll have it like this though likely: 1. Eloy Jimenez 2. Michael Kopech 3. Dylan Cease 4. Luis Robert 5. Dane Dunning 6. Nick Madrigal I would imagine he'll have Adolfo and Basabe next.
-
Nope. Patiently waiting. Badler usually has something in February. On our podcast though, Hahn made it seem like they'd have multiple additions. They should have roughly $5 million to spend.
-
21 year old Cuban SS Yolbert Sanchez is the latest defection that can sign as early as tomorrow. I think he will probably end up in Baltimore because they can pay him well over $5 million. The White Sox are mentioned as an interested team if he waits until July 2nd though. https://www.mlb.com/news/yolbert-sanchez-soon-eligible-to-sign/c-303499974?tid=282421090

Kopech will stay on these lists through next year. They include players until 50 IP in most cases. Kopech will be using up service time but he'll be a rookie for awards purposes in 2020.
-
He hits absolute bombs in batting practice. I feel like they believe it will translate. I have fears that the ballpark in Birmingham will do very bad things to him though.
-
He counted Kopech. He has Eloy at either 4 or 5. Cease and Kopech in the 20's and Robert at 50. He had Madrigal and Dunning around #110. He likes Basabe and Micker. He doesn't like anything else though apparently.
-
It's far too early to determine that the drafting has been atrocious. I wrote about this last week. Some of the drafts lack upside in nature but they will provide trade pieces and likely big leaguers. They leave something to be desired but it's still too early. A lot hinges on Zack Collins, Zack Burdi, Jake Burger, Gavin Sheets, Luis Gonzalez, Nick Madrigal, Steele Walker though for sure. Your part about growth is accurate though. I disagree quitea bit here. They need more depth for sure but they have two top of the rotation arms at the top of their system in Cease and Kopech. I think Dunning is a #3 starter barring health. Hansen is a complete wildcard. They have lots of back end types as well but I think Jimmy Lambert, Jonathan Stiever and Konnor Pilkington have much more upside than #5 starter. I think those two guys are pretty good.

FS: Sox draft philosophy on college vs prep and its impact
Y2Jimmy0 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
100%.I think Rutschman is a no brainer if he's available next this June and it's too early to predict for sure. If Witt and Adley are gone though, I want CJ Abrams. That's the type of guy that you need to add with top 5 picks. Reminds me of Royce Lewis. I'm pretty confident that Andrew Vaughn will hit and I wouldn't be surprised if he's ultimately the pick but I'd go Abrams. -
FS: Sox draft philosophy on college vs prep and its impact
Y2Jimmy0 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
We could do it. My article was about the draft as a premise. Robert, Adolfo and Sosa were all listed on top 30. Amado Nunez and Luis Mieses were on the Just MIssed. Hahn was funny about international market specifically over the weekend. A guy said that Sox have been lacking in that area in the past 20 years. Hahn countered and say that he believes they are right up there with the top of the industry over the last 5 years but said the fan was correct about the prior 15 years. The last two years is a big hit but at least they've spun the $$ into some guys that should help the big league club in some order. They have never had the big class that we've wanted but Paddy has identified Robert, Adolfo and Tatis. That's pretty good. They really need to hit in the next 5 years to keep the system pumping when they are competing on the major league side though. -

100%. They've hinted at the fact that some HS guys they liked weren't available but the results are the results. I think they wanted SS Chris Seise in round 2. They loved him predraft. Burger was fine because they picked 11th. I'm curious to know if they would have taken Adell if given the chance though. -

Full disclosure on this: I didn't want to hammer the organization and tried to make it apparent in the article but the philosophy the last few years leaves much to be desired. I think they've drafted lots of big leaguers but the upside is limited. I hated the Sheets and Burdi picks. It can still work out but some troubling trends. -
I was done last night FWIW. You are apparently continuing your crusade though.
-
This is still going? There were all sorts of rumors late last week about a Joc Pederson deal being done. I thought it would be announced at some point over this past weekend. Those reports were apparently not true or something happened causing a deal to not be announced. Lose the fake insider act though man. You make yourself sound very unintelligent and uninformed.

SoCalSox is Aaron Leming.

No.

So this thread really is something. I don't have sources but I do hear a lot of shit daily because I talk to people. I'd never share any of it here with strangers because it's not my info to tell and I definitely wouldn't share it under the current state of this message board. This place used to be great. It's really, really bad now. Dave, Brian, Shack, and Aaron are all good dudes and they get legit info. People share what they can share. I think everyone needs to relax and let everything play out. Calling out guys because they don't share info on your terms though? That's weak. Be better.

LOL this is bullshit

Sorry. My fault. I meant the time difference is 3 hours. He didn't like that he'd be done playing at 10:30 on the west coast and it was 1:30am eastern time. That's what I meant.
-
I'd have to look for it. He didn't like being in LA because his friends and family are in Miami and it's 3 hours away. Seems like a minor deal and something a shitload of $$ could fix. It could matter if deals are similar though.
-
7 years at $210 is bullshit. He's just quoting Levine and media reports. He has no idea what the offers are. I wouldn't necessarily bet $$ that he's coming to Chicago at this point but I'm fairly confident that he isn't going to the Padres. Machado has made it pretty clear that he's not a fan of the west coast.
