  1. They could keep Leury and expose Rondon to waivers in this scenario I suppose. Engel probably makes the team too. Engel isn't better than Brandon Guyer though so I can't justify putting him over Guyer.
  2. He's their #5 starter for sure. I'm not sure he's healthy to start the year though
  3. I will guess that the White Sox still end up trading for OF Joc Pederson This is wishful thinking because it doesn't include a really bad baseball player who seems like a roster lock for some reason. 1. Jon Jay CF 2. Yoan Moncada 3B 3. Jose Abreu 1B 4. Yonder Alonso DH 5. Joc Pederson RF 6. Daniel Palka LF 7. Welington Castillo C 8. Tim Anderson SS 9. Yolmer Sanchez 2B Bench C James McCann INF Jose Rondon OF Brandon Guyer 1. Carlos Rondon 2. Reynaldo Lopez 3. Lucas Giolito 4. Ivan Nova 5. Manny Banuelos Bullpen Alex Colome Kelvin Herrera Nate Jones Juan Minaya Ian Hamilton Dylan Covey Jace Fry Caleb Frare Ervin Santana starts on the DL. Eloy Jimenez joins the team on Friday April 26th.
  4. I usually go to at least 10 games a year. I won't be going in April at all unless my buddy puts me in a suite. I'll be at FutureSox Day on June 15th vs Yanks, I'll probably try and catch Cease's debut later this summer and take free tix when it's super convenient. That's it though. I'm not even going to Eloy's debut because it's an inconvenient date for me.
  5. You should get over this. The injury is unfortunate but he needed to pitch in the majors last year. Getting his innings count higher was an absolute necessity.
  6. Callahan will not get close to that amount of $$ with his injury history and medical red flags
  7. Yes I do. They have a ton of payroll space to use and they should be a destination.
  8. This is actually one reason why I'm led to believe that they are in fact in the discussion. If they weren't, they'd be used left and right.
  9. I agree with you/ A team like the Dodgers is screwed financially if they do a short-term deal. I think if he ends up in LA, the deal will be like 13-14 years with opt outs to lower the CBT amount.
  10. Bryce Harper isn't taking a short-term deal. You don't hire Scott Boras to do that. he'll get his $$.
  11. Bananas going home this early is really bad for tv. The seasons are much better when he's around until the end.
  12. Sox will need to buy some pitching at some point. They should keep drafting bats though.
  13. So this actually isn't true for Eloy. I was under this impression as well but I've since been corrected by people close to the team. This date changes due to Eloy being on the 40-man roster. He must spend 20 days in the minor leagues in order to use up a major league option. If he doesn't spend 20 days in the minors, he automatically accrues one year of service. This means he's eligible to join the White Sox around April 20th. The Sox are on an extended road trip at the time. I would expect Eloy to debut on Friday April 26th vs Detroit.
  14. CJ Abrams is my guy but it'd be tough for me to get upset about Vaughn despite the ceiling questions. He's going to mash. He looks like Josh Donaldson at the dish. I think Abrams might go #1 to Baltimore. He seems like a Mike Elias type of guy. He found Correa when he wasn't supposed to go that high.
  15. Dan McNeil said the other day that The Sox wouldn't let Hahn go on their show. In my piece, I didn't really criticize the beat writers. They aren't columnists. I think it's weak that they never questioned anyone on the mixed messaging with Hahn/Williams but whatever. One of them was lying, who was it? My issue was mostly with the NBCS Chicago crew. They've been leading the charge on Machado for two years and started dumping on him as soon as he took another offer. That's my biggest issue in all of this. They don't have to criticize the Sox but they shouldn't blatantly lie to try and placate fans either. Hahn and KW lie constantly. It's the media's job to sift through that shit. People don't like him but the world needs more Joe Cowley's for this reason
  16. Oh yeah of course. It wasn't about them asking tough questions. My biggest gripe was slandering Machado after wanting him.
  17. Wait, is this internet warriors thing about me? Where did I say that someone should be burning their employer?
  18. Good for Manny. He got his money. This is great for Padres fans. They have an exciting team and their ownership group stepped up. I love that Ron Fowler dragged the White Sox today. Keep it coming. JR has turned both of his teams into laughingstocks in their respective sports.
  19. Just a few things here: I wouldn't assume that Dave's tweets in the lead up to Soxfest were a reference to Manny Machado. None of the "insiders" actually thought that Machado was signing during Soxfest. Those were complete rando's that thought that. You also keep talking about their valuation. The Sox valued Manny Machado similarly or greater to how he was valued by the Yankees and Phillies as well. I don't agree with those valuations. I am stunned that Manny Machado didn't have 10/300 offers in November. This is why the pursuit took so long. The Padres entered the talks publicly on the Friday night of Soxfest. All indications are that the Sox had the highest offer at the time and that held true into January and likely February. The Padres got it done. The Sox failed. The White Sox didn't negotiate in a manner that an organization of their caliber should have if they really wanted the player. They opened themselves up to be outbid and that's ultimately what happened. I don't think it's about the White Sox valuation model though. It's a major league baseball issue if anything that the majority of these teams have basically the same pricepoint on many of these guys.
  20. You've been posting here a long time. As have I. The site used to be great. You're 100% correct on that. It's not anymore. I get told things all the time. I wouldn't bring them to the board though because the info is 2nd and 3rd hand and then I have strangers calling me out for lying when those things don't happen. My post wasn't in reference to you but if you took it that way, not much I can do about it at this point. So yes badger, back when I started posting here, it was the go to place. I would absolutely recommend sharing info. I wouldn't recommend the same any longer in its current iteration though.
  21. I'm not an insider. Never claimed to be.
  22. Why? He got 10 years and $300 million from San Diego. We were all incorrect about Manny's reluctance to play there. He obviously does. The agent wanted to say he signed the biggest FA deal ever and they did. We shouldn't assume anymore that Manny would have rather played in Chicago than San Diego. That doesn't appear to be true regardless of how bad the Sox fucked up the negotiation.
  23. From what I know the Sox were not told anything about a final SD offer. Sox made their updated offer Monday Night (which obviously wasn't close to good enough). They thought they were in a good spot. Lozano and Machado got the $300 million guarantee from San Diego and took the offer. At least that's how I thought it went down. The Sox misplayed the market. They got burned. But I don't believe there was some sort of back and forth where they were given the option to match an offer. They just lost out.
  24. 100%. They thought they were getting him. I'm obviously not privy to negotiations but they were pretty surprised. What they were told and what ended up transpiring were not the same. They still deserve to be crucified (the White Sox) but none of the "insiders" were throwing out nonsense.
  25. I will say this: Shack is getting his information from multiple solid places. You guys can believe whatever you want though obviously. The constant craving and whining for information throughout this process and then immediate reaction to tell people who actually have intel that they are full of shit is quite ridiculous. Shack shared with the board to keep people informed. I told him: fuck that board. The majority of the people posting there now don't deserve the information anyway. This place is tiresome. There are some things in this thread that could be debunked but I don't really have the patience for it. Everybody could be united in being extremely pissed ta this organization right now. Instead, some of us like to criticize others who have legit info and call them "insiders". It's pretty lame.
