No idea.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I talked to Shane last night. He told me that a really good source told him Machado to Sox is indeed happening. He couldn't get confirmation from anyone else. He wasn't trolling though.

Sox could still bring back Avi
I don't see the fit with Avisail Garcia regardless of what happens. There just aren't enough roster spots if Renteria insists on 13 pitchers. Even with Machado at 3B, that probably puts Palka in RF. Engel is in CF. They only have 3 bench spots and one of them is catcher. The other two spots need to be taken by guys that can cover CF and SS. If Yolmer, Palka, and McCann is the bench then their starting RF needs to be able to cover CF as well.

Pending White Sox Move? (*May contain partially digested news)
I bet it's a reliever that Chili is talking about. I doubt it's Ottavino because I've heard they'll only go 2 years. Herrera might be a good guess if someone already said that.

Nobody what the offer is, the White Sox still forfeit their 2nd rounder.

Take a guess --- Next years top 100
I wouldn't consider it an attack either. He was already on Fangraphs top 100 so I have no reason to believe he can't be again. That was my point.

Do some research before typing nonsense.

Discussion: Harsher luxury tax penalties
The penalties are harsh enough though. They are stopping the majority of big market teams from going over. Boston and Washington did it. That's it. The problem for free agents is that every team received $50 million from MLBAM this year and the small market teams still aren't spending $$. The large market teams (owners, investors) don't like putting money right into the pockets of their small market competitors. I think Yanks, Red Sox, Cubs etc should spend up to that $246 million line but I completely understand not wanting to go over it.

Take a guess --- Next years top 100
I would say Eloy, Kopech and Cease in every top 20 to start the year. Robert and Madrigal in the 30-60 range for almost every publication. Adolfo and Dunning in the 50-100 range in multiple publications as well. Those are their top 7 prospects in some order. We could see Collins (Fangraphs), Rutherford (MLBPipeline) or Basabe possibly slide in as well.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
They don't have any top end prospects.

Nobody that trades for Heyward is getting a good deal.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Manny Machado and Dan Lozano aren't going to deny something that Dan Clark said. It's Dan Fucking Clark. That dude tweets "rumors" all the time and then deletes the tweets when they don't happen. Machado might go to New York ultimately but he's guessing.

Dodgers & Reds trade (Kemp, Puig, & Wood to CIN, Bailey, Josiah Gray & Jeter Downs to LA)
Reds will owe Kemp approximately $20 million and roughly $20 million for Wood/Puig combined. They dumped Homer Bailey's $23 million for this year and the Dodgers sent $7 million in the trade. It's basically a wash money wise for Cincinnati and Puig/Wood still have value. They had to give up prospects to obtain Wood/Puig combo. The deal doesn't make sense when looking at the fact that all 3 players with only be in Cincinnati for one season. They could flip all 3 at the deadline for more though possibly.

2019 MLB draft thread
I would rather have CJ Abrams than Witt personally. Abrams reminds me of Lindor

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Getting one of these guys will have no bearing on the draft. I expect the best position player on the board.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Probably. And when they do I'll take their pursuit for seriously.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
I understand that. It doesn't help the player though on the backend. If Harper sucks for whatever reason, he's taking like $25-$30 million in the back half of the deal if he opts into it.

Dodgers maybe. The Cubs have real issues though. If the Dodgers do it though, they are likely going over the tax which is something they told their shareholders they wouldn't be doing. Should be interesting.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
From who though? That still hurts the luxury tax teams in the sense that they count the AAV. I supposed he could take something like $40, $40, $40, $40 from Dodgers in the first 4 years. That guarantees him $160 million. They'd have to backload the back to get in line with a more respectable AAV though and I'm not sure that makes a ton of sense for the player.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
This is probably true but if the Sox are offering the $$ that I've heard they're offering and he doesn't want to play in Philly, then they are accepting less from someone else. That isn't something Boras typically does.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
I disagree with you because I know how much money they are offering. The Sox aren't being cheap. They are offering both players top of the market contracts. Will they land either one? I have no idea

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
I think you're just extremely cynical, yes.

When are those quotes from though? My guess is they were from before the free agency tour

2019 MLB draft thread
Mike Elias is the new GM in Baltimore. He led the charge on drafting Carlos Correa when the industry wasn't really on him at #1. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go with Abrams or a different HS player here. That could leave Sox picking between Rutschman and Witt.

Update: Machado met with Sox
What funeral?
