  1. Many on twitter yesterday saw his comments and were like "I guess that means no Macahdo/Harper". If you actually ingest what was said, I think it meant the opposite.
  2. Great post. FWIW, people in ticketing and marketing department expect a big run at Manny Machado from what some of them have been told.
  3. I'm worried about the Sox. I'm focused on San Diego, Detroit and Miami. I couldn't give any less of a fuck about what the result of the Cubs' weekend is.
  4. So you want the Sox to get the 6th pick in the draft so the Cubs have to play the wildcard game? I'm confused.
  5. If the Sox lose all 4 to Minnesota, they'll have the 3rd pick. If they go 1-3, they guarantee themselves the 4th pick. 2-2 probably puts them at #5 though.
  6. I didn't mean to quote flavum. I messed up. I was referring to Zisk's post.
  7. This mentality makes no sense to me. Why do you care about beating the Cubs? They aren't rivals and they're definitely going to the playoffs. Losing to the Cubs is the best thing for the long-term future of the Sox. It's mind boggling that I continue to see this sentiment.
  8. On the pitching side: Konnor Pilkington, Davis Martin and Jonathan Stiever. In the infield: Bryce Bush, Lenyn Sosa, Corey Zangari, and Amado Nunez. Steele Walker might be in the outfield to open the season.
  9. I think signing Josh Donaldson makes more sense than paying a high end reliever. The White Sox don't need to do that. They've built a pretty quality bullpen with drafts and trades. I'd roll with the young guys that they have. They can sign a veteran for down there but they don't need to spend $70-$80 million on a Kimbrel type. I also don't see them paying a high end starting pitcher. Dallas Keuchel and Patrick Corbin will cost $100 million. While I believe that the White Sox will spend more $$ in future years than we've ever seen spent, I doubt it will be spent on $100 million pitchers that don't slot in at the top of a rotation. I could see some stop gap starting pitching additions or maybe guys like Pomeranz or Eovaldi. I'm very curious to see their overall free agent approach. I think they make a run at the biggest fish. If they miss out though, I'm not sure they just start throwing money to fill gaps. They don't have the pitching to compete next year. They obviously should be better though.
  10. This is pretty cool. The Great Falls team has actual legit prospects on it. Many times in Advanced Rookie Leagues it's littered with tons of college filler and organizational types. The Voyagers have like 5 possible top 30 guys (Sosa, Bush, Nunez, Stiever, Pilkington) and some others that are advanced like Romy Gonzalez, Logan Sowers and Davis Martin. That team in Kannapolis is going to be really fun next year.
  11. Keith Law is usually a stickler for guys similar to Cease and Law has him as a top 40 prospect in baseball and definite front of the rotation type.
  12. I don't have them as a playoff team. Wing defense is incredibly important and they might have the worst perimeter defense in the entire league. They should win between 25-35 though I think.
  13. Why would they do that though? It'd be the same thing as calling him up this season.
  14. Completely agree. I doubt very much that we see Eloy Jimenez this season. Kopech was a different story. He'd spent longer in AAA and in order for them to get him up to 160-165 innings, he needs to pitch in the majors. Those minor league innings aren't available
  15. John Sickels is out of touch and hasn't seen prospects in person in years.

They are "pushing it" because he's not injured. Struggling with command and control. He'll be in instructs most likely trying to get it ironed out. He's not though. He has a 20% walk rate in AA with a 134 wRC+. That's going down obviously but he makes fewer outs than many of the guys on that team. I know that you used the comparison because they both look at strikes but at least he walks a shitload. If people don't like Moncada's approach, they are going to hate Zack Collins
  17. Still not the point. I highly doubt they'd dump Cordell and Rondon BTW. They need to add 9 players for the Rule-5. This shouldn't be a problem. It doesn't mean that it makes sense to use a spot on a guy like Ian Hamilton though who doesn't need to be added in a losing season anyway. That's always been my point.
  18. None of us would care, no. It's a realistic issue though. It's not a video game. They aren't just going to discard guys for no reason. There's no reason to add anyone that doesn't need to be added.
  19. Jesus this site sucks now.
  20. It's obviously not a first rounder but Bryce Bush looks pretty good so far. Michael Kopech and Dylan Cease were both HS picks that the organization acquired and their methods have helped them improve and ascend as prospects. The Sox need to not draft bad high schoolers and force them through the system at an unfairly rapid pace. They 100% should and will start taking more prep players. I had some reservations about the Madrigal pick myself but judging players (especially college ones) on anything they do in their draft year is generally a fool's errand.
