  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) What position does he play? H-Back/TE? Probably. Loggains does incorporate a FB into his offense more than Gase does too.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) If Phil is reporting it, we might as well close this thread. The last time Rogers was right about something, the Sox got Kevin Youkilis
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) That is great, but the Bears will use the franchise tag so that means worse case, Jeffrey has 2 more years until Lions can get him (or best case depending on whose shoes you are in). Reality with the franchise tag in play, Jeffrey isn't going anywhere (unless someone wants to make a significant trade offer). Sucks Megatron is retiring (from a selfish perspective that he was so fun to watch, that said, he's accomplished a ton and he's gotten beat up the past few years, so if he's ready, I wish him the best and I'll be glad not to see him go up against our non-peanut db's). In his prime, he was the most impressive wideout I ever saw. I think Moss was better.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) http://espn.go.com/blog/detroit-lions/post...f-lions-targets So they'd be interested in a guy that won't hit the market if he hits the market? Fantastic. Jeffery is getting the franchise tag.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 07:16 AM) Detroit going to try and sign Alshon away? Jeffery won't be a free agent
  6. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 08:14 AM) Blame the bad fans for not supporting a competitive team. Did they do that recently?
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) Saw this rumored a few weeks ago. Not sure if this applies to him but this CTE stuff will definitely make guys think about extending their careers longer than they have to. He has knee problems.
  8. If they are .500 I think they will add and try to go to the playoffs. And then try again next year. They won't even consider selling off anything until middle of 2017 in my opinion. Why would they? This team should be in contention and can always add in season.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) Expiring contracts aren't really that valuable anymore given the huge jump in the cap that's coming. Plus there's no shot the Bulls blow this up when there's a small chance of beating the Cavs and getting to the Finals. Was there a bus accident I haven't heard about? The Bulls have no shot at beating the Cavs. I can already see the Bulls offseason now: 2 year deal for Gasol at big $$ and a max deal for Harrison Barnes. Championship.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) It's not great that Bernie is an atheist but clearly everybody has the right to not be a believer. I'm not so sure Hillary is much of a believer. I think I read somebody speculating she isn't into religion either. My bad if that's wrong. We have some weird candidates this time around. We have Cruz who seems like the male Hillary personality wise, kind of a jerk. We have Bernie who is an alleged socialist and I guess a non believer. We have Trump who is a selfish businessman And we have Hillary who feels she's entitled to be president for some weird reason. Is Jeb Bush so bad after all? Just asking. I'm sure we've had many atheist presidents already.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) I don't think LA has a concept of odd man out. I think they'll just hoard everyone. They only have so many roster spots though. Starting INF of Turner, Seager, Kendrick, and Gonzalez. Ellis, Barnes, and Grandal at C. These are their OFs: Crawford, Ethier, Puig, Van Slyke, Pederson, Trayce, Guerrero, and Enrique Hernandez. I'd try to get Van Slyke.
  12. http://americablog.com/2016/01/bernie-sand...ng-atheism.html Uh oh, Greg....
  13. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) I think they will still keep k***' just because he's so cheap and so valuable as a utility guy. Gerrero and Van Slyke are the guys I can't see a spot for. I would take either 1, but isn't Guerrero automatically a FA if traded or something like that? Van Slyke makes a lot of sense for both sides in my opinion. Can't what they would want for him, but doubt it would be much. Van Slyke has a career 142 wRC+ vs LHP
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) This crap has to change. Older guys that break into the bigs late get absolutely screwed. Any guy who's not elite gets screwed. It's not always about the money. FA is supposed to be this great "you earned it" moment, and guys cant even pick where they want to go because the amount of offers shrinks down to almost nothing in some cases. They could accept the QO?
  15. Brian's source has been rock solid all offseason and he told us that the 3 year thing was and is nonsense. Hahn confirmed that tonight. Are people really this dense or do some of you just not read before posting?
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) It goes beyond that. Like Hatchetman said, last year Sale had a start in which he gave up 7 runs and got a quality start. Why? Because 6 of them were unearned. Would anybody in their right mind say that Chris Sale had a good start that game? How did the guys reach base? I mean that is what fWAR is based on. That's why he's a 6 fWAR player. It focuses on FIP and Strikeouts.
  17. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) My whole thing is why couldn't they have got Dickerson for Petricka & a lower level guy or two? Would be frustrating if this is the move they made. White Sox don't really have a guy comparable to McGee unless they moved Nate Jones.
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Getting off turf may help Jennings out but I would guess any trade involving Jennings would also include a SP. One of Ordorizzi, Cobb or one of the lefties. Most likely Cobb or Ordorizzi though. Why?
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) nice info..... but bringing up stats that is based on last yr team is not the right way of looking or comparing. those stats, is to improve a team, when a team is starting off the season, it is something to look for as an improvement factor. when all things being equal, will those additions help???? yes, with all new outlook.... i can say i can be somewhat excited, but damn, i want the sox to finish what they started. to hell with 2017 when some salary relief can help, it is the now, that the fans want. we have had all the "next yr" bs. What?
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) Do you honestly believe that any of the guys you listed can fill in if one of the better starters (Sale, Q, or Rodon) gets hurt? Fulmer is the only one out of that list that has any potential and he likely won't be called up until September or 2017. They're screwed if any of those guys get hurt. They can't worry about that though.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) I've spoke on him with someone in ops. They see something in him and think they could keep him healthy. He was a big time prospect and he's still only 24 years old.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) In 2016, I'd much rather have Danks than Buehrle. Haha I agree
  23. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) My issue with this off-season is they got Lawire who would play third, then they got Frazier who moves Lawrie to second. If the plan was to upgrade third and second without addressing RF, the offseason is a failure. The defense was atrocious last year. Frazier is up grade, Lawrie is a downgrade and the worst defender is still in RF. Lawire move kind of gets me as those players traded could have been used to upgrade RF. Sanchez and a new RF is an upgrade over Lawrie and Garcia. I disagree that Lawrie isn't an upgrade. They wanted to fix the offense. He's a worse defender than Sanchez but he's a better offensive player.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) http://m.mlb.com/news/article/163105904/co...es-rays-options Just curious how people feel about the idea since it was mentioned in an MLB.com article and by someone not named Levine. Not particularly fond of the idea due to Desmond's injuries and his offensive numbers leave something to be desired. That said, there's no doubt he would upgrade the defense and his offense seems to be somewhat on par with Austin Jackson, whom I am open to, so to be fair, I should be open to the idea of Jennings. Jennings last year of arbitration is 2017 so he comes with two seasons worth of team control. Anyone open to the idea? Suggestions as to which inexpensive Sox reliever the Rays could be interested in? Maybe a Jennings for Jennings swap? It's Phil Rogers though. I'd almost rather it be from Levine.
  25. Desmond Jennings for Petricka would be an excellent move for White Sox. Could Jennings push Eaton to a corner and play CF?
