  1. Chavis is super overrated IMO. I’ve been a big fan of Groome and would love to get him somehow, but he has to come at a discount because of his injury.
  2. Adams right now is like 7th on the depth chart and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get passed by Dunning early next season. I don’t see him getting an extended look with the Sox unless we suffer several significant injuries.
  3. His BABIP has dropped 90 points vs. last year. I actually think he’s been a bit unlucky, but a good portion of that is regression and some probably related to him hitting less ground balls. On the plus side, his ISO has jumped up 90 points as he’s hit a ton more fly-balls and has improved his hard contact rate. This is the Avi we always wanted to see with the exception of the non-existing walk rate. Niw we just need to see him maintain this power surge over the second half of the season. If that happens, then I’m all for discussing an extension.
  4. I think zero is chance they make no July deals. Guys like Avalin & Cedeno lose value come August as they could be claimed by anyone. Shields would likely clear waivers and maybe Soria makes it to a contender, but again it limits your negotiating power.
  5. It’s definitely worth a shot. Starting just wasn’t in the cards for him unfortunately.
  6. 100% agree. I know full well that nearly all of these guys will amount to nothing long-term, but you’re not maximizing your chances of hitting on one or two of them if they’re only playing twice a week.
  7. It’s worse than that IMO, the AZL Sox are like two deep at every position and that’s after Madrigal & Walker got promoted. Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I’ve always felt it was tough for guys to get in a rhythm if they don’t play most days and that ultimately can impact their development.
  8. I was at work and someone mentioned to our group Mark was perfect through so many innings. We all ran over to the nearest bar (Jefferson Tap) and caught the last couple innings including The Catch. Will always be grateful I saw the end of that game.
  9. Cordell did have a 41.5% BB rate in AAA pre-injury. I’m guessing they simply want him to regain some confidence in his approach before moving him back to AAA. Hopefully that only takes a few weeks.
  10. Those rookie ball teams are way too crowded. Just feels like guys aren’t getting enough playing time. Really wish we had a third short-season ball team.
  11. He was just getting “checked out” and has magically been cleared for baseball activities at 10pm PST. Definitely seems a bit fishy to me.
  12. While probably nothing, if any team makes sense to acquire Avi it’s the Phillies. It’s almost a perfect match to be honest. I’m not sure if they’d be willing to give up the necessary prospect currency to land him though. Having said that, we could make things really interesting for them by adding some pitching depth into the mix. They could use a starter like Shields and another reliever. Is Avi, Shields, & Soria enough to pry Medina & a lottery ticket? The answer is probably no, but if they believe the recent Avi is legit then that could be a huge deal for them down the stretch.
  13. That would be nice, although I’m guessing your CF or RF is moved before the LF is called up.
  14. Now would be a nice time for a sac fly.
  15. His curve had a future grade of like 70 a year or two ago. He’s flashed that pitch occasionally and I’m not sure I’d give it up this early into his career.
  16. Engel has a wRC+ of like 55 now. And yet they continue to trot him out there quite a bit. I really don’t get it.
  17. Anderson hadn’t taken a BB in his last 20 games and only one in his last 29. I’m not sure what our hitting coach is actually doing with these guys.
  18. Hope scouts are seeing Leury is capable of being a dangerous bench guy in the playoffs and a decent fill-in in the event of injury.
  19. I mean, Trout, Upton, & Ohtani are pretty good hitters. The fact is he’s improving and that’s all that matters.
  20. The Anderson boo birds will certainly be out & about tomorrow in full flock if we end up losing by one.
  21. Three more walks and another wild pitch in the fourth. Not sure why he’s still out there, although somehow he escaped all that without giving up a run.
