HOU interested in Abreu/Britton
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you believe he can be a 140 wRC+ hitter as your DH that’s a pretty sizable upgrade and one that can probably be had on the cheap. -
HOU interested in Abreu/Britton

Not possible, Balta said Abreu is donezo and teams can just claim him on waivers in August ? -
The peripherals have been pretty good though dating to last year. I really don’t think a 45 FV prospect is unreasonable for Soria. It seems like the market is actually positioned pretty well for sellers as almost all buyers need relief help.

Delmonico back on the active roster
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m hopeful Nicky can flash a bit more power down the stretch. Even if he can’t be regular, his left-handed bat could be very useful off the bench or as part of a DH platoon. -
State of the (Injury-ravaged) Sox Farm System
Chicago White Sox replied to bmags's topic in FutureSox Board
Anyone know if Burdi, Puckett, Davis, or Diaz are expected to come back this season? -
The problem with the Mariners is they have a terrible farm system, perhaps the worst in all of baseball. Not a lot to like there. Kyle Lewis is probably their best chip and his stock has really fallen due to injuries and poor performance. I’m gusssing the Mariners wouldn’t trade him at his low point. They also have Evan White (who I liked during last year’s draft) but he seems a bit redundant with Gavin Sheets. Just not much after that. Julio Rodriguez would at least provide some upside. I’d rather gamble on ceiling at this point in the rebuild than settle on floor.

I don’t think we move Jose, simply because I don’t believe the offers will be good enough. The proposed deal above is just what it would take for me to even consider moving him. Regarding the Yankees, I really don’t think Bird prevents them from adding a 1B. I actually think the luxury tax would be the big issue preventing an Abreu addition.
-
While this may be true in this particular case, the problem is you continue use a recent pro-longed slump to project future performance. Brian Cashman isn’t going to pass on an obvious upgrade in Jose over an ordinary / injury riddled Greg Bird (luxury tax considerations aide) if he believes the past month & half have simply been a rough stretch for him. He only cares about future performance. I know you truly believe he’s suddenly aged 5 years and can no longer hit a fastball, but I’d wager most front offices look at him as a great buy low candidate. That doesn’t mean other front offices won’t discount his value because of his slump (they will), but it also doesn’t mean he’s now comparable to Greg Bird and a bunch of mediocre players.

It’s common sense, but I just feel like they won’t do it. I really think Kopech will be up in a few weeks if he has a couple more dominant starts.
-
It would be fitting!

Awesome news right there! Thanks Rob!

Has Welker’s stock jumped up that much this year? I know he’s hitting well, but he still has questions of whether he will stick at 3B. Jones is a tough one, because while he’s coming off an injury and hasn’t been great frankly, he also has premium stuff & is controllable / dirt cheap.

Alright, I’m throwing some crazy ideas out there. By no means do I think any of these will happen though. Yolmer Sanchez & Xavier Cedeno to Red Sox for Jay Groome & Josh Ockimey Jose Abreu to Yankees for Albert Abreu & Luis Medina Joakim Soria & Luis Avalin to the Braves for William Contreras & Kyler Muller James Shields to the Mariners for Julio Rodriguez Nate Jones to Rockies for Colten Welker

I'd recommend reading his post history, it's literally doom & gloom all the time.

Because those two kids being awesome right out of the gate does NOT mean Moncada hasn't been good so far or won't be a great player with time.

Assuming we move Soria in a one-for-one trade, here’s who I’d target from each contender: Astros - Perez, RHP (AA) Mariners - Rodriguez, OF (DSL) Red Sox - Houck, RHP (A+) Yankees - Sauer, RHP (A-) Dodgers - Sheffield, RHP (A+) Rockies - Vilade, 3B (A) Diamondbacks - Varsho, C (A+) Braves - Contreras, C (A) Phillies - Romero, LHP (AA) Nationals - Antuna, SS/3B (A) Cubs - Albertos, RHP (A) Brewers - Feliciano, C (A+)

Just seems like the smart thing to do would be to wait until mid May of next year, but I just don’t see that happening. Another start or two like this and he’ll likely call him up.
-
What other interesting prospects do they have? Chavis really doesn’t do anything for me. Maybe roll the dice on Tanner Houck? Their farm system is pretty garbage TBH.

Machado deal structure "in place"
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
None of this matters, because he’ll get an opt-out after a couple years. As long as the short-term money is the same and the long-term money isn’t ridiculously different, he’ll probably go to a contender. -
Barons announcer just dropped this bomb: the only player in professional baseball with more walks than Zack Collins is Mike Trout ?
-
I’m going to be so pissed if Lambert is seriously hurt.
-
Ok thanks, that’s what I’ve seen. JFC Thompson. What a fucking bum.

I watched a few innings, but none of the hits have been hard. Have you seen otherwise?
