  1. Are we able to block posters on the new version of Soxtalk? I think I’ve had more than enough of Tom Longo’s endless Moncada whining.
  2. Way too early to worry about Hansen IMO. He was pretty damn good all of last season (including AA), so I assume he didn’t suddenly forget how to pitch. I agree he just needs to get into a rhythm with his mechanics. Long-term I think he will be fine, but this season is pretty much a lost cause and will push his timeline back a bit.
  3. Seems like they could have gotten more in the offseason IMO, but admittedly I don’t know much about the secondary pieces. Regardless, at least we won’t lose a pick now when we sign him next offseason.
  4. Maybe the Indians can sneak and empty out their farm system for him.
  5. I think the MLBPipeline mid-season list will have a few more guys. Hansen, Rutherford, & Collins would be my guesses.
  6. Oh I agree, I think all of Rutherford, Adolfo, & Basabe will crack some top 100 lists in addition to Collins. I’m just surprised that Zack is not on there despite being 3rd in the Southern League in wRC+ as age approximate 23 year old. As a 1B prospect alone he should make it IMO, the fact he might be able to stick at catcher only adds value.
  7. If he was in the Yankees system he would. Basabe absolutely dominated High A as a 21 year old. I feel like he’s getting penalized way too much for repeating the league despite the fact his struggles last year were tied to an injury. I can understand a kid like Florial being viewed at the better prospect, but I don’t see that much of a difference if I’m being honest. Basabe is a year older and may not have as loud of tools, but he provides a very similar skillset IMO.
  8. Hansen falling off the list completely is pretty absurd IMO. Also a bit surprised Collins didn’t make the bottom of the list.
  9. We’ll get something decent for Soria. He’s honestly been pretty damn good this year and his $10M option for 2019 actually might be seen as a positive now. We obviously won’t get a top 100 type for him, but I think a 45 FV prospect with some upside is possible. We also might be able to package him with Avalin or Cedeno to get a slightly better return.
  10. Who are the top relievers that are going to be available? He’s certaintly not an elite closer or anything like that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Soria is one of the better guys that can be had.
  11. I think we get an org top 10 guy, but one in the back half.
  12. I was only partially joking, he’s the type of player we need to add to change the complexion of the franchise. And I agree we could theoretically do it.
  13. Why did that lazy fuck have to take seven games to get his season going!
  14. Harper is going to look nice in black & white pinstripes.
  15. You view the front office as being KW & Hahn, when there are a lot more people that go into it. I’m pretty sure I heard or read there have been significant pro scouting changes since the Shields trade was made. I know we’ve added quite a few amateur scouts, both domestically and in Latin America. I believe we’ve expanded our analytics group in recent years as well. That doesn’t even account for Getz, Hostetler, Haber, etc. To say the front office is virtually unchanged is quite misleading, unless all the people whose input the decision makers rely on don’t count. And by no means am I defending Hahn or KW, but we have no choice at this point in the rebuild but to hope these personnel changes result in better decision making. These are the guys we’re stuck with and b****ing about their past failures won’t change a thing. Let me ask you this, what moves since the Shields have you disliked?
  16. I agree with you that we won’t get much of anything for him at his point, just too much risk given his last month and a half. But I also don’t believe this is the new Abreu. He was too damn good in April & May for this to be anything but a slump (perhaps partly injury related). It’s really bad timing though. I do agree the defense is a big issue and I wouldn’t be against shifting him to DH primarily.
  17. You thought a kid who never played a single at-bat for an affiliate and signed for only $800k had a good chance of being a top 50 prospect? If so, please send your resume to KW and maybe he’ll give you Rick’s job.
  18. Seems weird there are 7 NL guys in this, did no one want to participate from the AL?
  19. The other player has been battling an injury while winning the CWS. This may be the all-time record for least amount of time prior to hitting the panic button on a prospect.
  20. I pretty much see it this way, although Fry I might move down to the middle group because ABTR. The one guy you are missing is Covey. While he probably won’t make it as a starter, he seems like he has a chance of being a solid reliever.
  21. He must be coming into the game in the 9th. It would seem pretty shitty not to use him after he skipped a scheduled start.
