  1. In Greg’s alternative reality, it really comes down to celebrities to hold our sports teams accountable for strategies he doesn’t like!
  2. Were the Cubs an embarrassment to Chicago when they were tanking? If so, it’s too bad Bill Murray and other famous folks didn’t call them out, because maybe they would have abandoned their rebuild and never won a World Series.
  3. They wanted developmental guys on the major league coaching staff.
  4. You think the package the Blue Jays gave up for Donaldson was very similar to what we gave up for Shark? I would say you are very off with that take. We didn’t give up a single top 100 prospect in our deal. The Blue Jays gave up a young player that still had a ton of value at the time in Lawrie, a top 100 & ascending talent in Barreto, plus two arms (one who was a top 10 prospect in a strong system). As big of a fan of Semien I was at the time, we gave up far less in talent. Sub out Anderson for say Ravelo and maybe you’re closer.
  5. Yeah, I’m not optimistic the Bulls will be able to pull off a Melo trade that nets us a late 1st round pick and allows us to dump Felicio’s contract, but I have no idea why else they’d be trying to open up cap space right now. Using their available space now to avoid being burdened by Felicio in the coming years would be a win for us. Still can’t believe they gave that guy that contract in the first place.
  6. Fathom, how in the world did you uncover this tweet? I mean, this kid is like eleven years old.
  7. RealGM believes to take on Melo’s salary and hopefully dump Felicio’s contract in the process. Would also likely get a pick in the process. I guess we’ll see if the Bulls truly have the appetite to take on a shit contract.
  8. I’d love him on a short-term deal, but I can’t but help think he’ll get four years at least. Cutch is the guy I’d really wanted a year or so ago, but I doubt he can play a solid CF anymore. Adam Jones would have been ok on a one year deal, but his defense has completely deteriorated. I just can’t come up with a perfect option.
  9. Moncada is definitely pressing cause of his offensive struggles and it’s affecting the other areas of his game. I know it can be painful to watch at times, but once his offensive game starts clicking again the rest of his game will follow.
  10. This is pretty much my plan for next year at the moment. I really hope they can find a short-term, CF option that can hold down the fort for one or two years. I have no idea who that might be, but adding a veteran would be nice.
  11. This is just a remind to never discount the human factor with these guys in case Abreu & Moncada weren’t good enough examples. Obviously his issues go beyond his personal tragedy, but I think it’s fair to assume it’s partly responsible for his struggles as of late.
  12. 100% agree. No idea why Tim is still batting in the bottom third of the lineup most nights.
  13. I was 100% pro tank this year, but they do need to find a way to improve the on-field product next year even if a lot of their prospects are still not ready to start the season. Losing 100+ games again should not be an option IMO.
  14. Nothing would make me happier. I can endure all the losing, sloppy play, & growing pains as long as most of the key young guys show progress.
  15. I wish they would just give the CF job to Leury.
  16. Yeah, this is certainly bad timing if it’s just a slump. However, if he’s actually fallen off a cliff suddenly, I guess we didn’t extend him to your point. Sucks regardless though.
  17. He really hasn’t though, his rookie year was simply an outlier since the league hadn’t adjusted to him yet. Abreu looked awesome the first two months of this year. I have no idea what’s going on with him right now, but I don’t think it has anything to do with a normal aging curve. I’ve beaten this subject to death though, so I’ll just leave it as that.
  18. Can someone explain to me why two max contracts is not possible now? From what I can tell it still seems like a possibility. And quite frankly, if we could someone convince Butler & Irving to come here, we could easily move guys like Dunn or Hutchison to clear cap space.
