  1. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) Gillaspie is awesome He definitely seems like he'll be a useful player. Great trade by Hahn to get that left-handed hitting IF before the start of the season.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Not really bitter. I understood the move, but I think Flowers playing 5 or 6 games a week could eventually get very ugly. I don't think people really ever appreciated AJ like they should. He kept the back up catcher off the field. AJ was one of the most beloved Sox in recent memory. I'm not sure who didn't appreciate him.
  3. Does Santiago pitching an inning yesterday affect how many he can go today? I would assume so, which is going to make things ugly for us if Axelrod can only go 4 innings.
  4. Didn't Rios try stealing last night while Dunn was up?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) 50/50 chance this effectively ends his career with the Sox. He'd have to come back raking now, no time at all to struggle. Yeah, and if Gillaspie or whomever his replacement is plays well in his absence then there simply may be no starting role for him when he comes back.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) Thank god for Williams/Hahn/Marco Paddy that Santos hasn't done anything for the Blue Jays. We've struck out with both Zach Stewart and Molina so far. Not the greatest track record for somebody who should have intimate knowledge of their system. Hawkins, mirroring the major league team, added 2 K's to finish the evening. Now 3/15 on the year. I'm pretty sure that Paddy was hired after the Edwin Jackson trade.
  7. It will be nice when Barmum is healthy and hopefully assigned to low A. Kannopolis' lineup is practically void of actual prospects.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Don't jinx him! I said the same thing about Uribe in 2004. Yeah, sorry about that. Think I said the same thing about Paulie last year. But seriously, right now every time Rios comes up to bat I feel like he's going to get a bit. He's just so locked in at the moment.
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 06:36 PM) Hawkins with another HR. Awesome.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) But that is you. YOU. Those are things you do. You can't expect everyone to mimic your behavior simultaneously. There is a relatively small, dedicated core of fans that do this, probably 1/4 the fanbase if that. Then there is everyone else. So only 1/4 of our fanbase actually wants to attend more games when the team is playing well for an extended period of time in a particular season? If you really believe that, then you're implying that the rest of our fanbase doesn't care about winning at all (they'll attend a set number of games regardless of current performance) or they need a successful, completed season before they'll start attending more games. I call bulls*** on that. I think the issue comes down to money and hopefully the price cuts help with that.
  11. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) It is reality though. Look at the attendance from 2005 and 2006. Guess which one is higher? But since they didn't do anything in 2006 it went down in 2007. The previous season absolutely matters. I was only talking about single game tickets. I already acknowledged season tickets require sustained or established success. My point is pretty simple. If it's 80+ degrees in July and the Sox are in first place, I'm going to as many games as I possibly can. I could care less how they did last year or how they might do next year. I want to enjoy the team now while they're actually good.
  12. What's with all the TV show theme songs? Game of Thrones just now and Walking Dead earlier.
  13. How can he keep walking all these lefties?
  14. Nice player Flowers. Let's get two easy outs.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 08:06 PM) So who do we leadoff with? Wise I guess. Probably makes the most sense.
  16. Not how you want to start the inning. Peavy is going to have to battle.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 07:59 PM) Rey Olmedo, your time to shine. Someone please ban Caulfield for dropping Rey Olmedo's name twice in this thread. I actually think he's trying to jinx the game.
  18. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) I think Paulie, Dunn, Viciedo each should get a day off during a 3 interleague series. Agree with this. I'd rather not have any of them sit two days if possible.
  19. Rios is so f***ing awesome this year even when he's not trying to be.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) See Teahen, Mark. Rinse and repeat. They probably made the classic mistake of buying high on a player coming off a career year. Not typical White Sox GM'ing style from KW at all. It doesn't work with mutual funds, it doesn't usually work out with players with relatively pedestrian career stats at this stage of their careers to expect a repeat. Let's not compare him Teahen. At least Keppinger can crush lefties and play multiple positions. He may end up being overpaid if used in a platoon or reserve role, but he'll still be a useful player for us.
  21. At least both teams are playing stupid tonight. Let's attack their bullpen right out of the gate.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) So what do we attribute the poor overall quality of play (despite the record)? It used to be we could blame Ozzie and his coaching staff, but what's the excuse this time for our suddenly porous defense and brain cramps across the spectrum? Normally, the White Sox were pretty well prepared to play last season, with the exception of Tigers/Royals games. Our defense will be fine, we're just playing stupid and lazy baseball as of late.
  23. Amazing how quickly the momentum can change.
