  1. Looks like $1.66M…so maybe there is a chance he’s a slightly under-slot signing. I would actually love this type of pick in the 3rd round, but for whatever reason I expect a bit more floor than this in the 2nd. Obviously there is real upside here, but it’s a pretty risky profile based on the scouting reports and short clips I’ve seen of him.
  2. What’s the slot value of this pick?
  3. Wasn’t Pallette much higher regarded last year? Taylor is ranked in the 80 to 100 range by the bigger publications.
  4. This next pick will be very telling in that regard.
  5. Who are the best five still available?
  6. Is the 2nd round being streamed online? Apparently YoutubeTV no longer has MLBN.
  7. He’s got a profile that is much more consistent with Shirley’s approach and I’d be excited about getting him in the 2nd.
  8. The Sox need to target high-end upside in round 2. My biggest beef with the Gonzalez pick is a lack of ceiling. Outside of Montgomery, I’m not sure there is a single prospect in the system with “star” potential on the positional side and Jacob doesn’t change that calculus. And that’s highly problematic when your owner is unwilling to buy stars in free agency.
  9. So in a hypothetical “they all work out” scenario, how do we see Montgomery, Gonzalez, & Ramos lining up in the infield? SS, 2B, & 3B respectively?
  10. I mean, you can never have enough SS prospects. Not defending the pick, but him being a SS is not the reason to dislike.
  11. Grandal would technically be a 20 grade runner, although they may want to rethink the numbering system to allow a lesser figure just for him.
  12. You think Hahn would have realized that “safe” drafting ahead of a rebuild is a bad idea based on how the strategy failed last time and contributed to our competitive window rapidly ending. That being said, at least this kid is a legit SS and not a DH pretending to be a C, a 1B pretending to be a 3B, a DH pretending to be a 1B, or a 5’5”, 150 pound 2B. Still, not a fan of “safe” drafting (ESPN used the word at least five times when describing him) and makes me worry this is a Hahn pick and not Shirley’s. Also, the 30 grade speed is a bit bothersome.
  13. Thanks @DirtySox for all you do on draft night.
  14. Great day for the farm. Let’s go over the highlights! The Knights got slaughtered by the Jumbo Shrimp 13-2. SP Chase Solesky gave up six runs in 3.2 IP to bring his ERA up to 9.43 in his short tenure with the Knights. Alex Colome gave up 5 unearned in his brief 9th inning appearance before being pulled. Lenyn Sosa, the only hitter of interest, went 0-3. The Knights’ lineup left a robust 17 stranded. Birmingham lost 7-1 to the Smokies. Seven walks from the pitching staff, three errors from the defense, and five total hits unfortunately did the Barons in. Tatum, Ramos, Mieses, & Cespedes combined to go 0-14 with 7 K and 2 BB. Hackenberg did hit a HR, but offset with two errors behind the plate. On a positive note, Popeye went 2/4 with a 2B & SB. The Cannon Ballers kept it close, but ultimately lost 2-1. Tanner McDougal gave up 2 R in 4 IP and the bullpen held the Wood Ducks to zero runs, but the Low A lineup full of org guys was only able to scrap together five hits. The Dash were rained out and a system wide sweep was luckily avoided.
  15. What if Adam LaRoche un-retired?
  16. Tim swinging that Swiss cheese bat! God I love this team!
  17. Fucking lose you losers…lol
  18. Good thing we don’t have bench and need to rely on Sheets st 2B
  19. Graveman doing his best to kill any remaining trade value and be stuck in this hell hole for another year.
  20. “We are going to control the strike zone on both sides of the ball” - Pedro Grifol to the baseball world before realizing that would require actual coaching.
  21. A dominant Giolito start is all I ask for today.
  22. Do we have any left that actually questions now that Fegan is gone?
