  1. Any idea how to pull exit velocity splits?
  2. Honestly, I kind of do. Feels like they’re keeping around to make him the fall guy this off-season.
  3. Burger and a prospect to the Marlins for Wendle and a reliever could make sense for both sides.
  4. I’d avoid calling up any young hitters while Menechino is still around. He already destroyed Sosa in about a week…I wouldn’t let him touch someone as important as Colas.
  5. Gausman got less than what we offered Wheeler, so we were willing to pay market for a similar arm not too long ago. I think Reinsdorf would have been ok with a such a move, Hahn just prioritized other less important things.
  6. Watch it be Gregory
  7. And it’s not like we’re loaded with long-term pitching. If Giolito was unwilling to sign an extension, then we should have pursued a different veteran on a multi-year deal. I’d feel much better about the next three years if we had a guy like Gausman in the two slot of our rotation between Cease & Kopech.
  8. Entering the off-season I had three high-level goals I was hoping the White Sox would address: Replace Carlos Rodon with the best long-term starting pitching free agent we can afford Add much needed balance to the lineup while enhancing the defense where possible Improve the right side of our bullpen while also ensuring we have some starting depth Hahn legit failed on 2 1/2 half of these. Hahn refused to invest in a long-term starter even though there were several available at reasonable terms (I really wanted us to pursue Gausman). The only SP depth he had added prior to the Lynn injury was a guy who had put up a total of 1.0 fWAR over his previous 245 innings. Hahn did add some bullpen help from the right side, but paid top of market prices and signed one guy who was already injured and was expected to miss significant time. On the positional side, Hahn refused to add much needed LH power. Instead, his primary addition was a 34 year OF unable to play RF (negating some of the value even if the bat met expectations). Beyond that, Hahn brought back Leury Garcia on a three year deal and then paired him with RH hitting Josh Harrison to form a poorly constructed 2B platoon. Reese McGuire was added and is technically a lefty, but can’t hit RHP. At least he’s a quality defensive catcher. And here we are a half year later and look at what we’re talking about adding. We still need starting pitching, we still need more bullpen help, and we still need reinforcements against tough RHP. We also have a glut of 1B/DH types that we’re forced to play out of position way too frequently. The frustrating part is we will either overpay to address these same needs or go into the stretch run with obvious short-comings. Hahn really fucked up this off-season.
  9. Why would they move him and wouldn’t he cost a ton?
  10. Hahn is running a BOGO special on minor league savages and all he wants in return is a semi-controllable starter and a LH reliever. Just wait, Frankie Montas + AJ Puk for Colson Montgomery, Oscar Colas, & Norge Vera is going to happen brother.
  11. Mods - Can we please temporarily ban Parkman until after the trade deadline, so we don’t have endure hot takes like “Vaughn won’t hit enough to be a 1B”?
  12. Defensive metrics aren’t usually predictive without a larger sample of data, so I’m not sure I’d automatically assume his plus RF defense has fallen off. Could just be a bad little stretch that has no bearing on future exceptions.
  13. Yeah, it’s been ugly.
  14. Vaughn as primary DH and Pollock as the 4th OF who starts against LHP and fills in as needed. Odds of this group staying healthy is probably low, so not bad to have some additional depth.
  15. What’s interesting is seven of the guys I mentioned above were international signings. Paddy has done really well given the moral handcuffs he has to deal with.
  16. All because he strikes out a fuck-ton. I didn’t peg you as an only batting average matters type of guy.
  17. Ramos isn’t a middle infield prospect, although I guess there is a non-zero chance he can play some 2B. That being said, I’d go Ramos, Sosa, & then Rodriguez but it’s really damn close with the latter two. For reference, Baseball America has Ramos ranked #2, Rodriguez #3, and Sosa #8 in our mid-season rankings.
  18. Again to reiterate my previous point on Gallo vs RHP. 2019 to 2021 w/ TEX: 122 wRC+ Away splits w/ NYY: 123 wRC+ Home splits w/ NYY: 92 wRC+ Maybe playing in New York is a problem, maybe it’s not, but if the cost is a song I feel it’s a gamble worth taking. Additionally, let’s not ignore his 28 defensive runs saved in RF since 2019, which 4th overall amongst RFs and even more impressive on a per innings basis. He’s far from a perfect player even when things are going right, but we desperately need power from the LH side and better defense in RF and he might be able to address both on the cheap.
  19. Davis Martin has definitely be a pleasant surprise this year on the pitching side.
  20. And then Tony will play Leury over him in RF and bat him lead off for good measure ?
  21. Why the hell are we talking about the Cubs potential off-season plans in a trade deadline thread? Let’s worry about our own problems.
  22. Then you won’t find trade partners
  23. Just get Gallo for a song if that’s the price for Happ.
  24. Because Sox fans hate the three true outcome approach he lives by and he does so to the very extreme.
