  1. Our young core is locked up for the next five years for the most part. I’m all for sacrificing some depth to improve our chances this year, but trading Kopech & Madrigal for Lynn would be such a stupid move and I say that as perhaps the biggest fan of Lance on this board. We do not have to go all in on this season.
  2. Lynn wouldn’t be our third starter, he’d arguably be our ace depending on which version of Giolito you’re getting.
  3. He’s saying not to trade top prospects like Madrigal though.
  4. Where you hearing this? I haven’t seen anything really on Bummer, but easily could have missed it.
  5. So basically we’re sticking with the starters we got? Not sure how Stone can rule out all trade targets and the more reasonable FA’s next year unless we simply don’t plan on adding one.
  6. I honestly don’t think most people are ok with trading Cease.
  7. There are only 29 games left, he better hurry if he’s looking to rebuild his value.
  8. If we plan to add a starter at some point, then Stiever is totally expendable. I would definitely be open to a trade for Nimmo centered around Stiever, but not sure if that will be enough for the Mets. Just not convinced they’re looking to sell right now.
  9. Thompson & Kelley are recent high school picks who have never pitched in full season ball and can’t be counted on anytime soon as pitching depth. Maybe Crotchett is a fast mover, but under no circumstance can you trade all three of Kopech, Dunning, & Stiever. Who exactly is the #5 starter in 2021? God forbid a starter goes down too.
  10. Unless you think McCann is getting ~$2.5M/year, you’re really looking at sometime $30M for him & Grandal. Even if we pushed our payroll up to $140M that would reflect +20% of our total resources being committed to those two guys. I seriously doubt that will happen.
  11. Because LA may not want him any longer (hence them almost trading him to the Angels this past offseason). As for Joc, dude is having a tough year and may be willing to consider a pillow contract rather than settle for what could be a reduced multi-year deal. Playing for an explosive offense in a HR friendly park might be attractive to him if he wants to wait a year for a better market and a new CBA to be in place.
  12. Vaugh has that type of offensive ceiling. He’s going to hit for both power & average while also drawing a ton of walks. He’s literally a complete hitter.
  13. I seriously doubt Vaughn gets traded. Dude could easily become our best hitter and is dirt cheap. Eloy isn’t getting moved to DH until 2023 at the earliest.
  14. Why is Colas signing first? I thought last we heard he still had some ties to Japan. IMO, Cespedes is the more likely signing and makes way more sense for our roster.
  15. I think the peaking angle doesn’t really matter when you’re starting in 6 to 7 win range and you’d only have control of him for one more Eason. To me, it’s the latter point of his build / body being a risk for a substantial drop-off at any point that concerns me.
  16. I’m not suggesting it’s an unfair ask, but I’m one of Dunning’s biggest fans and see a good five year window in front of us that Dane should be a big part of. To me he’s part of the core and I’d like to avoid trading any core pieces for a short-term fix.
  17. This team appears to have great chemistry at the moment, no need to introduce a wild card in Puig who also hasn’t been playing.
  18. DeGrom also has an opt-out after the 2022 season, which changes the value prop as well.
  19. Yeah, they’re only a couple games out of the playoffs, so hard to see them selling right now. Not sure how teams’ view DeGrom’s contract as it’s big dollars but with huge deferrals. Either way it’s not cheap, which will limit the amount of teams interested and should keep the price down to some extent. He obviously won’t come cheap though even if the Mets are willing to move him.
  20. Lynn won’t be coming for extremely cheap. Cleveland is unlikely to trade Clevinger within the division unless it’s for an absolute haul. And Hader is a closer that would cost us massive pieces, so not sure why you’d want him. I’d love to add DeGrom, but the Mets would want a ton back for him.
  21. Jim Bowden from the Athletic has a trade he’d like to see every team make. For the Sox, he has Dunning & Stiever for Lynn. As much as I’d love to add a guy like Lynn, Dunning is more or less an untouchable for me.
  22. If you’re Hahn, how do you not want to do something crazy after tonight?
