  1. Not necessarily, in this case I think they realized they weren’t getting full value for Joc and decided to hold off.
  2. You play fantasy football? Think about that trade each year in your league where you go “Holy fuck had I known I would have topped that”. Basically word got out, the Dodgers heard from some other teams, and they quickly had second thoughts about the Sox’s offer.
  3. Exactly, maybe there is something unique about him that has caused him to underperform his batted ball profile, but he was the only guy to underachieve his xWOBA by more than 20 points in both 2018 & 2019. It’s hard to believe something like shifts are the reason he’s the sole guy to do that. I honestly believe there’s untapped value here.
  4. Come on man, maybe if you’re counting all the dinky trades that would be true, but his misses have been significant and without question is at a loss in aggregate.
  5. Are you suggesting acquiring Blake Snell is repeating “things that don’t work”?
  6. Yes. It would have to start with Vaughn and either Cease or Kopech. And would probably require a decent third piece too like Collins. If you’re making such a trade, you better go out and sign Ryu as well. A 1-2-3 of Snell, Giolito, & Ryu would be sick as fuck with Lopez and a cheap veteran holding down the 4 & 5 spots until Kopech is ready (if Cease is the one dealt). They’d really be going all in on a four year window though.
  7. While Snell would be amazing, trading with the Rays sounds like a disaster in the making.
  8. Oh fuck, been on the road and just saw this. These guys aren’t fucking around it appears. I just hope if they’re going after a big starter this was always part of the plan and not a reaction to missing out on Wheeler.
  9. Ozuna was a top 25 hitter in all of baseball last year based on xWOBA. I know people don’t think he’s that good of a hitter based on his OPS / wRC+ the last two years, but I personally put a ton of faith in the Statcast metrics and think he’s a guy who blow up next year.
  10. Ok, that’s some serious ? right there.
  11. The problem is that you have a vastly different view of Ozuna than most of us here do. The majority of us see a 3 win OF, seems like you see something far less or one that will quickly become far less in due time.
  12. Because the dude is a self-centered douchbag who also isn’t that good at baseball to overcome the clubhouse concerns.
  13. Plan B should be the following: Ryu - 3/$75M Ozuna - 4/$72M Wood - 1/$8M Treinen - 1/$7M Gennett - 1/$6M Come June you’re looking at this shit: Robert, CF Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Ozuna, RF Grandal, C# Jimenez, LF Anderson, SS Collins, DH* Madrigal IF: Gennett* OF: Engel UT: Garcia# BC: McCann Giolito Ryu* Cease Kopech Wood*/Lopez CL: Treinen SU: Colome SU: Bummer* MR: Herrera MR: Fry* MR: Cordero MR: Marshall LR: Lopez/Wood*
  14. I was referring to posters here whining about his fashion choices like the crooked hat.
  15. God I love Hector Gomez. Dude got way too much unwarranted hate last offseason, when he was entirely right the whole time.
  16. Honestly, I was super high on Ozuna until all the “arm is shot” comments started to come out here. If the arm is expected to return to form, I’d be all over him because I truly believe the bat can be special.
  17. Only old white men get to decide what fashion choices are acceptable and by their unanimous decision no flair is allowed!!
  18. Ozuna doesn’t preclude them from addressing their pitching staff. They are adding two starters either way, with one being a multi-year type and one being of the stop-gap variety. And candidly speaking, they won’t be signing two relievers to guaranteed contracts. Colome, Herrera, Bummer, Fry, Marshall, & Cordero are pretty much locks. That leaves one spot for a guaranteed contract and I wouldn’t be expecting a vastly expensive addition there (probably a $5M AAV type). For better or worse, we’re hoping some of the young bullpen arms (Hamilton, Burdi, etc) will push for spots. But real talk, how in the world could they get by in RF with what they have? What we got out of RF last year was the worst producing in baseball by wide margin. If people don’t like Ozuna that’s totally fine, but we’d defiantly need to make a big addition to solve RF. It’s as big of as issue as our pitching needs.
  19. It’s really hard to get a read on Ozuna’s arm. All I could find was his shoulder was like 52% as of last spring training, but that wasn’t long after his surgery and there was still reason for optimism. However, numerous posters here claim his arm is shot, so I’m not sure what to believe exactly.
  20. Probably Gus Fring
  21. 5/$150M will not get it done in this market.
  22. I don’t think Fulmer is getting any attention at this point. Collins might have some interest to them, but not as a headliner and I don’t see the Pirates selling Archer this offseason while his value is so low. He looks like more of a trade deadline type to me.
