  1. I think this is true, but he probably needs a good two or three months of plus production before other teams are willing to pay the price we’d desire.
  2. Not sure I love the Mets as a trading partner. You’d have to get Jett Williams as the centerpiece and something about 5’ 6” guys scare me at the moment.
  3. Exactly. Let’s not cut bait on talented young players after three games in a season where only losing 110 would feel like a victory.
  4. The poster said we should send him down to AAA after three games. Sosa is not the guy replacing him on the 26 man roster. He may get more at-bats as a result but he should be getting those at the expense of Maton (and Amaya) and not Baldwin. Both guys are going to be needed if we want any semblance of a competent offense.
  5. It’s going to need Meidroth, Teel, & Quero eventually too. They will go through their struggles, but should bring a better quality at-bat from day one than some of the retreads currently on this roster.
  6. Guy who can play pretty much any position and put up a 150 wRC+ last year in the minors is “hardly a prospect worth playing”…dear god make it make sense
  7. Sosa is already on the roster. And if you aren’t happy with Brooks’ production so far, I can assure you won’t be happy with Ramos right now. Beyond not being able to throw at the moment, he showed he was much further away than Baldwin last year with the bat. Bryan needs at least half a season in AAA to regain his form before we should even consider calling him up. And I say this as a huge Ramos fan. Unfortunately, young players are going to look bad in small samples and we have endure those struggles if we want to come out on the other side of this rebuild with a competitive core.
  8. As pathetic as it is, we need Tauchman back ASAP. He’s unfortunately one of our only proven bats against RHP and his addition helps us get Jankowski off this roster altogether.
  9. Yup, we’re in year two of a rebuild so we should just dump an actual prospect in Baldwin after three games and go sign the UT version of Jankowksi
  10. Yup, just a terrible plan of attack for that at-bat
  11. If you’re first pitch hunting against a guy not throwing strikes, it’s got to be something you’re certain you can square up on and likely advance the runners.
  12. What a fucking choke job after getting the first two guys on and Jansen super wild.
  13. Zero outs…winning run at 1st. Let’s fucking do this.
  14. But he’s Nick Madrigal!
  15. Fully agree. Will be a bit better when Tauchman & Rojas are here. Jankowski really shouldn’t be on a major league roster. And Amaya and Maton leave a ton to be desired for even if they were just bench pieces. Just a lot of bad depth options for Venable unfortunately. That being said, Sosa should be DHing over Maton regardless of handedness.
  16. Nick Maton DHing 2/3 of games to open the season is not something I would have taken 1,000,000-1 odds on if given to me
  17. Keep your hands to yourself…this is a family friendly message board buddy
  18. Alright boys, we officially have our first rubber match of the season. Lineups are obviously not out yet, but the Angels will be starting Jack Kochanowicz today. He is a massive RHP who uses a sinker heavy arsenal (73%) to generates a ton of groundballs (57%) similar to Soriano. However, he differs from the latter in that he’s got better command but weaker secondaries. As such, he won’t walk a lot of guys but won’t K too many either (his 3.4 K/9 rate last year would make Jared Shuster look like Randy Johnson in comparison). This guy should be much more beatable than Soriano yesterday. In terms of lineup construction, we need guys with speed or guys who are more likely to keep the ball of the ground. And as much as I want Vaughn riding pine, the lack of better options at the moment and the fact he has a bomb off Kockanowicz would have me slot him in at DH. On top of that, I’d move Vargas over to 1B today, play Baldwin at 3B, go with Maton at SS, Sosa at 2B, Thaiss at C, and an OF of Benitendi, Robert, & Taylor. It’s not a sexy looking lineup, but the goal today should be to scrap some hits together and manufacture a few runs. After two strong starts from Burke & Cannon, it should be very clear this Angels lineup is very much beatable. I’m optimistic Martin will continue that trend today with five or six quality innings. If the offense doesn’t beat itself today by pounding every ball into the ground, I think we should win this one. Bold prediction is a 3-2 win to take the series. Let’s fucking go!
  19. Vaughn is the biggest bust of the past rebuild
  20. A leadoff Vargas walk would sure be swell.
