Robert can obviously hit. I expect an above 100 wRC+ out of Vargas, Meidroth, Baldwin (if he gets playing time), and possibly Sosa. I think Teel & Quero will be above average hitting catchers when they get called up. Hell, I’m confident you’ll get a 100+ wRC+ out of a Tauchman / Slater RF platoon. The problem is beyond Robert, no one is likely to be well above 100 wRC+. And shockingly, if this all happened, the offense would blow last year’s out of the water.

Early favorite for POTY!!! Well done!

He’s super interesting as a AAA lottery ticket, I just hate rostering him because he doesn’t help the major league club right now and the chance of him ever amounting to something before he ages out is incredibly remote. But his ceiling is super fucking high if he could ever hit just a little.

At least someone got the reference!

To be honest, that’s a decent AAAA OF. You forgot Julks too!

He could still join DeLoach and the fun bunch in AAA

Can we try to sneak Mike Jones through waivers if we pick up Canairo?
-
Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Albuquerque is arguably the best HR park in AAA, right up there with Charlotte.

Alexander Canario
To be fair, Jones has elite speed and provides defense, but I dislike this move even moreso because I’m skeptical he’ll hit enough to be even be a 4th OF.

Has Canario been DFAed yet by the Mets?

So we’re wasting a 40 man roster spot on a 27 year old defensive specialist while at the beginning phase of a rebuild?

He’s 27 years old with a 20 grade hit tool. I get he’s a plus athlete, but his bat won’t play in the big leagues.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Based on the projected roster above, we would need to make room for three roster spots. Thorpe being 60 day IL’d is one. Eisert seems like he will be on the chopping block soon enough. No fucking clue why we just picked up a 27 year old with a 20 grade hit tool if it means DFAing someone else.

Didn’t catch that, adjust above now

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Was about to post who was Greg Jones as he’s already listed on the 40 man roster, but you beat me to it!

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
FWIW, fringier guys on the 40 man roster missing from Charlotte: Oscar Colas Brandon Eisert Jordan Leasure Thorpe can be moved to the 60 day IL to free up a spot, but my guess is those are three guys most at risk for a DFA.

Opening Day Thursday 3:10 p.m. versus Angels (not the game thread, lol) Who's going???
These are your guesses?

Alexander Canario
I’m not a big believer that Canario will work out given his contact issues, but there’s no reason not to pick him up and use him as a platoon OF. Against LHP: Slater, DH Robert, CF Benintendi, LF Vaughn, 1B Vargas, 3B Sosa, 2B Canario, RF Lee, CA Amaya, SS Taylor would be the odd man out here, but so be it, I was never a big fan of his addition. Obviously things could change when Tauchman & Rojas come back and whenever Teel, Quero, Meidroth, Montgomery, Ramos, etc. force the need for a roster spot, but we should have a window here to get a glimpse of what Canario is capable of without making other permanent roster decisions.

Sox Spring Training notes
Neither has a professional at-bat correct? I’m guessing they will be very short lived assignments. Otherwise, I don’t feel like Saucke should be ahead of either of them.
-
Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Rotation sounds like it will be: Burke Cannon Martin Perez Smith The latter two aren’t official yet, but it’s what Merkik is implying.
-
Sox Spring Training notes
I don’t anticipate Montgomery & McLain being at Low A very long…agree it’s just about allowing them to get their feet wet in a low stress environment before early season promotions to High A.

For now, SunTimes hints Amaya starter at SS (Maton Gray Baldwin Jankowski all boarded plane for Chicago)
Sorry, I just meant that 26 man roster is static during spring training and doesnt reflect any of the NRI’s likely to make it.
