  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) yes, everyone who does not want Wise starting is an Anderson fanboy Never said that. I said the people who booed BRG were Anderson fanboys. And I give sympathy to them, I know how they feel watching him struggle with each at bat. Praying he gets a hit. I don't think they felt any for me though when I was in the fetal position watching Deweezy bat leadoff. But I predicted he would fail there, then rightfully get moved to the bottom of the order where he would dominate the league. Hopefully Brian is good enough to keep us close til BRG comes back to fulfill my prediction. And who knows, Brian might be the second coming of WRG and I'll join the fanboys too.
  2. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 07:10 AM) Well, that, and everytime James Diego decides to talk in 3rd person and tell everyone how they are wrong about Dewayne and when he give out really bad acronyms. Other than that, its kind of dead Brian was the genuis behind BRG: Brian's blog For the fanboys' sake, hopefully Anderson may one day give us another White Ross Gload.
  3. I don't have his jersey yet, but I got his signed baseball card. And how is it gonna up it's value if he doesn't play this year?
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Ah, I get it now. You are DeWayne Wise. All right DeWayne, to be clear, actually like you, and I like having you on the 25-man roster. I just didn't like having you start in CF and leading off and I think you're a better player coming off the bench. Sorry for the misconception. No, I'm not the BRG (Black Ross Gload). I just feel like I know him so much(even though I never met him), that I figured I would share with y'all how Deweezy feels about all this. Anderson fans are'nt racist, even though some might like him a bit more because he's white. It's only natural, just as when Larry Bird said the NBA needs some white stars to make the NBA more popular and to better relate to the majority white fans. And to the guy who said being biased is being racist, your flat wrong dude. That would make everyone in this country racist, because we're all biased in one way or another. And your FOS if you don't admit that. On another note, I find it ironic that these people are fanboys of Anderson, while Brian is a fanboy of BRG. And who can blame him? Who in their right mind wouldn't want a Black Ross Gload roaming in CF for us.
  5. Deweeezy blew off all the racism talk, he's just glad he doesn't play on the Northside. And he was hurt by the boos, but knows it was just fanboys who collect Anderson's underwear. Once they figure out the truth about Brian, Deweezy will be making his revenge tour on the Southside. Those who doubted him will be shamed. And Pods better than Wise? Thats pathetic, especially by those who arguing like hell that they actually cared about defense.
  6. This is all part of Deweeezy's plan. He wants this Anderson love fest crap to be done with. Just gave this opportunity as a gift to Brian. I just pray that this will be the end of "Brian's getting completely screwed over" comments. How many games does he need to play in the next 6 weeks for it to be considered a "true opportunity" by the Anderson jockers? My prediction is that Brian will play the majority of games the next week or so, and then start to get some heat from Lillibridge. Little boots has made some changes, looks absolutely different from the majority of ST. If Brian ***** this up early on, I expect Brent to get time in CF and do well. One way or the other, this supposed lack of opportunity for Brian is no more. Now it's all about what the hell are you gonna do with it Anderson?
  7. The new articles today just prove that Ozzie & KW are not the idiots most here made them out to be. Wise is just keeping the seat warm for Getz. They just prove what I orginally thought, they just want to be a little cautious with Getz being a rookie. And it's perfectly understandable with how much they have invested in him so far, and the hope they have for him in the future. Getz will be leading off in a month or two, with Wise/Anderson moved down. This is not gonna decide the division, it was all a big fuss over ABSOLUTELY nothing.
  8. Just accept it people, he is a God among men. What happaned to cheering for the little guy? And for those that want to be back PODS?? Are you kidding, please. Even Brian is in love with the Deeeweeezy: "I hope no one gets offended, because it's not meant to be offensive, but I really do call him the black Ross Gload. He's the African-American Ross Gload, there you go. Ross Gload is so versatile and he's such a great hitter. But a guy like Dewayne Wise, you're almost in awe, wondering why this guy is not playing everyday somewhere. This guy was about to go play Independent ball and he's helping us win postseason games" Brian's postseason blog
  9. Here's another link to lift your spirits ya'll:
  10. LOL It's not gonna be the end of the world to have Wise hit against righties. It's pretty simple, I think his at bats against righties are more valuable than the difference between the defense of him and Brian. With Anderson playing against lefties, some righties and being a late defensive replacement it's not that big a deal. And if it turns out to be an albatross defensively, then they have Brian right there. Ozzie made some kind of point in playing Mackoviak over him, but Anderson seems to have won some favor by growing up last year. If it's needed, they will make the change this time. Only time will tell, but I think some posters are gonna change their mind about Wise. Lets get this **** started already!
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) Wow - a D-Wise fan. You may be alone here on SoxTalk. So, fill us in. What makes you think Wise will do well? He's not been successful, at really any level, for any full season. What makes you think he'll figure it out now? I don't think he's great or anything, but he's WAY better than people around tak about him. Somehow in many Sox fans minds, Wise and Owens got morphed into one freaky being. And it's more of my lack of faith in Mr Anderson. But of course I could be wrong and if he out hits Wise, then he should get most of the playing time. By the end of the year both might be on the bench so Beckham can play SS and Ramirez CF. With Wise, he changed his swing before last year. Racked at Charlotte with a .319avg .402obp 9hrs in 55 games, and earned the callup. Hit .288 with us before Ozzie put him in the leadoff. It was too much for him, and sucked it up for the next 8 games with a .080avg. But that was only 8 freaking games until the end of the season that he blew. And it was after he got moved in the leadoff position in the middle of a freakin pennant race. But he then turned it around by hitting .286 with 5 rbi's in the playofffs. But I don't support him leading off by any means. I think Oz wants to take it rightfully slow with Getz, but he'll be in the leadoff by years end. Wise should bat only bat against righties, with Brian replacing him at end of games. I believe in a fluid offense and Brian will be a huge black hole. We lived through Mackoviak people, Wise isn't that bad.
  12. Most of your people's pain, is my joy:))...Of course I would prefer Wise at the bottom of the order and Getz leading off. And no matter how much you guys call Ozzie an idiot for not having Getz leadoff right away, there is always a risk in it being too much for a rookie. Small risk for Getz, yes, but NONE of you know how he will do leading off without getting his feet wet first. And it will be a platoon with Brian hitting against lefties, it's not like he's going to purgatory or anything. If he clearly out hits Wise, he will see more playing time. So it's gonna be a season battle between them for playing time. Mano y mano. To the death. And this time it's for real. And in my opinion Wise his gonna shove his bat up Brian's ass and turn him into a popsicle:
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Welcome to Soxtalk, How many times do we have to learn the lesson about putting a not so good defensive guy out in CF. Wise was not a good defensive LF, I dont see how that gets better when he moves to CF. He fell apart not when he was put in the 1 hole, its when he was given more playing time. Wise is a 4th OF, and is not a starter. When bench players become starters they sometimes get exposed. Thats what happened to Mr. Wise. As a role player, he is okay. When we moved him to leadoff there was 8 games left. He had the same amount of at bats in those 8 games as the previous 8 games before leading off. So that theory that he fell apart because of more opportunities doesn't work. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) I don't actually hate Wise and I've even said more than once that if he plays his way onto the roster as a bench player then he deserves it, but seriously he's not a good player and should not be starting everyday in CF under any circumstances (and I don't love Anderson either and have said repeatedly that he can't hit, those 2 things don't have to be interchanged but that's where the arguments always go). People are trying to make him into something he's not here, he is a bench player, and should be getting spot starts/pinch hit appearances. If we're going to give a 31 year old minor league journeyman mitigating circumstances such as "making major changes in his swing" then Anderson should get that same excuse since he's been trying to do the same thing. I also don't really buy the "pressures of the leadoff spot" argument (why would it be any different in the 2 hole where similar things are expected of you?) since I fully support Getz doing that unless/until he shows he can't or KW finds a more ideal solution. Well I would look at Swisher, after he got done with leadoff he was a shell of himself with his .210 average. It was his first to time lead off in his career and I think it's safe to say it had a big effect. After the trade Ozzie publicly apologized for putting him in that situation, so he obviously feels the same. With Wise, I believe it was similar. He batted .288 before being moved to leadoff, and .080 after. He put a big donut in Minny 0-12, but It wasn't like anyone else lighting it up in that horrible series. If you take out that weekend that he batted leadoff, he hits .254 for September & .273 for the year. It wasn't terrible as the group think here makes it out to be. And don't forget the .286 in the playoffs. So yea, he's probably a fourth outfielder on most teams, but not this one. And not behind Anderson. In 05 we had a damn efficient offense because there wasn't a major weakness in the lineup. That was when even Uribe was still decent. And we already have Paulie to mope around and feel sorry for himself when he's not hitting on this team. I've noticed that Brian likes to imitate that crap. But hey, if he hits at least .255-.260 with 15-20 hrs, I'd be happy with him. I just don't think he could.
  14. I'm a new posterhere , but long time reader. I have to say that the hate on here for Wise is getting pretty ridiculous. And the love for Brian Anderson is, dare I say, much similar to what I expect to read on that "other" White Sox message board. For Brian. Freakin. Anderson. If he maybe put in some more effort & work into learning how to hit, like playing some winter ball, and putting up some decent numbers there. Then yea, I'll be all for it, but I guess he SOMEHOW thinks to good for winter ball. And I by no means am advocating Wise for leadoff, but for the 9 hole. Yes, he's career minors average is .259, which has been pointed out frequently lately. But that neglects to take into account that he made a major change in his swing before last year. After which he simply racked with a .319 .402(BA/OBP), and in turn earned himself a call up. He hit .276 batting 9th, .286 in the 2 hole. Of course he fell apart when Ozzie put him in leadoff in the important series in Minny, as it was too much for him. But you gotta say he was clutch: 2 outs/RISP average of .286, with late & close of .389. Give the guy a break. As everyone else I say Getz leadoff, but give me Wise at 9. Brain could still be his defensive replacement and start against most lefties.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) I still say best case scenario, Alexi struggles at SS so moving him to CF makes sense. Call Beckham up and one of Lillibridge/Nix/Getz hopefully pan out and produce at 2B. And we have a winner, It's a perfect scenario for the White Sox. No matter what they say publicly I believe there is a small bit of doubt in Alexei's SS playing ability. And Beckham is their insurance policy. If Ramirez struggles defensively, he gets moved to CF, they bring up Gordon. If whoever wins 2B is struggling, they also bring up Gordon to take his spot. Nice situation to have.
