  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) I would suspect if this is totally true, JR would not let KW fire Ozzie until all avenues of reconciliation were attempted and they failed. He'll be very deliberate and maybe will never let KW fire Ozzie or may reluctantly let him if he figures they cannot work together. I wonder if KW is hoping Ozzie says something so crazy, something most of us feel will eventually lead to Ozzie's demise, so he has to fire him. I still think my theory that Ozzie's voice became heard a lot more by the 2009 failure even with adding significant payroll during the season, may be valid. I know for a fact JR was pissed off at the end of last season with the team's performance. Maybe he started listening to Ozzie more and more. The quote JR had this past winter when he said about Ozzie, "he should get the team he wants", makes me think he was willing to try Ozzie's way at least this season. Barry Rozner had a column the other day saying it was time JR stepped in and likened Ozzie to a seven year old brat who will do whatever he pleases because he knows he'll never be held accountable. Both these guys have huge egos and both really believe they are the reason there is a WS trophy at USCF. Thx for the heads up, good read. Now why can't either of our larger two papers call Ozzie out like that.. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=387492
  2. I gotta believe that JR would do whats best for the orgainization. I'm sure he's embarrassed as hell that all this is going on while the camera's are rolling. And firing Oz during the season would just add to the embarrassment. He probably just wants to calm things down and take care of it(Ozzie) after the season. I hope.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) Reinsdorf has an amazing bond with Ozzie. If Reinsdorf calls the shots, Ozzie will be here for as long as he wants. He did let his good buddies Doug Collins and Tony La Russa get fired by the GM's.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) This might sound dumb because baseball is a long grind, but doesn't it seem like the Sox are playing playoff intensity baseball against the Cub? And guess what? We play well and win. Do the Sox play "hard" every night, especially against the lowlife Indians and Royals? I'm just wondering if the nights we sleepwalk and suck has something to do with mental frame of mind. Or is it just that we are a mediocre team? I hate to use the "playing hard" analogy but to me it seems these Cub games have been intense and we've played well as a result. Is playing hard a misnomer or only appropriate to football and basketball? Unlike a few yrs ago, he no longer is able to motivate them against "inferior" teams. Possibly the players getting tired of & tunning out Ozzie. Maybe they're getting distracted from the off the field drama this season. All the more reasons to fire him.
  5. Cowely is pathetic. He lets is out that KW is talking to him, yea, I wonder why? And then talks about the White Sox soap opera, as if he's not the one throwing logs on the fire.
  6. I'd love to see Ozzie replaced by Carlton Fisk or Sandy Alomar Jr
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) Well yes, if the team was playing well, then I highly doubt this would be going on. Reinsdorf should be pretty ashamed of himself if this story is true when you consider the VDN/Paxson situation as well. But just remember D. Wade, JR is not loyal at all!! You're being sarcastic right? If anything JR is loyal to a fault. He will probably keep Oz and KW for the duration of the season, instead of firing Oz like he needs to. I'm so sick of his drama from his family, we all know it's Oney who is Cowleys source. Starting up s***, trying to blame all this on KW. Everyone deserves blame here. And who the **** would of guessed that Beckham would of nose dived like this. GMAFB
  8. But even if scouts and teams think he could turn it wround in the NL, it's still probably too much of a risk for them. Especially with is trade kicker. I wish we could find someone to take him though. With Hudson up next year, I'd rather have a resigned Garcia than Buehrle.
  9. Possibly? More like definately. They will not give Pujols' money to Mark Buehrle.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) The White Sox have no choice. How can this team win next year with the players that they have either on the parent club or in the farm system. They can't. Acquire free agents, you may suuggest? Not with the money tied up with Peavy and Rios. They should have some dough, assuming Jenks and Putz would not be here. And possibly Konerko too, even though we need him next year. Our options would be limited regardless. Adam Dunn would be out of out price range. I guess we could buy low on Derrek Lee & Matsui, but would they even want to play for us?
  11. Ozzie needs to go for his tired bull$#!t. And take that P.O.S. Oney with you.
  12. The Cards are worried about the money they have to pay Pujols. He makes $16 mil next season, but will get $30+ the season after. The same year as Buehrle's option yr, he will have to waive it for them to accept him. And even then, they may say no. Taking back the bad contract of Perez is a good idea.
  13. Maybe in order to go to the Cards Buehrle would waive his player option if asked. But I highly doubt it. I don't see anyone even thinking about trading for him.
  14. Peavy seem untradeble. And on wikipedia it says that if Buehrle gets traded he gets a $19 million player option. Is that true? If yes, that was crazy for KW to agree to that. The Cards won't even trade for him for nothing.
  15. Why the hell are we still debating Rowand around here?
  16. Any kind of change can only be a good thing. What can it really hurt to try to spark the club before Kenny starts trading players away?
  17. Cowley(yea, whatever) reported today that Kenny is now comtemplating changes in the coaching staff. Even though Oz is supposed to be in charge of who his coaches are, that might change soon. Said KW is not interested in making changes to the players yet. I hope Walker is gone by the end of the week.
  18. wtf? I guess there's too many people of french descent in this country.
  19. Even though it was all doom & gloom, it was still a good read Caufield. But this is a good team, they just need more time to gel. Hopefully that meeting last night would do them good, Beck's seemed to like what was said by Oz. Can't get any worse than last night, maybe that was their bottom.
  20. "A Hitting Clinic: The Walt Hriniak Way" by Walt Hriniak. There are four used copies for only 60 cents each on amazon! Let's all pitch in and donate this book to these bums. They'll have to learn how to share though. Maybe we'll give Walker his own personal copy.
  21. This is truly awesome. And I agree the profound F-Bomb usage was poetic. I nominate you to be a moderator, Sir Quinarvy.
  22. This thread gives me a boner. And I'm not talking about the mere mention of Kotsay's wife. But if us mortals on a message board can figure this out, than I'm sure there are people getting in Ozzie's ear about this. Rios to 5, and play Jones over Kotsay damn it
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) And again, not only is that conjecture, but I find it incredibly unlikely. This is Oney, not Ozzie. Do you think that Oney as a low level employee, has had enough interaction with Hahn to come to the conclusion that he lies to his face. Or that KW lied about not being told anything about the website deal. Or that Rick Hahn, Scott Reifert, Dan Fabian are three geeks who never played a day a baseball in their life talking like they know more than others. He said he never talked with any of them, how would he come to those conclusions without hearing that from others? Yea, he could of heard that from people that he worked with in the office, or in the club house. Or, he could of possibly heard that at the dinner table from Ozzie. You don't think Ozzie talks trash about people he works for/with to his family? Everyone talks trash on their boss, so why is that incredibly unlikely? But usually our family members don't go blabbing our true feelings on the radio. I think it's a possibility, for sure.
  24. I almost feel bad for Oz. But Oney is the beast he created.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) What a spoiled brat. But your last graf there is not only pure conjecture, I think its incredibly unlikely to be true. You think Ozzie is using Oney as a parrot? Your really think Ozzie is afraid to speak his mind? Seriously? This is Oney being a little brat, plain and simple. And his conduct would have gotten him fired from nearly any other organization or company. No. All I'm saying is Oney is probably spilling the beans on the true feelings of Ozzie. I think Oney was just relying Ozzie's vents & feelings about how he really feels about. Stuff that he tells his family about the organization. Not thinking that his son would go around blabbing to the world what he really feels. I think 'ol Oz probably cringed while he listened to that interview. Thats what I took out of it at least.
