Sun-Times: Trades Will Happen Soon if Sox Fail
jamesdiego replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) That would be about as effective as those electronic town hall meetings that Ross Perot proposed back in the day. Yay, let's cut all government spending. Ooops, I guess we need to keep the military, we can't cut national parks, I need my Medicare A & B and no way they can take away my Social Security!!! 40% of the people in the US would probably decide to get rid of the Federal government and Washington, D.C., altogether. The point is...an unscientific "opinion poll" or survey either here or at Chicago Trib or Sun Times.com isn't the best way to run a ballclub, it's a Bill Veeck stunt disguised as giving the fans a voice. The last thing that Reinsdorf wants to do is give Sox fans any power in the decision-making process of this team. It's nothing like a democracy, and never has been. And please save the, "why don't you put together a group of venture capitalists and come up with $400-500 million" comment, lol. Imagine if the Broncos had done that, the fans might have voted to keep Tim Tebow and passed up on Manning...because it's usually the most vociferous/passionate fans who vote (numerous times) in those polls, but it's far from the "average" fan's viewpoint, nothing close. Good Post. I agree, it's no way to run a business to. Most Sox fans are very pleased Ozzie is gone. KW is tolerable right now to clean up some of his mess before the eventual turn over to Hahn. And I don't care how bad the team is this year, Kenny will have at least one more year. Even though we don't have much of a chance this year, we shouldn't trade anyone right now. You never know, it is the baseball way. There will be plenty of time to make trades down the line if we are far out of it. Leave it be for now -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 12, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) You don't keep Danks and Floyd in a rebuild. If Danks and Sale are the pitchers the White Sox think they are, that's as good a rotation as there is in the division. Williams said at Soxfest, if the Sox hit they will contend. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 12, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) The fan base will not put up with another season like last year. Chairman Reinsdorf would definitely make a change under these circumstances. Are you kidding? Kenny was paying lip service at Sox Fest no less. What else is he suppose to really say? Everything would have to go just about perfect for us to have a shot. He isn't going anywhere after this season no matter the outcome.

I think the real greg is dead and his account take over by his juvenile son. It explains the irrational statements. A Norman Bates deal

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) For some reason Cowley or Oney come to mind when I read this thread. The trick would be asking the OP's opinion on whether Ozzie should get fired or not . If he avoids it like a vampire avoiding garlic or says Oz should still keep his job(gasp), then you know he's Cowley or Oney incognito.

Oney is a spoiled little s*** http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...?urn=mlb-301242

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 02:16 AM) He answered the questions put to him. He's colorful, funny and a WHITE SOX!!! He bleeds for this team. And you guys want to send him packing?? He cares!!! He is a WHITE SOX! I love Ozzie. You can't really wonder why people call you out for making posts like these. You and your hero Ozzie both seem like you are instigating chaos and digging for reactions. I think Ozzie is trying to get fired at this point. I figure that would make the Sox liable for paying his next season's salary. Whereas if he leaves on his own the Sox do not have to pay him. He only cares about himself, his family and his money.

WTH, Rizzo you are a MF. Probably just trying to get KW top up the ante, but damn.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Don't sit next to anyone in a Griffey jersey. Apparantly the Griffey signing was pretty popular in Canaryville. Love it -
I think it's a handful of reasons. Loyalty is a big one, he just loves "his guys". Some of it is just stubborness, he would be admitting a mistake. Then you got a little bit a being a puss mixed in, it's hard for him to look guys in their eyes when he has to disappoint them. The rest is just probably being a dumb fuc. JMHO

I'd say Berkman, just because he should be the easiet to attain. Hell, they should be practically giving him away with his salary and performance this year. Berk's agent last month was demanding teams pick up his huge option for next year, so they'd have to drop that crap. You know teams are gonna demand all our good prospects for all the others, to me it's not worth it.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) My point has been, how do we know Viciedo would have made it a better offensive lineup? He may be totally overmatched early on. Didn't Beckham start out something like 2 for 40? We know it would have made them worse off defensively than Vizquel. Let Dayan play when your offense is at full go and it's easier to overcome defensive deficiencies and if he hits, all it does is add another threat. Well, how do we know if he would or wouldn't make the offense better unless we play him. There was no reason why he couldn't play first yesterday. I got the feeling that Ozzie is only gonna give him a couple days at third a week, and thats it. If thats the case then he shouldn't even be here, he should be getting at-bats everyday in the minors.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) The Nationals on May 31st were a 26-26 team with Strasburg on the way and a 3.5 game deficit in the NL east. They've gone 5-11 since then while the Braves have been hot. The Nats were more in the race than the Sox were until this week. Dye rejected their offer on April 12, I'm sure he thought they'd be a bad team then.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) jamesdiego as a veteran of annoying avs myself, i stand and applaud you sir Hey dude, can you please keep your eyes off my wife's crotch. Actually she's some kind of Chicago model, and a Sox fan. She let me "borrow" it from her online portfolio.
-
Didn't he say something about not wanting to go to a crappy team, just so they could use him for trade bait? He couldn't possibly demand to go straight to the big league team with how much time off he's had.
-
Sign Dye and put him in the minors, can't hurt. And there goes the assumption that JR is holding Ozzie's nuts. He made it public that KW definately has the power to fire Oz, said he was pissed about Oney's accusations about the organization, absolved KW of any blame with the draft selection of Ozney, and that he never bared KW from road trips. Basically he took Kenny's side on everything. This is really going to piss Ibis off. haha
-
Kenny has said recently he's in the best shape of his life, and he grew up in Oakland. Oz is all talk and admitted to not being in a fight since he was 10yo. KW would wipe the floor with him. $100

WTF? So who leaked it to the papers that Viciedo will start today? Makes me wonder if Ozzie is just trying to **** with Kenny by not playing him. -
The "Cuban Tank" is a terrible nickname too. And whats with the "Viva la Revolución" since he is considered a traitor by Fidel like the other Cubans. Dayan probably feels the same way as Tony Montana: "Hey man, I am a political refugee"
-
"Crazy Like Fox" was what Cowley and Oney were calling Ozzie this week on twitter. Maybe the poster is Oney incognito.
-
Uh, oh. Cowley says that Peavy is having some arm issues. Seem like he may just get pushed back to Friday, so maybe not that serious.

^^ With how much damage they're doing to the White Sox name brand I find it highly unlikely. But I guess time will tell for sure. It's not like the White Sox need to improve the ratings of the show to get more money. Anyone know how much they're getting for the reality show anyways? I really belive these guys hate each other right now. Guillen leaks to the Suntimes today that KW has learned the power of Guillen when Jerry refused to let Williams fire Ozzie. And then Williams tells the Trib that he has had a few long talks tih JR and it was reiterated that he has al the power "top to bottom". Too bad I don't have mlb network, this should be interesting.

I hate to post a Cowley link. But to me this sounds like JR finally stepped in and calmed things down. Ozzie: When asked about the distracting drama, he says it's helping the team. Thanks Oz! Joe of course agrees too. Thx Joe for all your reporting, you schmuck! Ozzie: I just posted the link cause I have to, but don't click on it and give this jerk off any hits. http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2010/06..._making_ni.html

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) After all of the horrible business decisions that JR, Einhorn, and the rest of the ownership group have made over the past 29 years, I don't share your optimism. JR allowing Kenny to walk to placate Ozzie would be par for the course for him. Jerry sure has made major mistakes, but I don't buy all this talk that he'll let KW walk for Ozzie. I don't believe that he somehow favors Oz, better friends with him, more loyal to him, given Oz a job for life. I don't believe it, maybe I don't want to. But JR is a smart guy, and we really have no idea whats hapening behind the scenes. I think it's very well possible that Jerry is mighty pissed at Ozzie. When Oney was talking trash on the organization, I'm sure he let Oz know his feelings. JR might've been the reason Oz told Oney to quit. Jerry doesn't like for him or the organization to be embarrassed. It's all laughs when Ozzie is taking on the Marriotti's of the world, but it can't be funny to him at all when it's going on to his organization. He, and the powers to be have to know who's causing it, and who the problem is. JR was pissed enough last week to tell Oz to make his P.O.S. son once and for all to stop tweeting about the Sox. And now he's letting KW go on road trips, doesn't sound like giving in to Guillen there. Cowley is tearing into the organization everyday, and we all know with JR's past that he hates that crap. And he HAS TO KNOW that the Guillen's are Cowley's source. I gotta keep the faith that he's just waiting til the end of the season, and after the reality show, to fire Ozzie.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) I agree with this completely but it's going to take Reinsdorf and the real owners of this team to want to change. They seem to be content with the status quo. Their philosophy is stay competitive until Labor Day and then the Bears will come in and take the heat off of them. I actually saw an interview with Reinsdorf where he said it costs too much money to win championships. So, the only way the Sox were going to win is when all the stars were aligned as they were in 2005. I get criticized everytime I mention payroll but facts are facts. To get the kind of compelling ballplayers we deserve is for them to raise the payroll. Don't tell me it's the 7th best. Chicago is 2nd or 3rd largest baseball market so the White Sox payroll should reflect that. Their commitment to player development should be such where they commission scouts to search the world for talent. That talent can be stockpiled for future trades as well as retooling. This simply won't happen until an extremely wealthy White Sox fan comes in and relieves us of current ownership. You actually believe that Reinsdorf doesn't want to win championships? Are you ****ing joking? And then you bring up payroll to justify that? We had a $75 million payroll in 2005, and they bumped it up to $102 to win it the next year. I know Philly paid a chunk for Thome, but they did it to WIN in 2006. We might be a big market, but the fact is we were 16th in attendance last year. And as you pointed out 7th in payroll. They are putting the it back into the team, I don't know how you could argue that their sitting on piles of money. Thats ridiculous.
