I believe the Sox front office had to have talked much about Ricky’s ridiculous job performance this week. How could they not frankly. And whether he’s the long term man for the job I would believe is a part of the conversation, at least a little. ( I would fucking hope). Jerry doesn’t like to spend money on managers to sit at home, but hopefully money bags won’t mind too since Ricky is signed cheap. I’m sure they would choose another first time manager who won’t cost too much. Maybe I’m just trying to convince myself that we have a decently competent front office. And who truly desire to win at all costs.

Which postseason opponent would you prefer?

Anybody but Cleveland please But yea, A’s then Stros -
Sure, I also think he’s very likely a career 4 OF. But with how Mazara looked this year and how Engel looked, Adam deserved a shot to see just how improved he is. More than likely he’d come back to earth. But he’s never really looked this good for this long, it’s always been a mirage in consecutive spring trainings. He’s not my right fielder next year or anything. He was my right fielder this year though. But Ricky’s big brain got in the way.
-
Engel should have really been given a decent look this year. I don’t have huge confidence in the guy but you find out between the lines what he is. Before this year I always thought the guy was nothing, just defense and not worth anything but being a defensive replacement. But he’s surprised me with how he looks this year. is he the starting right field next year? He can’t be because he’s still an unknown because Ricky didn’t play him more.

Back on topic, yes Ricky needs to be fired after this season. The only thing that can save them is a torrid run in the playoffs. He destroyed the moral of the team though with his decisions. I hope for the best on the playoffs, but I don’t have confidence that they will do great. The look on the players faces doesn’t look like they have confidence right now. I bet there was some raised eyebrows in the clubhouse. Can they trust Ricky to put players in the best position to succeed? I think many of the players love rocky as a person, but I have to believe they are questioning his judgement right now. Probably some texts debating the bullpen moved between players last night. This is no way to be marching into the playoffs, looking feeble and limping. Ruiz and Gonzales should not even be on the roster over Detwiler. I don’t know if Hahn and Kenny are just bending over to Ricky’s roster desires about his favorites or what. I could see giving Rodon a chance to see what he can do out of the bullpen, but he was set up to fail, plain and simple. And yes Ozzie would be better than Ricky, but just about anyone else would. Ozzie not only quit but he sabotaged the team his last year. That drama was Day Of Our Lives / The Young and the Useless all wrapped up in one. Ozzie is better and would choose him easily over the Rickster, but we could do better, the Sox are a desired destination now.
-
Bizarre that Detweiler is given the boot. Why on earth didn’t Ricky give him more opportunities this season? Even when he was shutting teams down he barely pitched. We would have at least had a better handle on how good he truly is. A couple shaky starts recently doesn’t mean much. I could see the case for Fry over him. And Ruiz might be gone soon regardless. But I choose Russ over Gio 100%. And I have a feeling Detweiler would have been better out of the pen in the postseason over Rodon.

The last thing anyone should do is unfairly judge Moncada this season with his health issues. He undoubtably gets a pass from me and I hope he does from everyone else. Robert might look like a completely different hitter if he had some protection behind him. He’s still so incredibly young that he gets a full pass from me as well for the rest of the year. We know what he can do and it takes young hitters time to adjust in the big leagues. But he could get a possible boost out of his rut with a lineup change.
-
This is some major bullshit and has Ricky’s fingerprints all over it, all of because his love for his special little Yolmey. Granted Yolmer has some surprisingly nice hits for a change but his fully displayed that his arm is too weak for 3b. And it’s absolutely too weak to play SS. So now we have our main backup infielder who plays inferior defense at all positions to the guy they just sent down. All because he tickles Ricky and makes him laugh. I’m surprised Hahn and Kenny go along with this shit.
-
Great at bat Robert. Hopefully that at bat unleashes him for the rest of the season.

The hope that I’m clinging to is with Stone being so in touch with the front office. And with Stone’s offhand tweets that can only be construed as calling Ricky out, I have to think there is some frustration with some of the Rickster’s moves. I can see Kenny throwing things across the room in disgust as some of Ricky’s decisions. At least I hope he would be pissed, he is competitive guy. It really seems like the front office these actually care about trying their utmost to win a championship with this team. It won’t happen until after the season, if at all. Bur of course if this teams makes a deep playoff run in spite of Ricky he may very well be back.

To me what Jerry meant by the “aim for second place/ keep the carrot on a stick in front of the fans” comments was that if you just put the illusion that you are trying to win it is good enough. You don’t have to go all out and try to win the damn thing every year. I believe they did go balls out after 2005 trying to repeat by trading for Thome and Vasquez. And I give them credit for Finally doing a true rebuild and being damn successful at it. And for giving a decent shot this past offseason. Keuchel sounds like he picked us because of the Grandal signing. And Encarnacion is only one year. They really need to bring Vaughn up and really go for it this year. And they need to do right with the organization and fans and Fire Ricky after this year.
-
I agree. I would not say it’s a given this organization would do the right thing and replace Renteria this offseason. Jerry has his strong aversion to not want to pay a manager to not manage. I’m assuming Rick is signed past this season, I don’t know his contract. There is a strong Latin culture here and I think the best way not to disrupt it is hiring a bilingual manager. And part of the reason why I want Sandy. Jirschele Is way too young in my eyes, we have no idea how he would handle the clubhouse full of veterans. He would be good for a young club with no expectations, where he can grow. Not an organization with World Series expectations next year. No thanks to experiments.

Sox vs Twins 9/2/2020 Lopez vs Berrios 7:10 CST
jamesdiego replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2020 Season in Review
Yea, I don’t think he is sabotaging on purpose at all. He obviously wants to win. Ricky is just in over his head. Is he signed past this year? That will tell a lot about the Sox might do, as Jerry hates you throw away money paying someone not to manage. I'll take just about anyone at this point. Personal fav it Sandy Alomar, but I’ll be happy as hell to fire Ricky now and let Super Joe takeover. Shit, I bet Coop could make a better lineup. The trainer, whoever. -
Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
jamesdiego replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don’t care where Vaughn hits as long as he’s up here. Awesome news that he’s taking fly balls in right. Wish they did this a lot sooner so he would be ready now, but better late than never. -
Hahn: Andrew Vaughn "could help the team this season"
jamesdiego replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m sure the Sox have thought of Vaughn in right. They must have a good handle on if he can do it or not. I really can’t see him over some time being worse than Eloy. His arm would be important, if it’s serviceable. If they determined Vaughn is not an option they need to make the full time switch to Engel. Mazara has had his options. -
I knew Ricky was going to throw Yolmer in the lineup to the detriment of the ball club. It’s similar to Ozzie’s irrational love for Erstad or Mackoviak play centerfield. Yolmer should not be in the starting lineup unless it’s a Sunday or emergency. These games are too important to waste a spot in the lineup to an automatic out. He’s literally has had years to prove he cannot get the job done. That’s why I didn’t even want Yolmer on the squad, our savant manager can’t help himself. Ricky is an atrocious bum. Can we please get someone with a little sense to run the ship? Play Engel also and both catchers in the starting lineup more often. You know, let’s maybe put our best team on the field.
-
Colome has been an underrated beast for us. He is a gamer and is there when we need him. Now, when our Rickster puts him in during a non-save situation is when it can get interesting. But I put that on Ricky with not always putting his players in the best position to succeed. I’m definitely leaning towards resigning him. But how he performs in the playoffs will be critical and have a large bearing on that.
-
Yolmer should only see the field in emergencies or blow outs. I’ll be pissed as fuck if (when?) Ricky starts giving him starts ahead of Mendick. When Madrigal and Yoan are not out there Mendick needs to be in to keep developing his bat. Ricky gonna Ricky isn’t he?
-
All that trade rumor discussion going on was for naught. ? I’m just happy they did trade Dunning or Vaughn, like some seemed to be ok with.
-
I could see Woodruff for Kopech package making sense. But adding Vaughn, aw hell naw.
-
No way in hell do I want to trade Vaughn. I’m salivating adding his bat to this already formidable offense. Someone else already asked, but can he possibly play right field? I didn’t see him but a little bit at third base. Seemed decently athletic. How strong is his arm?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
jamesdiego replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jason will eventually be getting a new partner. I enjoy how much they get along. Stone Pony is still one of the best. -
Knowing Ricky, he will be taking away playing time from Mendick go give to his favorite son Yolmer.
-
Ricky with the big brain moves again. Hoping for the best, sigh.

Ozzie is lucky to be in some good graces with the organization. His last season was something else, a new level ego trip he was on. Completely sabotaged his team. Him, Olney and their instigator Joe Cowley can all fuck off for their bullshit parts they played in that drama they created. Having said all that I don’t mind him doing post game, but it doesn’t exactly add any motivation in watching that show with Chuck now. Meh. Renteria, my Latino brother, still needs to get fucking lost. The Sox are either too incompetent or cheap(probably more this) to replace him before. Sandy was their first choice before Renteria to be Robin’s bench coach and successor. But Alomar didn’t want to disrespect Robin like that, which I don’t blame him. Should have just handed the keys back then. But maybe getting some more experience under Francona’s would serve him well, certainly couldn’t have hurt. He would be my choice 100%. AJ has a great baseball mind. But I don’t think he would come back to be a bench coach, I believe I heard him say he would only come back to be a manager. I would think hard about it, just how would the players like playing for him with his abrasive personality at times. Jirschele is too young for my liking
