  1. What about Konerko for Percival? The Angels need a good 1B.
  2. I've read Minnesota wants Fick as well. I hate that guy.
  3. Don't forget Kelly Dransfeldt! The savior!
  4. I'd rather we sign Orlando Cabrera for about $6,000,000 or so.
  5. Ouch Mr. Quagmyre. I know I'm skinny.
  6. Eh, I wanted to post my cross country pic.
  7. I win with those 15 year olds out there. Me in full military school attire! On the right with the flag. Don't I look pissed off!
  8. Why can't the money go toward Kevin Millwood
  9. Colyer is one of their future studs. I don't think we're getting him.
  10. Yeah I wouldn't want to do Koch for Cedeno considering the money Cedeno is making. Plus rumors indicate that the Dodgers are interested in trading us Perez for Konerko or Lee.
  11. We can deal Ordonez, Konerko, and Koch and have some good money on hand. We could probably sign Everett for $6,000,000 per year since there is a strong free agent market. Or we can bring in Reggie Sanders or Rondell White for less money. We can trade Konerko for Odalis Perez and Ching-Feng Chen or something. Then we have a 1-2-3-4 starter. We make Odalis the #4, Garland #5, and have money to sign Millwood or Ponson. We'd still have enough money to afford a decent 2B (from Castillo down to Vina). Then we'd be looking at something like this.... 2B Vina/Castillo? LF Lee DH Thomas RF Rondell White/Reggie Sanders/Carl Everett 3B Crede SS Valentin CF Borchard or Reed? 1B Chen C Olivo Do we have enough speed to manufacture runs? We know Sanders or Everett, Vina or Castillo, Valentin, Borchard or Reed, and Olivo can run. We just need to play some good small ball. SP Buehrle SP Loaiza SP Ponson/Millwood SP Perez SP Garland Solid thru and thru. CP Troy Percival (for Mags, was 33-37 in converting saves. Amazing.) SU Marte SH Gordon? Possibly resign MI Wunsch Alt Starter Schoeneweis Short or Long Sullivan? Might not cost much with Mags gone... Plus other RP's and then your bench. I think we could build a cheap yet winning team if we traded Konerko, Koch, and Sadly Ordonez. But we need to get an outfielder that has pop and can hit lefty. We have 4 righty's in a row in our order so the pitcher's could just settle into a groove on the heart of our order. If we cut down strikeouts, pop outs; and start running and playing small ball, we can take the division. Getting Percival would be key for us. A closer is everything, look at what Guardado did for the Twins last year. Just some thoughts. I'm a little confused on our Konerko to LA situation, I really don't know anyone who can play 1st, I just know that Chen was mentioned...
  12. I think we are getting too bored. Let's hope the Sox sign an ace.
  13. Have the White Sox ever considered signing guys who shut down the White Sox? Wouldn't they win more if they did I know John Thompson did a CG against us in 2003.
  14. The way the White Sox are I bet Valentin will be playing here until he's 60. I'm sure hopin they let him go. Then sox fans may get a stud SS for the first time...ever.
  15. It's rediculous that we cannot build landmarks without worrying about terrorists. Oh how I dislike them.
  16. I've been pretty high on Pacheco. I hear he has a 95 MPH fastball. Is this true Rex? That'd be awesome if it is true. We may have a power pitcher on our hands.
  17. Heh, yeah I know. Sure hope this isn't true. If it is, I think he needs to take a hike.
  18. Lofton has a good first 2 weeks of the season and then he gradually drops off the radar. I doubt he's going to be a full-time starter for one team in a season for the rest of his career. The guy should retire.
  19. I'd love to see Ozzie. Plus now he gets World Series experiences, and he's learned a bit from McKeon, who we know is a good manager.
  20. I heard this on the score a couple of days ago, and I read it in the Sun Times. --------------------------------------------------------------- Did Backman root against Sox? 'Insane,' agent says October 17, 2003 BY DOUG PADILLA Staff Reporter Advertisement As the White Sox' secret manager search chugs on, one candidate is left to defend his character amid a recent report. Wally Backman, the Sox' Class AA manager the last two seasons, was reported to have called friend and Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire during the season to give support to the Twins in games against the Sox. The idea, it was reported in USA Today's Sports Weekly magazine, was that Twins victories would help toward the eventual ouster of manager Jerry Manuel, which they did. Backman admitted earlier this season that he would be interested in Manuel's job if he was fired. ''I can speak vehemently of that article that whatever source they had was inaccurate,'' said Alan Nero, Backman's agent. ''I can tell you Wally has never wished that the Sox not succeed. He is in the organization and has coached and managed players with the White Sox. That is insane.'' The report cited two unnamed Twins coaches as sources. Nero could not deny that a comment along those lines might have been made in jest, but he said it would have been careless to take something like that as Backman's true feelings. Backman did not respond to a request seeking comment. He was reported to be in Chicago on Thursday to interview for the Sox manager vacancy, but Nero neither confirmed nor denied that, citing the Sox' desire to keep the manager search private. ''It's extraordinarily disappointing because not only does that affect his standing in the organization, but it attacks the fiber of his character,'' Nero said. ''Anybody that knows Wally or saw him as a player knows that nobody wants to win more than him. He was not a selfish player. For somebody to attack his character not only has an effect on him at this moment, but also his character.'' Nero was confident the Sox would not use a report crediting unnamed sources as a reason to eliminate his client from consideration. However, a source indicated that Sox general manager Ken Williams knew of the rumors regarding Backman even before they were published. ''I believe the Sox are a first-class organization and they will make decisions based on their relationship directly with Wally and the credibility he has with that organization,'' Nero said. ''I would be surprised if a decision with his job as a [current] manager in the organization, or the decision as a [major-league manager] candidate would be affected by this.'' The Sox' wish for the search to remain private is being respected by the candidates. Not only did Backman's agent decline to discuss the process directly, so did Buddy Bell's agent, Joe Bick. Marlins third-base coach Ozzie Guillen, though, seems to have no problem discussing it, even with his team heading to the World Series. ''I think I will tell them that I learned from a lot of guys,'' Guillen said Wednesday about his Sox interview strategy. ''I learned from Bobby Cox, Tony La Russa, Jack McKeon, Jeff Torborg. I learned from a lot of people and a lot of good baseball people. ''I'll tell them like I tell everybody, I don't have anything to hide. I love to play hard, I respect the game, and that's what we are going to do.'' A new name to enter the candidate list has been former Milwaukee Brewers standout Robin Yount, currently the first-base coach of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Though Yount has been reported to want to stay with the Diamondbacks, if he can be hired by the Sox, he likely would convince his former teammate Paul Molitor to fill the team's vacant third-base coaching spot.
  21. I wonder if Frank Thomas was on it
